It's Over! =( Trip Report 8/29-9/07 ton of pics

Okay so here I am my first full day at home after a wonderful 2 week vacation! We spent 9 full days at WDW followed by a nice relaxing stay at the beach.

This is sort of a preview of the trip to hit the highlights before the actual report. I took a ton of pictures (close to 3000) I am going through them now, should be posting by tomorrow!

So onto the highlights!

Got a rose at check in for our anniversary- so sweet! It dried perfectly.

I started and ended this vacation with a hideous eye infection which kinda stunk because I could not wear my much needed contacts and I do not wear glasses- so needless to say my first views of the MK were very blurry! But that was okay it did not keep me down. Day 3-8 all was okay and after drops it has all cleared up now!

Weather- Great! We really had only one rainy day even though the forecast looked so bleak. We got soaked at Epcot one day, it was a total downpour. (we did so much I don't even know what day that was but anyway) We had a ball anyway and I got some really cool pictures so it did not stop us. After that there was wind and the threat of rain and one quick shower at DHS. We hit Star Tours and by then it was all over and clear.

Crowds~ Great even the first Friday and through Labor Day were not bad at all. After Labor Day it was nothing, the best I have seen it in a long time! The only day that was really bad was Friday September 6th (our last day) and I have to say that that was the most crowded I have seen MK since I was there in 2000 near Thanksgiving. With Wishes nearing waits for Space Mountain were at 50 minutes!

New- (to me)
Toy Story Mania- Wonderful!!!! We were able to take this ride in 6 times in this trip and we enjoyed every ride. The first weekend fastpasses were gone by about 2:00 or so. We got FPs and then got straight in line our first day. It is so worth the hype to me. I took a kazillion pics too. To show the lack of crowds when we left at 3ish on the 5th there were still FPs available.

Haunted Mansion- First time riding since the refurb- Loved it, it was great- especially the Bride and the staircase scenes.

Yak & Yeti -counter service- I was so impressed with the food here. You get soooo much food and it really tasty, much better than I expected.

MNSSHP- Well I did not get to see Brer Rabbit! I don't know if he was there or not but WOW! There is so much to do and see we could not fit it all in. I will be sure to do it again next year. I loved Hallowishes- it was so good and the Villain Mix and Mingle was great too. We ended up with about 10 pounds of candy too. Haunted Mansion was really great, even if we did get the crap scared out of us in line- the CMs really get into it.Loved the Headless Horseman & the Boo to You Parade too- it was so great seeing all the things we had read about for so long.

Dining- Was packed even if the park was not. Service was good at most places we ate. Some things that I wanted to point out both good and bad follow-

Hollywood Brown Derby- The crab Cake has grown! ( it is so much bigger than last year) Which is good because I love it! The steak that took the place of the filet was really nasty though. It is soaked in coke and is just way to sweet for me, I hated it. We did the Fantasmic package and I thought the seats were great as long as you get there early and get close to the rope which we did. My only complaint is that they really should watch the people that sneak under the rope from the other side, that really ticked me off! Fantasmic was really wonderful I had not seen it in a few years and I am still so bummed that they are cutting it back. It is way better than any nighttime show in my opinion anyway. We were given free champagne at Brown Derby for our anniversary too. (very nice)

Le Cellier- AWESOME!! So glad we finally got to eat here. The filet was cooked perfectly (or for me and DS raw as DH says) We were given a Magical Moments certificate for our anniversary here too and free champagne. This is a must do from here on out!

Mama Melrose- Would not do this again- service was just okay, very rushed feeling and the food was not that good at all. The steak was overcooked and not tender as the name suggests at all.

Boma- Usually one of my favorites, not that great this time. There was not near as much offered on the buffet this trip and it just did not taste as good as I remembered at all. Maybe it was a bad night- I dunno- service was great though.

Liberty Tree Tavern- I am so sad to see this go as a character meal. :( We always have the best experiences here. It is not so rushed like Chef Mickey's. It just so fits.Anyway lots of great pictures and details to follow tomorrow.

Chef Mickey's (dinner) It was fun and I love the celebration for our anniversary. For character interaction I like breakfast better though.

Coral Reef- Food and atmosphere was good- server was okay.

Crystal Palace breakfast- first time there in the morning- great even if our monorail was late, I did not get to get as many pics as I wanted on the way in but it was still a great experience. The characters here are great in the time that they spend at your table too.

Other notables...

I conquered my ToT fear!!!!!
Rode it 5 times! Screamed like a baby the first two times but I made myself ride it back to back and it was not that bad! I really like it now and I am very proud of myself!

EE- The backwards part is the coolest feeling and not near as bad as I remembered either. Both sides of the water were working while were there, last year it was only th eone.

Splash Mountain- Brer Frog was still MIA our whole trip, I really missed the little guy. Also, DH says I am really weird for noticing but anyway.. the porcipine playing the turtle drums left eye was messed up and stuck half open the whole first part of our trip- I noticed they fixed it and he was working the last day.

