It's Over! =( Trip Report 8/29-9/07 ton of pics

Okay so here I am my first full day at home after a wonderful 2 week vacation! We spent 9 full days at WDW followed by a nice relaxing stay at the beach.

This is sort of a preview of the trip to hit the highlights before the actual report. I took a ton of pictures (close to 3000) I am going through them now, should be posting by tomorrow!

So onto the highlights!

Got a rose at check in for our anniversary- so sweet! It dried perfectly.

I started and ended this vacation with a hideous eye infection which kinda stunk because I could not wear my much needed contacts and I do not wear glasses- so needless to say my first views of the MK were very blurry! But that was okay it did not keep me down. Day 3-8 all was okay and after drops it has all cleared up now!

Weather- Great! We really had only one rainy day even though the forecast looked so bleak. We got soaked at Epcot one day, it was a total downpour. (we did so much I don't even know what day that was but anyway) We had a ball anyway and I got some really cool pictures so it did not stop us. After that there was wind and the threat of rain and one quick shower at DHS. We hit Star Tours and by then it was all over and clear.

Crowds~ Great even the first Friday and through Labor Day were not bad at all. After Labor Day it was nothing, the best I have seen it in a long time! The only day that was really bad was Friday September 6th (our last day) and I have to say that that was the most crowded I have seen MK since I was there in 2000 near Thanksgiving. With Wishes nearing waits for Space Mountain were at 50 minutes!

New- (to me)
Toy Story Mania- Wonderful!!!! We were able to take this ride in 6 times in this trip and we enjoyed every ride. The first weekend fastpasses were gone by about 2:00 or so. We got FPs and then got straight in line our first day. It is so worth the hype to me. I took a kazillion pics too. To show the lack of crowds when we left at 3ish on the 5th there were still FPs available.

Haunted Mansion- First time riding since the refurb- Loved it, it was great- especially the Bride and the staircase scenes.

Yak & Yeti -counter service- I was so impressed with the food here. You get soooo much food and it really tasty, much better than I expected.

MNSSHP- Well I did not get to see Brer Rabbit! I don't know if he was there or not but WOW! There is so much to do and see we could not fit it all in. I will be sure to do it again next year. I loved Hallowishes- it was so good and the Villain Mix and Mingle was great too. We ended up with about 10 pounds of candy too. Haunted Mansion was really great, even if we did get the crap scared out of us in line- the CMs really get into it.Loved the Headless Horseman & the Boo to You Parade too- it was so great seeing all the things we had read about for so long.

Dining- Was packed even if the park was not. Service was good at most places we ate. Some things that I wanted to point out both good and bad follow-

Hollywood Brown Derby- The crab Cake has grown! ( it is so much bigger than last year) Which is good because I love it! The steak that took the place of the filet was really nasty though. It is soaked in coke and is just way to sweet for me, I hated it. We did the Fantasmic package and I thought the seats were great as long as you get there early and get close to the rope which we did. My only complaint is that they really should watch the people that sneak under the rope from the other side, that really ticked me off! Fantasmic was really wonderful I had not seen it in a few years and I am still so bummed that they are cutting it back. It is way better than any nighttime show in my opinion anyway. We were given free champagne at Brown Derby for our anniversary too. (very nice)

Le Cellier- AWESOME!! So glad we finally got to eat here. The filet was cooked perfectly (or for me and DS raw as DH says) We were given a Magical Moments certificate for our anniversary here too and free champagne. This is a must do from here on out!

Mama Melrose- Would not do this again- service was just okay, very rushed feeling and the food was not that good at all. The steak was overcooked and not tender as the name suggests at all.

Boma- Usually one of my favorites, not that great this time. There was not near as much offered on the buffet this trip and it just did not taste as good as I remembered at all. Maybe it was a bad night- I dunno- service was great though.

Liberty Tree Tavern- I am so sad to see this go as a character meal. :( We always have the best experiences here. It is not so rushed like Chef Mickey's. It just so fits.Anyway lots of great pictures and details to follow tomorrow.

Chef Mickey's (dinner) It was fun and I love the celebration for our anniversary. For character interaction I like breakfast better though.

Coral Reef- Food and atmosphere was good- server was okay.

Crystal Palace breakfast- first time there in the morning- great even if our monorail was late, I did not get to get as many pics as I wanted on the way in but it was still a great experience. The characters here are great in the time that they spend at your table too.

Other notables...

I conquered my ToT fear!!!!!
Rode it 5 times! Screamed like a baby the first two times but I made myself ride it back to back and it was not that bad! I really like it now and I am very proud of myself!

EE- The backwards part is the coolest feeling and not near as bad as I remembered either. Both sides of the water were working while were there, last year it was only th eone.

Splash Mountain- Brer Frog was still MIA our whole trip, I really missed the little guy. Also, DH says I am really weird for noticing but anyway.. the porcipine playing the turtle drums left eye was messed up and stuck half open the whole first part of our trip- I noticed they fixed it and he was working the last day.

Much more to come and again tons o pics, soon as I get them organized and loaded !

^ Thanks! Glad you are enjoying it. =)

The first thing that happened to us here was so neat. As some of you may recall from last year's report, we won Dream Fastpasses at MK. Well this year we did not 'win' them but this really nice family came up to us and gave us theirs on our way in because they were leaving and could not use them. It was just so nice that it was an even better moment than winning them.

