Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

What happened is certain divisions made money and others shoveled it into the furnace. It shows a lack of budgetary accountability.
Yeah but that’s always been true to certain extent. Snow White made a boatload and they built their lot with it…
Disneyland made money as their movie receipts declined…

Etc etc

What has happened under Bob is they knew their tv receipts would decline with tech…and they did…Eisner knew that

And Eisner left him a very well outfitted complex in Orlando and a languishing one in Anaheim…

…so they did a decent…decent…job in addressing the one…
But have used up the runway of the cash cow and now that’s turning.

The management had been marginal…at best…the longer it goes on the more it will sink

We just don’t have the smoke now

Quite amazing that they have managed to move this from $15 to $39. Will be interesting to see how many times it sells out at this price point. Any predictions?
I think it’ll sell out at $39 at MK over the holiday season because many will feel like they have to get it in order to be able to do certain things with the holiday crowds. Did any or all the parks sellout yesterday?

I predict it’ll go up to $50 by the end of next year if they see they can at times

The sad part is they may think building new attractions to help spread out crowds would then reduce people buying G+ and negatively impact them more than help.

The problem is it’s an absolute necessity this week. It will sell out. Long term people are going to get fed up and they’re going to hemorrhage customers but the ones who are already here have paid $10k to be here so they’re not going to cheap out once here. It’s a terrible long-term strategy for Disney but it will definitely goose those short term profits.

And by then uncle Bob will have left the mess…. his legacy… for someone else to deal with.

We’ve been hearing that hemorrhaging customers thing for 3+ decades of complaining now and guess what- it hasn’t happened. The parks are still full to capacity.

The reality is, there has always been some group of guests who reach their breaking point for any number of reasons and say they’ll never come back again. And there is another (often larger) group right behind taking up their space.

If you’re unhappy with the changes (which is your right) then you have the choice to spend your vacation dollars somewhere else. But the reality is, the growth in the parks has continued decade after decade, despite a regular wave of people who are ‘done with it’ over one thing or another.
