Lasseter Taking Leave of Absence

No, but the words in the posts downplay the seriousness of it.

I think you're reading too much into people's comments. For instance, I said "Unfortunately his handling of alcohol and women was not tenable for a top executive." I didn't feel the need to rehash the whole story. I was primarily looking at the corporate ramifications.

It is absolutely inexcusable for a man in any position to treat women the way he did. And when I wished him health and wellness, what I should have said was "so you never act like this again in any setting".

But I take issue with your inference that people are downplaying the seriousness of it. I didn't really see it that way. In the often off-the-cuff nature of blog posting, responses are frequently incomplete or not well thought out.

The Disney film facts guy on twitter said his Pixar animation contacts said that Pixar is in chaos right now. And that TS4 is in really bad shape. But that WDAS was coping fine.

But he is coming back in a limited role until the end of the year.

Hopefully from home. Video conference or similar methods is a good choice.

But if Disney was serious about workplace issues they would have told him no, and just accept our generous retirement package.

Of course, Jimmy Kimmel would also be off the ABC airwaves.

Assessing Disney's response necessarily requires some inference. I think they're in the ballpark--they got him off company property last fall, creating a separation in the public mind between Lasseter and Disney. Now they're pushing him out. IMO, they'll demonstrate whether they are serious about workplace issues based on what they do internally going forward. And I absolutely agree about video conferencing.

Hi guys! I'm videoing into the meeting remotely today because if I was there in person, I'd already have my hand on Linda's knee under the table, be tracing my lips with my tongue whenever Tina made eye contact with me, and when the meeting was over I'd pull Sara into a tight embrace that lasted for 30 seconds minimum, and while our bodies were locked together, I'd whisper in her ear that the fluorescent lighting shining off of her eyes was so beautiful that I couldn't hear a thing that was said during the meeting. So let's get started!

OK, how to write this family friendly.....

Oh, excuse me, I was distracted, had something hard in my hand. Where were we again?

Sorry for the bad visual

RIP Lasseter's career and hopefully future careers.
The sad thing is he's probably rich enough to live a good enough life that he doesn't need any career. Oh well, he got his karma.

Saw this on another site, allegedly posted by a Pixar employee.

Just went to the I2 Wrap party last weekend, and as is tradition, we sit through the credits until the end. Everyone claps typically when the directors, producers, etc. names appear on screen, but the claps immediately stopped when JL’s name showed up. Just in case anyone wanted to know how most Pixarians feel about this whole ordeal. Everyone was uproarious a month or so ago when The Hollywood Reporter speculated that he would physically return to Pixar to continue working. I’m not into conspiracy theories, but I feel like they let HR run that story to gauge the employees’ and public’s reaction of that scenario.

Glad to see he’ll finally be gone.

Lee is a fantastic talent and great collaborator. She's a perfect choice for the position.
Her film work includes Frozen, Frozen Fever, Wreck-It Ralph, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, and A Wrinkle in Time. Now I haven't seen A Wrinkle in Time but I know it was panned by critics and completely bombed. As for the rest, I have seen them all and besides Frozen I don't care for them. Obviously I don't know the amount of influence she had on those productions, but if we're getting more movies like Wreck It Ralph, Big Hero 6, or Zootopia, count me out. Those aren't what I want from Walt Disney Animation.
