But WWWD?

Would Walt greenlight his coming back from the grave?

No way. Walt never showed any signs of Zombie Glorification in anything he did.

Sure the HM. But none of those undead are actually making decisions for major American companies.

So I wouldn't in any way believe that Walt might be coming back TubaGeek.

He froze himself beneath the COP where he is today waiting to be thawed. Who knows? The next living character may be Zombie Walt. Now THAT would be impressive Imagineering.

I had heard a very slight rumor that they were looking at reviving the fantasy element at AK, but as far as I know, it would have little to nothing to do with the original BK concept. So much so that even referring to it as BK is probably off base.

This quote makes me think that something is definitely in the works but Beastly Kingdom itself may never occur....is this fantasy element as big as an entire land or as small scaled as a parade?

the podcast that jim hill is a part of is Nathan Rose's "Magical Definition Podcast".

i am never quite sure how i feel about jim hill. a lot of the stuff he says angers me to no end, but i still keep checking back to read his stuff....so he must be doing something right....

for the record....i am with the one poster who didn't understand why everyone hates the characters so much. seems like they picked the wrong park/company to have an interest in if they hate characters.... being that the Walt Disney company is based on Walt Disney's...you know....characters.

jeff.

The reason most people feel that way about Jim Hill is because he is essentially the only lifeline we have to Disney, since they don't reveal anything themselves. He posts articles on a daily basis which gives people their "fix" and makes people assume that he must be credible, due to his dedication. In all actuality, everything he posts is just rumors, as is with anyone who says they know whats going on. Its very simple to say "this or that" is happening and then preface it with "well this is Disney, so if I end up being wrong, its because they changed their minds". Being a Disney rumor monger is the perfect job, cause you are never wrong.

Well I enjoy Jim Hill and he has never been totally off base or wrong. Alot of things he has reported over the years I've ended up seeing elsewhere. And his history stories are great and engaging, although he doesn't always end them.

That said, Screamscape today is also reporting that plans for a different incarnation of Beastly Kingdom have been dusted off, as well as plans for a C or D ticket attraction. I really think AK needs one more land to feel like a complete experience. Until EE opened, I never truly enjoyed AK. I appreciated it but it never felt like it was worth the same amount of admission as the other parks. However, since EE opened AK has become my 2nd favorite park. But the park still has this enormous gap around Camp Mickey/Minnie and Dinoland feels like a bit of a filler.

I have my fingers crossed that something new will come along soon.

I think another ride in dinoland would make it much more impressive...how about Prehistoric Soarin'? I think it would be an easy solution with great results...

To add to that:

???? - Beastly Kingdom - In Redesign - (3/27/08) From what we’ve been told, Beastly Kingdom is still alive and well… but like a Vegas buffet, the actual contents are constantly shifting in and out of rotation as new ideas come up as well as to reflect the possible budget numbers that may allow the project to finally get off the ground. This means that they have an assortment of attraction concepts ranging from kid friendly up to Super E-Ticket thrill machines all filed away in a variety of possible option packages for the day when the Walt Disney World checkbook finally comes out. Like many have said… it’s not a matter of “IF” Beastly Kingdom happens, only a matter of “WHEN” it will eventually happen.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
Between Camp Minnie-Mickey, Rafiki's Planet Watch, and Dino-Rama (unless Disney finally does something to REALLY differentiate it from a normal crappy carnival), AK has a lot of catching up to do. The catch is, if BK is going to be any good, I'm not sure how much TLC the other parks will get... financially speaking.

Animal Kingdom needs alot more rides to make it a full days park. I went the Saturday before easter and the place was packed but still left at 1pm after doing everything I wanted to do. They need to add another E-ticket and several good entertaining dark rides for the kids. If you watch Lion King 2 1/2, there is a funny attempt of a dark ride by Pumba and Timon. My kids love watching it and this would make a great additional to animal kingdom.

This Night Disney concept sounds interesting but I think building a separate park is a big mistake. If they are going to do something like this it, should be built next to a existing park, so when it does not work they could just combine it with the park and save millions. So they should build it in the very back of the animal kingdom with a back enterance from Western Way. If it fails just retheme it and combine it with Animal Kingdom.

I don't get the beastly kingdom. It's imaginary things? Thats dumb. AK is seeing real animals and riding crazy stuff (Dinosaur, EE, KS). If its called beaslty kingdom let me see dangerous animals (rattlesnakes, aka some deadly animals). I would rather see some pinguins and underwater animals than imaginary ones. Can someone please explain this beastly kingdom thing and why people would want to go there. Add an australia kindgom or something.

That concept was part of the Animal Kingdom concept from the beginning!
Did you ever look at the logo?
Animal_Kingdom.jpg

See that guy in the center?

And the motto from the opening ceremony:

Welcome to a kingdom of animals... real, ancient and imagined: a kingdom ruled by lions, dinosaurs and dragons; a kingdom of balance, harmony and survival; a kingdom we enter to share in the wonder, gaze at the beauty, thrill at the drama, and learn.

—Michael Eisner April 22, 1998

And I seem to remember a parallel motto, although I can't find a quote

Something along the lines of ....home to animals that are, were and never were...

So, this is not a new concept we are talking about here.

Ah, Bestly Kingdom...the rumor that just won't die. Ill believe it when I hear Disney announce it. Thats all the proof I need. Until then, this will be a rumor and only that (although the most persistant one ever.)

I think that's a really good idea but in terms of the theme, it would have to be in the "Dinosaur" area instead of the Dinorama area, and I'm not sure what they have for room.

It just keeps coming up because it is a no-brainer rumor. Of course they are going to be incorporating a new land eventually. So they just keep bringing it up and eventually the rumor-mongers can say "Told ya! Look at me, I've got insider secrets!" No, your just persistent with common sense information.

Also, I would even doubt it would be called Beastly Kingdom. You have the Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom which are two separate parks. If you put a place called Beastly Kingdom inside Animal Kingdom, your going to confuse a ton of guests who assume that it is a wholly different park that they have to leave Animal Kingdom and travel to.

This is the "rumor" section on the board. I find it fun to talk about these rumors and can care less if they came from Jim Hill or not. While some people may have better track records than others on the rumors, they are still all rumors to me until they are made. I just like to dicuss the possibilities of these rumors as that's all the fun!

I really do like the idea of Beastly Kingdom and think that the imgaineers could definetly tie it into the rest of the land just fine. I also have no problems with using more of Disney's assets which include all the classic characters.

Just my 2 cents.

Jim Hill Media is not one of the most credible rumormonger sites out there.

That said, sadly RoL was recently killed very far along in its development process. And while 'infrastructure issues' is the official spin for why -- and Steve Davison's spectacles have been known to never consider park ops when they're created (Remember at DL anyone?) -- it is safe to assume the reason this was killed was because Rasulo wants his boutique animal park and he doesn't want DAK open late to compete.

As for BK, it id dead. Totally. Utterly. And completely.

It has been for years and Joe Rohde will tell anyone as much.

That said, there will be additions that follow the park's goal of attractions about 'animals that never were' ... so mythical creatures like the Yeti will find a home.

But what Hill wrote about having a Disney character-based BK just isn't true at all (not that someone hasn't proposed it, I'm sure!)

I know Rasulo doesn't have a lot of support on these forums. Can someone identify some things that he was behind both positive or negative?

I know people will say Beastly Kingdomme is dead and will never be brought back, but I think Disney is always leaving the idea open.

Think of it this way, after 10 years, they still never changed the dragon outside the gates, the logo, or some of the parking lots (like Unicorn).

That's why I think they are leaving this idea open to come back in one form or another.
