Google Earth was updated with newer imagery. Could that be an upcoming monkey disaster boat?

Wondering if Disneyland will get a Trader Sam's Gift Shop. This reeks of hypocrisy. If liking Trader Sam in Jungle Cruise is racist, what is shopping at a Trader Sam's store. Did Disney pay in shrunken heads?

That isn't a real gift store and yes Disneyland will get it as the concept art is depicting the DL version of the scene (there's no ruin-like wall at that part in WDW's JC).

Everyone should avoid anything with Trader Sam. Hold Disney to the same standard, not this apparent double standard that they're cashing in on. This is so laughingly bad. It is corporate tone deafness. Besides making Disney theme parks less fun, Woke is making the obvious laid bare. This is outrageously racist.

"Word on the stream is that Alberta Falls, proprietor of the Jungle Navigation Company Ltd., has entrusted her longtime friend, Trader Sam, to manage the new Lost & Found location. But, with Trader Sam being Trader Sam, there’s always an opportunity to make some extra money. After all, all the best rides end with a gift shop, right?"

So Trader Sam is a hired hand and he still has his name on Alberta Falls' shop?

Are you under the impression that this is a literal Trader Sam store that you can shop at? Your posts seem to imply that you are. This is a new scene replacing the old scene where the Trader Sam figure stood. So, how is Disney "cashing in" on anything by changing the scene? And how is this humanless new vignette "outrageously racist"? The Trader Sam name was never problematic, just the depiction. This fixes that.

Reading comprehension is hard, huh?

Sam is Alberta's friend, and is running the lost and found, he's not a "hired hand" working at "Alberta Falls' shop." Being the opportunistic salesman character that he is, he has instead taken it as a business opportunity and is selling the items from the lost and found. Not really that hard to comprehend.

Yes, I was under the impression that it was an actual shop and not a scene depiction. Okay, I'll concede I made a mistake.

Yes, it would still be problematic since Trader Sam is the problem and shifting it to just the name makes it just as bad. Disney is still cashing in on it. Do you think Disney won't sell mugs and t-shirts with Trader Sam's name all over the place?

So running the lost and found means he's doing it for free since he's doing a favor? Or he's just trying to make a living out of it since he can't do it for free? It's worse garbage explanation. I suppose Sam has a day job and the lost and found is an honor system. No, he's out of money and he's cashing in like Disney.

I've been pointing out, this 'fix' is even more racist than the original 'problem'. Now they won't show Trader Sam, as his appearance is offensive, and they've made him a criminal... Guess we're supposed to think that of people from Sam's background according to Disney.

Where does it state he's a criminal? I agree it's stupid of them to continue to use his name, but can you give me a direct quote of someone saying how Trader Sam is now a criminal?

I mean, the backstory certainly did not mention that he asked Ms. Falls to sell items from the lost and found... being the backstory explains everything else. Disney does say "with Trader Sam being Trader Sam"... sounds like profiling to me...

Are we going to have shrunken wallet jokes instead of shrunken heads jokes? Or maybe a little of both.

"If you lose something, you'll pay for it on your way out. Don't lose your heads if you still have it. Trader Sam will sell your shrunken head if you get mad about losing your wallet."

"Don't complain to Alberta Falls. Trader Sam is his loyal servant. Alberta is on the take."

"Sam don't mind a little blood on his hands. Alberta won't know or if he does, so what? Trader Sam will sell the knife that cut many tourists."

"If you lose it, Trader Sam will find it. If you didn't lose it, you will and he'll sell it back to you or the highest bidder."

"Be sure to take all your belongings when you disembark. You don't want to ask it back from Trader Sam. He'll mistake it for stealing from his new gift shop and he will deal with you in shrunken heads."

Just an update but the DL President announced JC will be reopening with the new scenes this summer:

https:///2021/04/disneylands-jungle-cruise-lp1/

It's cool there are a few additions and changes to look forward to after a year of closing. Add a brand new land (AC), it should be enough to get locals and tourists more excited to come this summer.

Add to that, Galaxy's Edge hasn't been open to the public for more than 10 months. There's a lot of people who still haven't seen it, my family and friends included.

So true! Even crazier that ROTR was only opened for about 3 months before the shut down. Both the land and especially that ride are still spanking new and something most people haven't experienced yet, including my own mother. It's going to be fun to take her this year because she'll have two new lands and three brand new rides to experience not counting the updated attractions like JC.
