StitchKingdom has some concept art for the its a small world interactive queue apparently being added in the future. Looks like the SSE postcard thing basically.

Why do I feel like these "interactive" ques are just akin to high end McDonald's Playplaces??

These are worthless, especially on rides like Small World.

I like the art, but the idea of monitors being installed all over the place makes me want to throw up a little. That park is going to have more monitors in it than a discount electronics warehouse. Which really cheapens the place. Why can't next gen be an investment in three-dimensional set pieces that are just as interactive? I guess they already have an issue with maintenance and they know it, so monitors it is! Honestly, it sounds alot like SSE ending. I can't believe they didn't learn their lesson on that one.

Another observation--look at the headline below this one on Stitch Kingdom. Disneyland is hiring for a girl's singing group to do 1920s, 30, and 40s songs in the style of Ella Fitzgerald and such on Buena Vista street. Now that is something I can get excited about. THAT is Disney entertainment I will book a trip for. This interactive non-sense? Please. It's something I'll ignore and not a single thing I've heard about "next gen" has really made me interested in booking a trip to experience. That is sad for anyone who loves WDW.

I have to sadly agree with this.
All of these monitors are making the place look cheap.
Why can't guests just enjoy a nice ride without having some monitor in their face telling them to do things? I'd rather just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Without even looking at the concept art for IASW...I'm afraid to, really...I think I'm with you. My poor, poor WDW...what are these people thinking?! Did someone high up go to Six Flags or something and find themselves impressed with the monitors in the queues??? Yes, I do really love WDW. No, I don't want to go back anytime soon. Just too sad overall.

I am, however, totally jacked planning cruises and my first trip to DL!

Something about all of that just doesn't sound right to me. A NextGen queue really doesn't make any sense since that ride has a great capacity and the line is always moving. This almost seems like more of a Postshow type idea (don't they have something similar in DLP?), where you could send something home after the experience.

This is just a rumor though, with only a few pieces of minimal artwork. I won't get too worried about it until I start hearing/seeing more from other sources.

Next thing you know, TDO will believe the yeti projection in E:E is too "boring" and "outdated" and replace that with a monitor where you can shoot lasers at the yeti shadow...

Monitors! Monitors everywhere! :(

When are they going to realize that you can't capture an audience with just screens. If I wanted to look at a screen at WDW I could be in my hotel room watching TV or even at home watching TV!

Wow, don't know what to say about this. Seems a bit excessive at the least. If anything all the money they've been pouring into these interactive queues could have been poured into new rides with new immersive queues. I rather have new places to explore then new "outfits" on rides that have been around for decades. SMH, it finally seems that the reality of the situation is true.

I feel like the line moves at a steady enough pace that they shouldn't need anything in the queue. As far as them putting monitors on the boats as the article suggests, would it even be possible to run the electricity to the boats?

Not to mention monitors should NEVER be put on the iasw boats.

High capacity with a moving line... Hmmm... Like Haunted Mansion?

I get it for rides like space. Long standby with not much to do. But rides with short lines and high capacity that aren't even slowed by FP? Ugh.

That's an accurate characterization. Is WDW trying to ensure that nobody over the age of 10 enjoys the parks? All of this NextGen stuff seems geared toward that mindset, given the deplorable state of the HM and Space interactive queues. Even the Pooh queue, which I like, could have been done more tastefully without all of the noisemakers. I suppose this shouldn't come as a surprise, though, that NextGen is making the parks more childish (in a negative way). One need only look at how the parks are marketed in any recent WDW commercial to see the direction that the future of the parks is currently headed in.

Exactly!! I spend thousands of dollars at WDW each year. I have an annual pass. I travel several times a year and stay in Disney Resorts, I am a D23 member, etc.

I spend a lot of money on Disney. For the first time ever, I seriously started to visualize the letter I would write to TDO letting them know why I won't be vacationing there anymore.

I don't want to watch tv screens, squeeze horns, ring bells, etc, lol. WDW is turning into a nursery, a billion dollar nursery.

When the Space and Pooh queues were introduced I thought these were kinda "pre" next-gen stuff, like we'd see something truly mind-blowing after that, but as more time goes on, I agree, it seems like simple diversions for the kids and nothing else.
