It looks like the sharks' aesthetic facades, or their "skins," were removed early on, leaving behind their "mechanical bodies" which are no doubt heavily attached to the machinery.

If you look back at various photos and videos from over the years, you'll notice some slight differences in the various generations of skins, such as paint details in the cut wounds, etc.

I'm not sure where the skins went, but the machine elements were obviously not worth saving. Thankfully, we've got plenty of photos that illustrate the mechanics of what was going on below the surface.

For comparison, here you can see the (skinless) shark body that's been decapitated, and how it looked with its head still attached.

This is the gas dock shark.

Some online reports are saying the boathouse queue was being torn down today... pictures would be appreciated LOL...

Queue buidling (with white elephant doors) and adjacent prop boats are gone. Maintenance boathouse, church, and unloading dock (skipper break room) are still standing.

It's a Shame to see it torn down and thrown out. Especially for it to be replaced with something I don't really care for. But, then again I was devastated when bttf went but I'm still impressed with the Simpsons.

It just sucks that Harry potter is taking over like Pixar is at wdw.

Well Pixar IS Disney just as much as Winnie the Pooh and Cinderella.

Eh... simpsons was funny but not impressive... mostly because if you don't get a car in the bottom middle of the theather you can see the back wall and other cars...

Pictures of the boat house queue reduced to rubble..

http://www.amusementpics.com/UONN12.htm

Pictures were from February 15th..... I love that site for their awesome pictures!!!

To be clear, there were a number of structures at JAWS that could be referred to as "boathouses," given the theme of the attraction. The structure that was most recently demolished (as shown in those photos) was the entire queue building. The queue was essentially 3 portions, or buildings, that were interconnected to form one large queue structure: the entrance (with the iconic white elephant doors), the overflow (used for HHN houses), and the loading dock/control room.

This:

Is now this:

The maintenance boathouse was still standing yesterday, but that could be going down as we speak.

Yes, the referenced site is a nice site for a couple of photo updates, but I wish that they would update it more often, or add more photos and angles (being that they're already there doing it). If this were a demolition taking place at WDW, we would probably be seeing more frequent updates on related fansites.

Question: Were the adjacent prop boats (between the Oakley store and queue building) moved off-site or simply demolished as well?

Also, it looks like some of the fixtures were removed (such as the lanterns on the white posts along the picket fence in the queue area) prior to demo. I wouldn't mind having a couple of those to put out back by the pool.

Edit: Said lanterns:

These are already located in prop storage for uses such as HHN. I would not be shocked at all to see those and similar old Cap. Jakes/amity items appear for whatever could call for them at HHN such as a Nautical theme.

"These" being the boats, the lanterns, or both?

Thanks for the info. The boats remained present well into the demo, so I thought they were demolished as well.

HHN use makes sense, as we've seen the "nautical" theme pop up pretty frequently; including 2011's "The Forsaken." I wouldn't be surprised if a bit of guerrilla marketing led to stirring up fanboy buzz about "various Jaws props hidden throughout the house" in 2012.

The "green is Universal" slogan printed on the trash cans isn't just hyperbole; Universal sure does like to re-use and recycle their HHN props.

2014 - Potter Phase 2 / London / Project 722 - (2/29/12) Lets talk a bit more about that Hogwarts Express project today. According to Screamscape sources the transportation ride hardware may be provided by Doppelmayr, who recently created the Ocean Express themed funicular transportation system for Ocean Park in Hong Kong that travels through a 1.3 Kilometer long tunnel and through the use of a two train system, it can transport up to 5000 passengers an hour in each direction. Also of interest here is the fact that the inside of these trains were wired up with fake video screens pretending to be glass-ceiling panels for an undersea voyage. Sounds a little familiar?

While the Hogwarts Express wont be a Funicular going up a hill, or even through a tunnel, the company does also make a series of regular cable powered shuttles that transport riders on aerial tramways. You’ll find a few of these in Las Vegas or various airports around the world. Now, the insides of these cable cars will be an entirely different matter, and will appear more like the inside of what I believe is called a “sleeper car”. (Forgive me if I’ve used the wrong term… I’m not train person.) The interior will feature a narrow walkway down one side of the car, with individual doors leading into the separate rooms, each furnished with a pair of face-to-face seating bench seats, with a single large window (ie: video screen) to the outside world on the far wall end. This will be your window into the Wizarding World for the duration of your journey between London and Hogsmeade.

It will be interesting to see how they balance thematic ride experience with the inherent utility of transportation.

The "sleeper car" concept doesn't sound very practical for efficient loading/unloading of heavy guest traffic, not to mention employee monitoring of so many secluded "spaces" for things like guest safety (behavior), making sure that guest items aren't left behind, cleaning, and other related employee responsibilities. I expect to see a more practical, open design.

The other question is whether the trains will travel at an intentionally reduced speed to better incorporate the "ride" experience. The distance between the two points would make for a very short ride at any reasonable speed.

Three minutes in length is good enough to be honest... So the train can move slow since the distance isn't all too far between stations... The movie clip can make the ride feel like it is going faster...

I'm really curious as to how they will pull this off...
