Oh, I tried going someplace warm. I applied to U of Central Florida and College of Charleston, SC, but it looks like I'm staying here. A small private college about 25 minutes from home offered me a lot of money to go there, and I basically can't refuse it. Too good an offer. I was fairly limited in my options because of my asthma. UCF had the only doable dorms because they're newer and you only have to share a bathroom with one other person and you get your own room, and at Charleston I would have been living with relatives. There were a bunch of schools up here within driving distance, and so that cuts the cost dramatically by living at home. I plan to do the Disney college program either sophomore or junior year, and as soon as I'm done college, I'm moving to Orlando. Want to try to work at Disney as a manager or someone in a position of authority. While I'm in college, I'll be spending breaks down South. My dad promised that I'd be able to go to Disney with a friend in January every year before spring semester starts (and that he'd pay for the hotel room). And we spend part of winter break in South Carolina.Just hold on graduation is coming soon! Where are you going to college? Some place warm I hope!
Keep warm it looks like you're going to get it worse than me!No school. Am watching it snow. They salted the roads before I even made it home yesterday. And my economics teacher emailed us all homework.![]()
No power and falling trees is what is so bad about these storms. I assume you have a generator. Even down here (GA) it gets really cold when we lose power. I lost power last night for a short time because of the high winds. Luckily, it came back on before the house starting getting cold as we have a bird we have to keep warm. The C^%P just really started coming down and the wind is blowing like no tomorrow! I just hope I don't loose power!![]()
No generator but a kerosene heaer that keeps the house like Fl. in summer, a camp stove and 2 grills! We survived for a week after Sandy with no problems! No power and falling trees is what is so bad about these storms. I assume you have a generator. I really feel for you guys. Stay warm and safe.
Not too much snow, less than expected. Probably will have to go back to school tomorrow. Today, I watched Wreck-it Ralph and did homework. Very productive day. Am hoping that it freezes overnight so we can go late tomorrow. Off completely would be preferable, but probably not going to happen.
I know; this storm was a blessing in disguise. I had a Spanish project where I had to make a Hispanic recipe, so I did it today. I'm finishing some homework right now, then going to bed. Have a migraine. That's the bad thing about this storm. Headaches.I had yesterday off and I got 5.5 pages done on a 6 page essay that due on Friday. It was so great to get all of that done. So much less stress in my life right now.
South Florida Cold Weather Report
* I am wearing socks inside of my house because the tile flooring still feels a bit cold on my feet. The need to launder socks more often is killing me.
* I had to turn on the A/C again this morning, but it didn't cycle on yet. The suspense is killing me.
* I had to put away some afghans from the one-day cold front that we had a few days ago. This extra housework is killing me.
* I had to drive past a Rita's Italian Ice place last night and eat Jelly Bellies instead. The...well, this one was OK.
Stay tuned for further updates, and remember those of us who are suffering in this non-ninety degree high temperature weather.
