The problem with DAK is not that the rides it has are poor, as they're not. They could be better, but they're not a bad staple of D and E tickets. The problem is that there are no supporting rides. Its a similar issue that I see with IOA. You can't fill a park with only E-ticket rides. You need a number of much smaller family rides to make the entire park palpable. To me the smaller rides make up the meat of the visit with the E-tickets making up the frosting.

While I know what you are getting at, I would argue that if DAK had anywhere close to the collection of quality rides IOA has I guarantee you nobody would be complaining. AK would rival the Magic Kingdom.

Anyway, sorry...I didn't mean to turn this into another 'what's wrong with DAK' thread.

I'm going to guess you never saw him when he actually worked. He was very, very impressive then.

I most certainly did see him in his glory days, and he was very impressive. I just think that they should be able to make something much lighter that could do the same sort of swoop and reach.

Maybe the Saudi Prince was there as a financial backer for a Middle Eastern Land coming to Animal Kingdom. He wanted to see the space available and the plans before he dumped his cash all in.

Just an idea - thinking out loud.

re: The Yeti

Why he was ever built to use "the force of a 747" in the first place. It seems to me that he should be almost featherweight -- practically a puppet -- but built to look much more substantial. At least that's what he should be replaced with. Not sure why they can't Imagineer such a thing.

The smarter you are the more you over think everything.

I don't see the Middle East as being compelling enough as far as animals goes.

AK seems like in the most desperate need of an attraction of any of the four parks. If we all recognize this Disney has to as well. Right???

None of our insiders however are even hinting that something may be announced for DAK. Nothing. Silence. Even the new twitter hero, ThemeParkOne, hasn't spoken of a single thing for Animal Kingdom.

An addition has to be in the planning stages, but it looks to me like we are half a decade off from any real movement.

Joe is the lead designer for the park. He's there fairly frequently.
Nothing to get excited about. It's like seeing Jacobsen at MK or Baxter at Disneyland.

This. Rodhe is there quite a lot. My friend once saw him at Yak and Yeti just eating lunch like a normal guest.

Though I completely agree with you on DAK's need for new life, I don't think TDO sees any park as having a desperate need. If they did, they'd have new attractions already. While we're on the subject, when and what was the last addition to DAK - not EE, was it?

If he was a normal guest, he would be simultaneously eating AND counting down the seconds until he could get another FastPass.

Instead, he was probably plotting some new amazing that they could add to DAK

A few months after EE, Finding Nemo the Musical opened replacing Tarzan Rocks. Since then there have been minor temporary Entertainment additions as well as some changes in the animal roster but nothing on the scope of a new ride/show or animal exhibit.

The Cotton Top Tamarins returned to the Discovery Island trails, but it's not a major exhibit.

Noticed this in may. I like it much better now in front of the tree of life! Anyone have a pic of their new habitat? I thought I took one but I guess not?!

The Seas with Nemo and Friends is at EPCOT? I think you might mean "Finding Nemo the Musical"?
