This might be no news, but bioreconstruct got another aerial of the riverboat docked still in refurbishment.
or sunk because they left a whole in the hull and went on lunch breakRelieved to see it’s not in splinters all over the dry dock. That’s the last riverboat we have!
No, that's pretty accurate. It is down about 3/4 of our trips. It's probably just my imagination, but it seems like the riverboat is 101 about every other time we go. We'll be there in 9 days, and it'll be down. Bummer.
I guess they didn’t want one. Or wouldn’t pay.@marni1971 Why doesn't WDW have Columbia Sailing Ship equivalent?
I guess they didn’t want one. Or wouldn’t pay.
They never replaced the Fowler and they scrapped the canoes and keelboats.
I always thought the Columbia should sail from Liberty Square and the Mark Twain from New Orleans Square (and not Frontierland).
So they actually were going to build the Columbia. However, they thought that the steamboats provided better shade when riding and built the Richard F. Irvine instead. The Admiral Joe Fowler was the original as you know.I guess they didn’t want one. Or wouldn’t pay.

Exactly this....very early pre-opening art shows a Columbia plying the RoA. After the MK opened, park ops realized that the Columbia (at DL) provided almost no shade or protection from rain. With central Florida's sporadic thunderstorms, a second steamboat was chosen. I would have loved to have seen a replica of the Columbia at the MK, but would definitely not enjoy being caught on an open ship in the middle of a downpour. So they actually were going to build the Columbia. YesIs this a thing that actually happened?

I agree....especially with the MK's RoA being at a lower elevation than the surrounding walkways, it'd would've worked really well. I feel the steamboat at MK "looks" better than at DL, due to this design aesthetic.I'd be happy with any tall ship even if it was permanently moored on Liberty Square. The aesthetics would be amazing.
