ladies, a question...

I usually carry the pack with the small items (camera, keys, change, sunscreen stick, bandaides, etc...), while hubby carries a small backpack with food and water.

I have a cute small purse with a LONG strap that I can wear across my body rather than one shoulder and when I wear a zip-up sweatshirt, the purse fits right under it. I carry credit cards/room keys/a little cash, tissues, hand sanitizer, maps/time sheets and random things I collect or think I might need throughout the day. My cell phone and camera go on my belt. All my boyfriends pants and shorts have about 3000 pockets, so he just sticks stuff he needs in there.
Of course, we don't have any kids so we don't need to carry a whole bunch of stuff around, but this works really well for us.

That works best for me too - a long strap and a small bag, easy for security to go through and not a nuisance to carry around. It's like a pocket on a strap.

I carry one of those small purses that has the long strap so that I can hang it over my shoulder and across my chest. I put in it, a small wallet with cash and credit cards, my camera, room keys, and maps. It works great on rides because you can strap it under any seat belts, put it behind your back, or hold it between the side of your body and your arm.

Last time I went to WDW I packed an ebags tote and my baggalini. I made it out the door decided no way just seemed to heavy on my shoulder. I ended up carrying my Vera Bradley. I love the cargo bag bc I can wear it on my shoulder or over my body. It's light weight just enough pockets. Too many pockets gets a little confusing in my opinion.

I carry a very small backpack - it probably has the same capacity as the nylon drawstring ones others have mentioned. I use it to hold my cards, a small zip-up bag (to hold hair elastics, wipes, tissues, bandages, lip balm, etc.), my phone, a poncho, a drink bottle, and a not-so-bulky jacket.

My mom used to carry a small Very Bradley, and then a small LeSportSac bag across her shoulder, but now she's into the backpack thing. I think my only problem with backpacks is having to swing them around so much to get to what's inside.

I carry a pack. I don't have kids, so there's not that much I need to haul around. As for my wallet, I only take the necessary items and I use those paper room key holders you get at hotels when you check in. I'll use one for my credit cards, driver's license, medical cards, and of course our resort key. I'll bring a zip lock bag for my camera and cell. There are some other things I stuff in there such as ponchos for my boyfriend and me, tissues, wipes....so far it seems to work. The only down side to the pack is if I'll need a light jacket or sweater. If that's the case, I just tie it around my waist.

I also use a mini-messenger back with a strap that I wear diagonally from shoulder to hip. Inside:
-wallet with only the necessary cards
-cell phone
-keys
-sunscreen
-hand sanitizer
-bottle of water
-plenty of snacks
-small thing of medicine
-camera

I usually bring a windbreaker/rain jacket that I'm able to ball up inside too. I surprisingly have a ton of space that I don't use, especially after my friends raid the snacks  I've actually been able to fit all that in my normal small size purse too, I just prefer the longer strap.

Like most of the women I carry a small backpack or a pocketbook that goes across my body that isn't too large. I carry just the cards/money I need, my meds, lipgloss, and one of those small face sunscreens. The less the better!!

I carry a small purse type backpack (as opposed to a kid's school type backpack.)

Inside, I carry both mine and Love's glasses and case (to swap out with Rx sunglasses we wear when outside of a ride), mine and Love's cameras, little holder with ID/tickets/debit card, little bottle of assorted OTC stuff (like Tylenol, Immodium, etc.), chapstick, a little mirror, nail clippers (nothing worse than a little hangnail bugging you all day), pins for trading, a small folding fan I bought in Japan when it gets hot, and a few other such things.

We are locals so we only go out for the day which is why I try to carry a little bit of anything we might need. (It's not like we can go back to the hotel or anything.) Small purchases often get shoved into the backpack as well. (Like a box of Tea from the UK, or an antenna topper.)

Generally, I carry the bag, and Love carries the packages though.

If I'm going out solo or with people my own age range I don't take a bag at all unless I bring the camera.

But, If I'm with little ones I take my smaller messenger bag. It's lite and easy to carry around all day, but has lots of various sized open pockets so I never have to search for anything. Being able to find exactly what you are looking for in a fraction of a second, in my opinion, is the key to a less-stress day at Disney. Trust me, there is nothing like having to spend 10 minutes frantically searching for your camera while a great photo op passes you by or little ones rubbing their ice cream covered hands on your pants when you are rummaging for some wet wipes.

My essentials:
  • wet wipes
  • hand sanitizer
  • 2 or 3 kinds of snacks (dried fruit is great)
  • an extra bottle of water
  • a rain coat (a yellow Mickey one of course)
  • 4 AA and 4 AAA batteries (I always manage to buy something that requires batteries)
  • cell phone or 2-way radio (whichever you in you group)
  • a few empty bags (great for treasures you or the kids find)
  • first aid/sun kit (band-aids, med tape, sun screen, lip balm, etc.)
  • pens and pencils (twice as many as you think you'll need)
Other things I bring to keep my little cousins/nieces/nephews happy are the Disney Trivia Pursuit cards and my Zune. Those cards make the long lines better, we can normally get the people around us to play with us. The Zune is a big plus waiting for a parade or fireworks or a show; I load it up with lots of Disney movies and the kids love it. (So far the Zune has been a lot more kid-proof that my iPod is.)

My mom and I both carry messenger bags from LL Bean. We tend to carry things like our wallets, our cameras, park maps, sunglasses, bottle of water. Plus it gives us the room to put our hats when we go indoors and it gives us a place to stash any small purchases we may make, like pins, that we don't feel it necessary to send back to the resort or we don't want to go all the way back to the locker for.

hi all! this is a specific question for the ladies out there. do you carry a purse to the parks or just a backpack? either way .. what do you find necessary to keep in there? any tips???
I think I have tried every kind of bag there is.
This Sept., I am planning to take a lightweight bag (a little larger than my usual sized purse).
I have 3 kids, so I like to carry lots of extra "just in case" items.
I have 2 12X12 bags that I will probably alternate -- one has Tink on it & the other one has Cinderella on it.
