Least expensive accommodation for 6-8 adults?

I was thinking of pitching a group trip to my friends for next year.

DH and I are Disney people and we usually go on the cheap, Value resorts with AP discount, flying with companion airfare or on jetblue, etc. Even so, Disney has a perception of being very expensive.

I've only ever gone to Disney with just me and DH.

What is the least expensive accommodation for 6-8 adults?

Should everyone just get their own rooms at a Value resort, or maybe 2 family suites at ASMu or AoA, or is there a villa or something that would fit all of us? It seems the villas could fit us all, but would be MUCH more expensive than the separate rooms at a value route.

DH and I are (or will be again as of our Dec trip) AP holders, so I guess we could book 2 rooms with the AP discount and save 20% on group meals with TIW.

Any tips?

we went with 7 adults and 1 child earlier this year. we did a treehouse villas at ssr as someone also mentioned earlier. we liked that we each had a room, we still had a full kitchen, were able to grill, and could park right there at the room. we split the cost and had a 35 or 40% room discount (can't remember specifically now sorry). the price was close enough to what we'd have spent to have everyone split up at a value resort and it gave us the kitchen etc... really liked it. together with privacy.

We usually stay at Swan/Dolphin on Sheraton/Starwood points or discount rates. We've found Disney properties to be more expensive than Swan/Dolphin (which is also on property). Plus their restaurants take TIW discount too.

As for house off property, most posters are right. Way less cost. We rented a four bed with pool for a week for $600. Yes you read that right...$600. Huge house and very nice. Lots of deals out there. We booked that through Delta Airlines website. The catch: there is no service. Lots of space but, you are on your own for cleaning, cooking, and transportation. That works for some people, but my we don't like to do dishes, laundry, or deal with a car on vacation. Just up to personal preference.

Good luck and have fun!

Thanks for these ideas!

It seems like either way the price would be comparable to the Value resort, so I can use that in terms of price. I will look into the treehouses and renting DVC points. Actually personally I would love to rent the DVC points so I can experience the DVC properties. DH and I have definitely considered joining in the future since we would like to go to WDW at least once a year.

I have friends that have rented points and stayed at OKW...the two bedroom or grand villas will probably be just a shade more than values when you consider you can get a grocery stop with a private car service on arrival, saving you lots of money on food, laundry, etc....they did their homework and thought it was well worth the few extra bucks and they all split it and loved the extra elbow room and amenities.
