This ride cost me a cell phone in 2012..I've never ridden it since and I have no love for it....of course it is a favorite of the grands. Sorry to hear it has not been maintained.

Yikes! I got soaked and have only ridden it once. I guess I wasn't too interested in the non-working themes because I didn't want to get too wet. LOL. I like the ride, but when I got off, you could see my pink panties under my drenched shorts! LOL. Some guy commented on my pink panties ( he was a nice guy being funny because I was so embarassed). Then I saw him and his family at EPCOT the next day, and he said " Hey! That's the lady with the pink panties!".:p

Popeye is 10,000 times better than Kali.

It is definitely better, but if you don't like getting soaked it's one to avoid. I think I'd have been dryer had I just jumped in and swam along side the raft. The same was true for everyone else in the raft both times I rode. The one redeeming part of Kali is that if you get lucky you just get a little wet while also being able to enjoy laughing at the person who is getting drowned.

Well, hopefully there are improvements once the park has extended hours leading into the evening. I was drenched head to toe the last time I was on it. The other people on the ride loved it. It would be a cool ride at night if all the effects work.

Roaring Rapids (White Water Rampage to us SFGAm Fans or Alums) has had many many effects not working (Water Cannons, Finale Water fall at full flow) especially the haunted cemetary within the Caverns sequence since the 80's has no strobes or AA's popping up like it use too..

Oh wow - I forgot about that! Even with those malfunctions it's still a decent ride.

We (6 of us total) rode about 6 times in a row one night during EMH. No lines so the CM just let us stay in the raft. That was back when all the effects worked. By the time we were done, we were all soaked, but being a water ride we were ok with that. That was only my second trip to WDW, now that I've been a few more times and I've seen what else is out there. I am in the "boat" with those who would like to see considerable improvements made to the ride, in both length and quality.

I've never been impressed with this ride at all. I ride it just because it's a ride at DAK and because it's hot outside. The best part of the attraction is the queue sadly.

Totally agree, out of the 11 times we've went my wife and I have only ridden it twice. Last year our daughter was tall enough to ride do make that three times. I wish they would've finished it and let off the environmental aspect of it. I don't want to be hit with global warming when I'm there.

Well I think it's still fun. I just remember chainsaws and maybe smoke last time? It is a shame no more fire.

Rat Barge in Universal is awesome though.

I like it, though, I have no intent to ride it next week. Last time I went, I forgot my poncho. I rode it anyway. Being early December, my intent was to hop directly to HS to see the Osborne lights. I was drenched and miserable. Needed to get back to the room ASAP to warm up with a shower and change.

Next week,I plan to hop from AK directly to Epcot for the Illuminations Dessert Party. Don't want to go through getting soaked again, even if I do bring my poncho. So, no Kali River Rapdis this time.

I warned everyone on my raft, "If you go down backwards, you'll get soaked." Guess who went down backwards? Sigh.
That happens to me on Kali. I ALWAYS wind up going backwards. I always wind up soaked. On a hot day, it's all good though. Just sucks being damp still and getting on one of the Disney buses back to the resort, with the AC pumping. Gets cold very fast.

To add insult to injury, we stopped at Blizzard Beach first. Really? I'm already wet. I needed a hot shower pronto and to change clothes ASAP.
