It's Cold

We sometimes get snow in March in MD. I wouldn't mind it. I really don't fee like going to school. Especially since I graduate on May 30 no matter what.

I remember back in I believe 2004, we had snow in mid May. And our schools have used up all of their snow days. Teachers already have to make one up. One more and spring break gets cut a day short (Easter Monday). Any snow days after that are made up on June 12th, 13th, 14th and so on. Seniors graduate on June 2nd, so they wouldn't have to make any June days up.

We're far enough South that we don't get snow quite that late into the year. If we did, my family would probably jump in the car and just head to Disney.

Freshman year (2010) was snowmagendon. We were out for over 2 weeks, we used up all 7 snow days and the state forgave several days so we weren't going into July. That was the year that it went into March. I have a picture where the snow was literally up past my knee. This may not seem like much for a lot of areas, but for Maryland, it was a ton. Sophomore year (2011) we had quite a bit of snow. I was down in Disney for a lot of it. I was supposed to miss four days and only missed one. And I came back tan, which was sort of fun. We saw no snow Junior year (2012), but directly north of us in York, PA, there was a freak snow storm on Halloween. We just got rain. We did get the first three days of school off for a hurricane. Some schools got even more time due to no power. It was nice to get out early though. We got out on the 9th, which is practically unheard of. This year, we used three snow days. They were for Sandy. Not supposed to get any more snow, at least not in the next 10 days. The rest of the school population will probably have a few days knocked off. Before high school, I really can't recall with detail the snow.

Our problem is mostly the ice. We get ice and the roads freeze up and make driving unsafe. Schools frequently go in one or two hours late because of this. They can usually clear off the roads during this time, or it will warm up and the ice melts. I'm just completely ready to be done. Our last day is May 24th, technically. Make up exams are usually the last week, so I won't have to go in at all that last week (hopefully). I'll be in sporadically all of May, depending on when exams are.

Getting Spring Break cut would be horrible. We get days added on at the end of the year, but they leave Spring Break alone. We get 6 days off, but not Easter Monday. Which is a little strange.

Freezing rain, sleet, and snow today, with more freezing rain coming. On the bright side, it's supposed to be sunny next week and hit 50 on Wednesday.

Grr. I am so ready for winter to end. And cold season. Especially since my cold is now a double ear infection.
Hope you feel better soon! Try not to worry about anything except maybe you schoolwork. Get pleanty of rest and lots of fluids! May you dream of Disney!

I know it's a lot for Maryland, but I remember driving on a country road once and the snow was taller than my car! It was literally a wall of snow to one side of me. How they got the snow to the side of the road like that is beyond me. It was kind of cool though.

I always chuckle when places like Texas get an inch of snow and everything is closed down.

At this point in the year, anything under 35 is cold. 35-40 is chilly, 41-50 is warm, 51-60 is hot and 61+ is burning. This is for February of course.
