Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

This isn’t really true. There are far less DAS users than Genie+ sold. It all comes down to the ratios they use for LL to Standby. The ratio would be much much much less if there was no Genie+.

There are some guesses out there that G+ has been less than half (I think) of users entering the LL entry.

Len Testa is on the case and trying to determine this via the color of the light scanning in.

I keep going back to the observations made by @lentesta at Haunted Mansion that involved actually counting the people who were tapping into the LL’s per hour versus how many they know were Genie+. Those observations do not support the idea that Genie+ is making up the bulk of the lightning lanes. It’s DAS, Rider Swap, Golden Oaks, VIP Tours, and Club 33.
This is a very interesting theory.

It’s only used by regional amusement parks, like Six Flags. Universal is the first major theme park to use this service.

It’s a different circus. My personal opinion is that I think if using this service was bulletproof, Disney & SeaWorld would be using it.

I don’t think Disney will ever use it just from a guest service stand point.

It is interesting as you could have replaced this post's focus on wipay for priority concept pass vs accessibility based ones just a few years ago and here we are with Disney doing Genie Plus now.

Only the lead guest for DAS scans blue. The other guests in the party do not, so potentially you have 6 DAS users for every blue scan.
Yeah…. My other problems with this theory is that guests who come early/late for their LL times will also turn blue. I don’t want to discredit the user who is putting in the work to develop this theory, but I don’t think it’s practical.

I have DAS and have also used Genie+/ILL. From my personal observations, I would say DAS takes up 25% or less of all LL capacity.

How do you arrive at that number?

I have observed as well, and from my personal experience, that’s what I would say. Although my point above was that I think it would be near impossible for any of us to come to any concrete conclusions based on observations.

How do you know who is and isn't DAS? What is your observation? Are you watching everyone entering the queue?

How do you get to 25%?

This is correct, and is going to be addressed.

There is a case to be made that entering at 3pm makes G+ more valuable if you it to its fullest.

If a park opens at 9, by 3pm you'd be booking your 4th LL and just be getting to the park.
Genie+ in its current form yes. But not if they revert back to a system that is basically paid FP+ (which is what is rumored to be coming).

Because you could only make 3 selections prior to going, only 1 being a tier 1. Currently I can get 4 tier 1 rides before I even get to the park. Especially if you have to use all 3 before booking another. I wouldn’t be able to book again until 5pm ish (and likely later if they don’t allow for overlapping ressies like fP+ was). What will be left at 5pm? Nothing. So I would be paying $35+ for 1 tier 1 ride and it’s not even the best ride there like it was with FP+ because that’s an ILL now.

No thanks. And I really don’t think many will.

I can’t wait to see Genie+ revenue if they do this. They will be shooting themselves in the foot (or maybe blowing the whole leg off)

Unless they tweak it. What if selections were tied to properties? Stay at a Deluxe and get 3 overlapping. Moderate 2, and Value 1. Off property - well they don’t overlap.

And once 1 is used you can fill its slot with another. Regardless of “Ride Tier”.

Won’t work. Didn’t work with FP+ and that’s when ILLs were part of the available inventory. So fewer rides, more people = won’t work. It’s one thing when guest complained about FP+ when it was free. Now you want me to pay $35+pp and get even less? Guest satisfaction numbers were terrible w FP+. That’s why they got rid of it.
Well as wdwmagic points out it appears that I’m wrong. So I guess it doesn’t really matter
