Ok since this topic is so far off topic...go figure!!!! I thought I would add my bit about the fountain out front. Someone either tell me I am nuts or back me up on this one, but I remember part of the talk for the Millennium Celebration was to put a AA of Father Time that would come up out of the fountain and do something....I want to said it had something to do with Tapestry of Nations????

Someone please help me with this random memory in my head!!!!

I can safely say that I have never heard that before...

I'm partial to this wonderful photograph of the future of Leave a Legacy:

All I know is that I enjoy the fact that my wife and I have a tile, and my mom and dad have a tile. I really couldn't give a crap if some random family from Jersey doesn't look at our tiles. I do, and they are a great tangible, physical reminder of great trips my family took to WDW. Plus, I really enjoy the fact that I'm always in Epcot, from a certain point of view.

i agree. my family has four walk around the world bricks at MK and we also did a leave a legacy at epcot. admittedly, i never really cared for leave a legacy and haven't looked at it since the day we got it, but i do love our bricks at MK.

OK I have a question for all who purchased tiles on these LAL markers.

If Disney were to move them to some other place in EPCOT etc. would you be OK with the decision? Maybe this could make "most" everyone happy.

That way you all get your tiles displayed (let us say a nice setting somewhere other than the entrance to EPCOT) and everyone gets a nice open entry way to EPCOT.

Just trying to be fair to everyone here.

I got a LAL back in 2000. It was my understanding that it would be up for at least 10 years. I don't remember hearing 20 or 25 anywhere, but it was 10 years ago--so I don't remember and can't find the paperwork I got about it.

I would be okay at this point with them demolishing it, but it would be nice to have the tiles returned if there was a simple way to do it. Moving them to another location in Epcot would be nice, but they were designed for that location so it wouldn't necessarily have the same "feeling" about. I suppose they could make an exhibit like the 25th anniversary one and display them there.

Leave It

As I mentioned before, it was made clear to me in 1999 that they would be on display until 2024 at least (25 years from when they started selling them). I do not have a copy of the contract and have not seen anyone post a copy of the contract so don't think anyone can say for sure what the legal rights that anyone has. So with that said, Disney certainly implied that this display would be where it is and the tiles would be on display until at least 2024, so for them to move it anywhere else, I think would be a bad decision. Now, I am not going to get upset or sue them if they do decide to relocate it or tear it down altogether... that is just part of life, but also think those who are complaining so much about it should just deal with it... they are not "that bad"... it could have been a lot worse.

I've got 2 LaL tiles, one for myself and my partner, plus one for the MIL. :)

To be quite honest as long as they stick to their promise of keeping them somewhere in Epcot for the amount of time specified (I honestly can't remember what it was myself but it was more than 10 years), they weren't hidden away and I'm given information as to the new location I'd be fine with that. I don't mind them being unobtrusive mind, just not hidden.

To be quite honest I think that the front entrance of Epcot could do with a change\lift of some kind. Whether that should include losing LaL I don't know, but it does need something...

The plaques are not what bothers people it is the hideous marble monstrosities they are attached to. Those are "that bad". It is well established here that the plaques can be moved. A good place would be the wall on the west side of the entry plaza. Plenty of room there. And then the entry plaza can be restored to its original beauty. Win-Win.
