Lighthouse Point to welcome guests in Summer 2024

We just got home from a cruise on the Fantasy and absolutely loved Lookout Cay, stunningly beautiful beaches, also a totally different feel from Castaway Cay (which we also love). It already looks infinitely better than the early YouTube videos we saw but we can only imagine it will get even more beautiful as the new plantings grow to match the mature areas.

We were a little disappointed that some of the trails, the bike rentals, etc weren’t open yet but that just gives us something new to look forward to when we inevitably go back.

The beach was just wonderful. We are hoping for good weather the day we are there (10-ish days from now).

Most things looked the same for us as the preview pictures, since we were there a scant 4 months after the opening. I don't expect that to really change much - It's going to take years for things to grow in.

For people with young children... I know there is no tram/shuttle service to take us from the ship to the island... but are we allowed to take the complementary strollers that we can get from guest services onto the island for the walk? I don't think my 2 year old will walk that whole way.

If memory serves me correctly, they had either wagons or strollers at the dock for this purpose.

Finally got to experience Lookout Cay last week on the Wish. It was apparently the first Wish sailing with a stop there, according to our rotational dining staff so it was new for most of the crew, too. The walk does stink, especially heading back to the ship after a day at the beach. It didn't ruin our day or anything, but some CM's we talked to that evening weren't fans of the walk, either. Fortunately, we had beautiful weather (i think the high was 74° F) so it wasn't a brutal trek back but I wouldn't want to make that walk back in the afternoon during the summer. The beach and buildings are beautiful. We ended up getting a couple chairs and an umbrella near the Cultural Center, so all we had to do was stand up and turn around to see the Junkanoo celebration when it was happening. I like the seating better for dining - it seems like there are more covered areas for eating in the shade and the big fans they have to determine the flies really helped keep it comfortable while we ate.

The process for allergy orders was good, too. Instead of checking in and taking a metal table marker and waiting for someone to find your table to deliver your food, they give you a pager so you know when your food is ready and then you go back to get it yourself.

Overall, I think they did a good job of giving Lighthouse Point a different energy than Castaway Cay, so it doesn't feel like 2 stops at the same place if you're on a sailing that stops at both places. I do wish it didn't take 30 minutes to get from the ship to the beach (the walk to the tram plus the tram ride) because that eats up a good chunk of time getting there and back, but it was a fun day despite that.

What was your departure date? We were leaving on the Fantasy when the Wish was also at Port Canaveral about a week and a half ago.

So... how does it work to get a ride to the tram for those with physical limitations? I'm traveling with my in-laws, 1 of which had both knees replaced recently and the other who probably needs both knees replaced... I don't think they could make the 1/2 mile walk without a decent amount of stops.

There are some smaller trams running from the ship to the shore. I think Guest Services should be able to help you with that on the ship.

Guest services can set it up. When my wife used the tram they had us meet in one of the clubs on the ship in the morning. From there they set up who goes first, second, etc. You then board a golf cart as soon as you get off the ship and it takes you to the tram at the end of the dock.

Coming back you will grab a ride in one of the carts running between the tram stop and the ship.

Awesome. Have you done Alaska before? We sailed on the Disney Wonder in 2018 as a "tick off the box on the bucket list" and were so impressed that 36 hours into the cruise, we were asking each other "how soon can we do this again", which we did in 2022.
I haven’t done it but my Gf has, we chose Princess specifically because they offer land and sea packages and my GFs big regret from her previous cruise was she didn’t see enough of Alaska. We’re doing a 7 day cruise from Vancouver to Anchorage followed by 5 days in Princess lodges at Denali, Mt McKinley, and Fairbanks. It was nice to let someone else take care of the travel and lodging aspect and just pick which excursions we wanted to do.

She said we can do a more relaxing DCL cruise “next time”, which made me laugh because she already knows I’ll want to go back.