DD & I had just had this pic snapped when they gave them to us.

We headed straight for EE. I really like this ride after I had convinced myself that the backwards part was to rough, it really is not but it is very intense the feeling that it creates as you are pulled back up. Great Ride!

This pic DS snapped the next day I think that we were there. One thing I love about Photopass we are all always in those pics! :ROFLOL:

Food at Yak & Yeti Counter Service- We ordered sides of rice too and we had no idea you were going to get that much food! Everything was really good too, the Shrimp Lo Mein was full of shrimp.

I always enjoy the show that these guys put on and these ladies were having a great time dancing.

After this we stepped right over from the Dawa Bar and set on the little planter in front of the restroom. Awesome place for the parade. Dh got some great video.

A few Kali River Rapids queue line. The line was long this day for this ride so I had plenty of time to snap pics. It was the longest that we waited for any ride (30 mins or so) probably because it was so hot & muggy!

and.... is this a hidden Kermit??Or just a frog? Looked just like him so I snapped a pic, not very clear since by the time I saw it we were moving again.

ASIAN TIGER..

Disney08189.jpg

I got so tickled listening to the CM's tone that said that, we are still laughing about it. Like I said earlier we were silly this trip! =)~

Thanks Mattyfresh, I took so many pics it is hard to decide which ones to post! DH is already planning our next trip and it is usually me that does that so I think I finally really gave him the Disney bug this year, works out great for me... :lookaroun

On the way out we saw this for the first time.. The CMs held us back as we were walking out and I am like why is Minnie on that truck?? I thought it was from the parade or something then they said surprise and we followed it out to the front where they gave us a really cute goodbye-

Liberty Tree Tavern- I wish so bad they would not take away the characters here, it is so much better than Chef Mickey's because you get so much more time with them, it is my favorite of all the character meals.

Love your pics!! :sohappy:

I am so proud of you for conquering your fear of ToT. I wanted to so badly, but I chickened out. :o And I've ridden it before! But the last time was 12 years ago, and I've gotten myself too worked up with fear to ride it again. I did try Mission:Space for the first time, though. (green side)

Thanks Kristin! :) I am loading the Halloween pics right now.
I need to upload the pic that DH took of the ride photo, it is blurry but you can see that I am having heart failure! I rode it one time in February last year and I refused to get on it again. My kids kept on and on until I made myself do it twice in a row-I really was pretty mad at them for making me do it, until it was over-it is intense but not near as bad as I made it out to be. There is no way I will try Mission Space Orange but at least the kid's let me off the hook on that one since I did ToT. :o I don't imagine however that I will ever ride it and not scream like a baby. :lookaroun

And now on to the best time ever! We loved the MNSSHP even DH & DS got so into it. We had so much fun, I was shocked at how fast the time passed. This was our second to last day- I won't waste words and just let the pics speak for themselves-

Loving the report and all the wonderful pictures. Glad to hear I'm not the only screamer on ToT. My first and only ride was great fun for a couple of teenage girls, so much so they wanted me to ride with them a second time. I feared my heart would not hold up to a second ride...lol
Can't wait to hear and see some more.

Great report and pictures!

I like this one - where was it?

Thanks  this was in Tomorrowland near the Speedway. I think it was across from the trick or treating area.

I was really amazed as I said at how the time flew by at the party. I did not get to do everything that I wanted to do but that just means I need to go back next year. We split up for a bit because the guys wanted to do a few rides and DD & I caught the Villian Mix & Mingle. Awewome! I videoed it though so I don't have any pics to share.

Another thing that was great was the Haunted Mansion. DS and I rode it together while Dad & Daughter got face painting done. They do a great job of making it more spooky. There was a girl standing in the corner before the stretching room that scared us to death. She moved onto the area just as the ride starts the second ride and succeeded in scaring us again. lol

One other really cute thing that we got on video was Jesse in the background at the Diamond HorseShoe meeting spot was so cute dancing in the background as the parade went by waving to the characters. If I can figure out how to transfer the discs to the computer in a file that can uploaded I will post.

More parade coming up later-

I'm loving your mnsshp pictures! But don't tell me you didn't get everything done. I'm already feeling nervous that we won't possible have time to do everything we want to do. I'm wondering if it's worth it to spend the money for two nights, but don't tell my hubby that.

Thank you! The main thing that we didn't get to do as much of was the character meet & greets and I was really bummed about that. With hitting the shows & parade and the candy line we just ran out of time. I would say it was definately worth the price to do it twice. DH griped about paying the extra money for it at first but he loved it so much that I think he would have done it again if we could have. (he is planning a full costume for next year...lol) It really was the funnest time I have ever had at WDW and that is saying alot considering how much fun I always have anyway..lol

OMG I am getting goose bumps over your pics. I will be there in 3 days:) Great pics thanks for sharing !!!

Glad you are enjoying them and hope you have a wonderful trip! :) I am already ready to go back.

Continuing with more MNSSHP

I suggest going two nights....and the next time I go during this time I will try to make two nights. One night for all the parties, candy, parade, and hallowishes. The second night just to take advantage of all the rides I can fit in that time period.