Much more to come and again tons o pics, soon as I get them organized and loaded !

looking forward to the rest of the report, and I love lots of pics!! I really will have to try La Cellier, though. Everytime I want to eat there, my friend says, "but you can have steak anywhere". I just really want to try it-maybe my trip in October!

Thanks for the comments guys! We really did have a great time. Sorry I am slow with getting everything loaded. :brick: I promise I will get all the pics up soon.

^We did stay at AS Movies. =) Which was nice, very clean which was a relief after some of the threads I had read about bedbugs! LOL

Day 1

We arrived around noon and went to check in (we couldn't yet, but that was okay) The really nice CM gave DH a rose to give me for our anniversary. It was very sweet! :) (I was waiting in the car)

We then headed straight to MK!!

Where our first view of the castle was with the crane. Glad it cam down so I could get some better pics later.

I had always seen the really cool pictures of the balloons that are posted on here so I tried to snap one, mine was not as good though

Disney08091.jpg

Then I snapped a picture of the Partners Statue

Disney08095.jpg

and we made the mad dash to Splash Mountain like we always do. The wait for that time of the day was not that bad considering it was a Friday and really hot.We got the front seats and got soaked which felt pretty good since it was a scorcher that day.
100_3131.jpg

We were all starving to death by this point so we got FP to ride again and then headed to Pecos Bill's which was as good as I remembered it. :slurp:

After that we hit Splash again (did I mention that we really love this ride??) then on to Big Thunder. Wait was posted at 20 but it really was about 10 or so. We then strolled to HM as we were all very excited to see the changes since it was down for refurb our last trip. Again it was great love all the new and better details-

I have only uploaded one disk out of four of my pictures so I will go back and add other pics that I have not made it too.

Continuing day one arrival day-

I think we may have backtracked and hit Pirates before moving on to Philharmagic (I love that show!) then we hit COP (one of our favorites)

Disney08754.jpg

I really hope this attraction never leaves.

We took in a few rides on Space after that. So glad we got to ride it again this trip before it goes down. I must say that I am hoping it is a bit smoother when they are done though, it kills my neck!

We took in Monster's Laugh Floor and then headed out to get ready for a big day in our first full day.
Snapped this of my fave chipmunks on the way out-

An emptyish main Street

100_3100-1.jpg

We got to see some characters that we had not seen and also got to see Alice & the mad Hatter on the tea cups. They rode right after we did.

100_3519.jpg

Funny thing that I learned too, I swore that I would never get on the teacups again and I was the one that spinned it out of control??:ROFLOL:Just only look at the person you are riding with and I did not get sick.

Anyway here is DD screaming at me to stop!

We as usual, hit all our fave rides and then headed to Epcot and the rain rain rain, came down down down!! LOL
We hung out at the monorail stationto let it die down and then headed to Mission Space where the kids rode and stayed dry while we got drenched when the sky really opened up. I froze to death on Soarin' I was so wet. We finally got the top row and it so much better when you don't see feet above you. Regardless I really like that ride. Fastpasses were available all day while we there by the way. Standby was around 40 minutes much lower than the 90 it was both our trips last year. Crowds were really nothing.

Few pics

and this one which I have no idea why I found so incredibly funny other than the Grand Marnier I had followed by something in Morocco.:ROFLOL:I don't think that was it though. We had sooo much fun and laughed more than any trip we have ever taken- man I hated to have to come home!

102_4438.jpg

Many More coming up later including DHS & AK and MNSSHP! (I found another card that I did not realize I took so some of these are going to be out of order as I sort through them too)

2nd day we spent the entire day at DHS (which I still can't stop calling MGM) We got there at opening and it felt so strange to not head for Sunset and instead make a mad dash to TSM where I got FP for the family and then we got into line to ride. As I said earlier, we all loved this ride. They really did such a great job with it. I had the high score in our family of around 150,000. The only thing that I don't like about Pixar Place is that Buzz & Woody were moved from their old spot only because it made the line to see them so long witht the crowds in the area. We used to just basically walk up with very little wait unless a muppets show had just let out. Speaking of the old Al's Toy Barn area- it looks as if the Cars meet & greet is coming along nicely. ( I have a few pics of that too coming up later.

After that we headed to ride Rockin Roller Coaster and everyone but me rode ToT. It would be later in the trip that I finally made myself do it. I stopped by Fairfax Fries while they were riding it and was given my fries and drink as a Magical Moment for our anniversary by the very sweet CMs working there. =)

Love your report so far!

Hmm..I might have to take some pics at RnRC when I'm there next...love me some Aerosmith!

Thank you! I like them too. I took pics of everything, thought DH was going to kill me since he carried the camera bag and everytime he put it up I wanted it again.

Some more random DHS pics

ToT queue from when I decided to try it. I was scared to death and it didn't help I don't think when the bellhop wished us a Happy Anniversary and said hoped it wasn't our last. I think I made the ride very enjoyable for everyone else as I screamed bloody murder the whole time at least judging by their laughs.

I don'tt hink I ended up with any Fantasmic pics because I was taping it but I will check, I did get this one walking in to the show of ToT

Also took a close-up of the picture of Walt at One Man's Dream that I thought was pretty neat
