Kids on Walt's statue

Reminds me of the time I was in DHS inside the Walt Disney exhibit. There is a life-size photograph of Walt standing next to Mickey. A family came up and positioned themselves in front of Walt so that they could be next to Mickey in photos they were taking. I pointed out that they were blocking Walt Disney, the reason they were in WALT DISNEY World, not to mention the exhbit about him in the first place. They seemed oblivious to what they were doing.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
While working at T-Land, I had to get a small group of kids and young adults off the closed-off dance party stage in the middle of the day. They were mad because they were trying to shoot a music video...

Not really surprising. I mean, it is a statute in a kid's theme park.
It's not like he's buried there or anything... right?

Well that's what the bean-counters want. A nice kiddie park void of E-Ticket rides and just a bunch of meet & greets and merchandise shops where kids can get mickey ears in every style imaginable

My take.

If it you have to climb a fence and then walk through a thickly planted area to get to it, then you should know that you should not be there.

It looks to me like the picure was taken at night. I am guessing this family was there to see Wishes. While it is not what I would call proper behavior, Having been in the hub during Wishes this last June, and seeing the mayham that is there (especially with the construction fences) I can envision a family getting pushed, croweded, and shoved and having people stand in front of their kids until it gets to a point where they jump the fence.

On the other hand, I can also envision a family just thinking they are entitled and standing by the statue for no other reason.

Kind of hard to know what was going on without being there.

This is my point exactly! I have four children 16, 13, 11 and 6 and I would never and I mean never allow this. We have been to WDW many times and have been to this statue and if any of my children were to go over a fence, through flowers to climb on a statue I would be furious. The only time I allowed my daughter to be on the other side of the gates was in 2005 when her and many other young princesess were chosen the day before at The Grand Floridian to be on CBS morning show celebrating the 50th anniversay of Disney.

No Walt would not think it is fun. Disneyland opened with no fences around the grass areas and Walt had them put in after he saw guests cutting across the grass and trampling it. He was not happy about that then and I don't believe he would be happy about guests trampling the landscaping now.

Walt also signed off on the Matterhorn when people were trampling the grass between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland and using it as a "lovers lane" area.

Join me, together we can rule the galaxy.
This is wrong on so many levels. Encouraging your children, even allowing it, is just plain poor parenting at best and rude/disrespectful to the park, its guests and the cast members that have to replace/fix the broken shrubs that inevitably result from this.
