lee and spirit hit it on the head.

us fans of disney want to rush to the FLE, go nuts for it, and proclaim, "DISNEY IS BACK, BABY!" but the fact of the matter remains that this has inherent limitations that really suppress its ceiling for greatness (in short, because it's just one attraction to date, a restaurant, and a shop).

even if this is a strong expansion (admittedly, i haven't seen it yet), it's only a good first step (and one that has been on the drawing board for the better part of a decade, mind you).

once transformers is announced, we should see how optimistic we can get about disney's future. until then, i'm very happy they're finally utilizing dead space, but i'm not going to fawn all over it quite yet.

I think they could solve that visual intrusion relatively easily: demo the Speedway and build a new E-ticket mountain in its place. BAM! Space Mountain is blocked, Contemporary is blocked! :)

I vote for that solution.

Where'd you get that site plan graphic from? Hadn't seen that one before.
I believe it's attached to the big model of FLE at One Man's Dream. If you Google Image 'fantasyland model' a few photos of that site plan should show up.

There are many positives to the new area. WDW still needs some work, but this new area will help with capacity issues during peak times. It should open up a very congested part of the park and will allow the imagineers to focus on other improvements needed in the future.

All I really want to see an E-Ticket ride in Magic Kingdom. There hasn't been one since Splash Mountain, and that opened in 1992 after the Disneyland version. And none of the rides that are being added into FL are E-Ticket rides, not even SDMT. I agree with you 100% Steve, Magic Kingdom really needs to get an amazing, E-Ticket, original ride.
Just remember, CBJ and IASW were considered E-ticket rides.

I think we'd all appreciate it if you would get over yourself and hold your attitude in check. Especially when you are ragging on someone who has far more insider information than you have presented...

Are you out of your cotton-pickin' mind?! The evil spirit is not an insider at all. He's nothing more than a big fat liar with an axe to grind! And anyone (and I mean anyone) who supports him or says nice things about him are just as bad and need to stop being his parrots and sheep!

I think it's time we called the waaaambulance for you. The parks need new E tickets. MK hasn't had one in 20 years. I think it's fine that people would like to see a new one there, not to mention at the parks, most notably DAK and Epcot. Expect it to continue. So get over it.

No. Let's call the waaambulance on YOU...and on everyone else who continues to pressure MK for a new E-Ticket!

Let AK, DHS and Epcot get new E-Tickets and let MK be without a new one for a while. It already has a lot of them anyway, so let them fix what they already have first before making any more new additions!

Out of interest, with who does he have an axe to grind? Others on here with insider connections have backed his credentials so what makes you so sure he isn't an insider?

Everyone's got a right to their opinion, and with all of the photos of FLE, I wouldn't begrudge somebody for posting their impressions.

Seriously, though, Splash looks great years later, BTMRR has great rockwork too, though in DLR it needs some work. I think BoG will stand the test of time, but I don't think Mermaid is pretty in same way as BTMRR. I don't really ride BTMRR much at DLR, but justing walking by the attraction is nice as it is well done. I get that up close Mermaid's queue is interesting . . . but the big picture, IMHO, is that the castle could use some work, and the rockwork is a odd mix of realism and fanciful cinnamon buns and doesn't look visually pleasing such as Splash.

Is this really the level of Disney Seas?!

The facade itself? Hell yeah. Dat "masonry".

You are free to feel however you like about other people on the board, but you really don't have any right to tell other what they should believe or who they should trust.

The ones who make him so sure 74' isn't an insider are named Denial and Delusion. They visit CBF quite! often and might even be his BFFs. Along with Mickey of course.

'Heading into the Enchanted Forest you are immediately struck by how green and natural everything looks. The original Fantasyland doesn't really contain any trees, '

But that is not correct. The orginal Fantasyland had a huge amount of trees. From futuristic near TL, to exotic near 20k to Bavarian near PP. FL was one of the greenest areas of any Disney park area, complete with jungles, alpine forests, streams, endless waterfalls, vast rockwork, planters. It has been through neglect and poor design choices that FL was turned into a barren wasteland. As in so many other respects, the FLE isn't so much an 'expansion' as a reclamation, as in this case with trees and greenery:

Indeed. I have pictures too from when I was a little tike, Main Street was filled with trees from the train station right down to and around the hub, with shaded sitting areas. That was Main Street USA in the 70s. Now 2012 Main St. USA looks like Urban Blight, no trees or stick trees. Those Cherry Trees in the Spring were amazing in the hub. So the sitting areas and trees in the new FLE are a chip off the block of the old imagineers good judgement.

I never said those parks don't need E tickets as well. You say "let them fix what they already have first".. .sure. But adding rides that are massive draws, innovative, creative, as Disney used to be so good at are part of the solution. You can only make so much pretty scenery. At a certain point you have to have the attractions to back said scenery up.

I suppose I'd agree that the other parks have more need right at this point in time. However! The fact remains that MK hasnt gotten a new E ticket attraction in 20 years. It's high time for one. Not to mention that it is needed. So I will continue to call for a new E ticket in MK regardless of how many idiotic angry faces you throw my way.

Is it pretty? Yes. Groundbreaking? No.

And, my fear is, watch what happens over the next year as Park Ops runs the place into the ground.

-Dumbing down the BOG menu
-Cutting the Gaston M&G
-Getting rid of what little land specific merch they have
-Turning off the waterfalls
-Killing the equity acts that havent even started
-etc, etc, etc

I think we take for granted all the new E-ticket we have gotten in the past 10 years.

Mission:Space - 2003
Soarin' - 2005
Expedition Everest - 2005
Toy Story Mania -2008

Not to mention a Pirestes refurb and Mansion refurb. And we there was talk about TDS having a "e-ticket" caliber show well that's what LMA was meant to be. And PhilharMagic was also a nice addition to the MK. The new Test Track will also be a completely different experiance than the old one.
Most of new Fantasyland won't be meant for adults i.e. Belle princess hall and rapunzel but most of Fantasyland wasn't meant for adults anyways and as children grow up with these place it will become new memories for them and it looks like the 7DMTC while not a thunder it also won't be a Barnstormer

There is a difference between nice additions and E Tickets. My take is Everest is it is an E. In my children's lifetime E additions like Splash, Twilight, Rock'n are true E Ticket. Mission, oy, a hit or miss depending on the guest. Soarin, I love and Toy Story I enjoy but I'm hard pressed to put them in that E ticket major attraction category. Yes they were good additions however so much of the popularity is gauged by their long lines and wait times. My perspective is the long lines are more due their design and extremely slow load times not superior E attractions.

I will grant you Mission Space though I feel that the attraction has currently untapped potential.
Soarin' is arguably an E-Ticket. In my book it is
Everest is an E-Ticket except that the main feature of the ride is not working.
Toy Story MIDWAY Mania!does not come close to qualifying as an E Ticket, It is a nice d-ticket.
