Least expensive accommodation for 6-8 adults?

I was thinking of pitching a group trip to my friends for next year.

DH and I are Disney people and we usually go on the cheap, Value resorts with AP discount, flying with companion airfare or on jetblue, etc. Even so, Disney has a perception of being very expensive.

I've only ever gone to Disney with just me and DH.

What is the least expensive accommodation for 6-8 adults?

Should everyone just get their own rooms at a Value resort, or maybe 2 family suites at ASMu or AoA, or is there a villa or something that would fit all of us? It seems the villas could fit us all, but would be MUCH more expensive than the separate rooms at a value route.

DH and I are (or will be again as of our Dec trip) AP holders, so I guess we could book 2 rooms with the AP discount and save 20% on group meals with TIW.

Any tips?

The value resorts would still be your best bet. The value suites typically cost a little more than 2 standard rooms and you would still only be able to stick 4 in a room with some level of privacy (2 in the bed room 2 in the living room).

If price become a problem you might look at renting a house off property.

Cabin at Fort Wilderness? I think they sleep 6. Two queens and a set of bunkbeds if I remember correctly. Although you are limited to only one bathroom. You could go for one or two family suites at the All-Stars or the new Art of Animation resort if it's open when you are planning on going.

With a large number of adults (or even multiple families with kids), an off-site house is the cheapest way to go. We've done both when traveling with another family of four, and the greatest savings we've found was in staying off-site.

Although an off-site house might be the cheapest way to stay, I'd still vote for value rooms on-site. You and DH may want to stay in the parks earlier or later than the rest of your group (or vice-versa). Having the convenience of Disney transportation at your fingertips instead of one car gives everyone the option of coming and going when they're ready.

Perhaps one couple will choose to sleep in one day when you want to be there for the opening. Perhaps one person is exhausted and wants to go back to the room for a nap. To have to stay with everyone when you need a bit of alone time can wear at your nerves.

I'm sure you're all good friends and I'm just offering these thoughts to keep it that way after the vacation.:)

I must agree with previous posts.
When it is 6 adults (or more) you are better off staying off-site
More house/room for your $$$

Cheapest and best option is to rent a house through allstarvacationhomes.com. For half to 2/3 of what you are paying for all the rooms, you can get a 3500 sq ft. house with 5 or 6 bedrooms. And in some cases, the houses are closer to some of the WDW parks than some of the hotels. Im staying at a 6 bedroom for $3000 over 9 days with 7 people. 4 rooms at a Value is probably $3,600+ depending on what time of the year you go. I've stayed at Pop and All Star values numerous times and they are just tiny motel rooms really. If you have more than 2 people in them and 5 days worth of luggage each, they are just too small.

If you stay 7 days or longer in a rental home, you get a free rental car in the booking. Sweet deal really. Most houses have their own inground pool, hot tub, multiple master bedrooms and bathrooms, and even game rooms or theater rooms.

And about not having transportation and not being to come and go as you please. Even when staying on WDW property, I find myself walking out of Epcot after the fireworks, laughing as I bypass the miles of lines for buses, get right in a cab, and for $20 get to my WDW hotel in 5-7 minutes. And at WDW what else can you get for $20 that is that convenient and fair priced? I don't know why more people don't try this. It seems like people are robots and think they MUST take the bus. I know its free, but standing in line for 30 minutes when all I want to do is get to bed is worth the $20.

I agree with BugsBunny. We travel with a volleyball team to WDW each summer and as a team, all stay in vacation homes just minutes from the parks....beautiful places, laundry facilities, private pool....for a fraction of the price of multiple rooms on property. However, when we travel as a family, we always stay on property. Staying on property makes the whole trip more special. So, I guess it's just worth the extra money to us when we go as a family.
....going with adults, though....that private pool is very nice!

Actually, a double bed and a set of bunks in one bedroom, and the murphy bed (queen?) in the living area.

So 4 in the bedroom and 2 in the living room.

I don't recall the murphy bed being that big. But there was also a small couch in the living room.

Still, only one bathroom, small kitchen area, and two adults in bunk beds....:lookaroun

I'd check into getting a couple cabins at Fort Wilderness... Their rates seem to be really affordable and there's a lot of space in those cabins. :)

Treehouses sleep 9 and have 3BR, but cost like 400/day. still that would be close if you book 4 value rooms and then you have a kitchen and 2BR

Rack rate at the treehouses is between $555-$900 per night. Discounts there are possible but they can be a bit hard to come by.

Sorry. Usually stay there on points and did not realize it was that expensive!!Maybe she could rent some points as it seems cheaper than other similar sized villas. Probably too complicated though.

That is a good way to do it. As long as the other 7 people are on board and bring cash renting points is a pretty simple thing to do. Unfortunately, the second one of those 7 want to use a CC it all goes to crap.

One person has to handle everythign if point rental is involved.

You can get points though between $10 and $13 per point, it would be worth it to stay onsite then if they wanted to
