The food looks good, sorry you had bad luck with rides. At least the avocado stuff on the tostada looks like it could be brushed off fairly easy and not spread all over for you. How was the Coke bar at DS?
It was good! We got a watermelon blast that was some watermelon soda with ice cream and trix cereal on top. Very sweet, but it was good. We're sharing most things so we don't get too full and so I don't eat too unhealthy.

Yup, it's too bad we can't try as much food by getting two entrées but we haven't eaten way too much in a sitting yet and I don't have to feel bad about wasting food this way. Pretty good deal all things considered.

We ate a bunch of food festival stuff... China is amazing! The tostada was fantastic except for the avacado foam because it has cilantro. We had bad luck with rides... Every time we wanted to ride something, it went down. Imagination, down. SSE, down. Frozen kept glitching so our 30 minute wait turned into a hour. But we did get to do Soarin' and got front row at the end towards the middle, so no dangling feet and no bent eifel Tower. Fantastic! We also did LWtL and the one in the Mexican pavilion. When SSE went down, we headed to DS for the Coca-Cola rooftop bar.

Germany :schinkennudelen and apple strudel with vanilla sauce. The apple strudel was so good, but I wouldn't get the cheese pasta again. It was ok, but the cheese was too chewy.

Alps: Warm raclette with fingerling potatoes and baguette. We ordered ours without the pickles. It was good until the cheese cooled and wasn't melty. You can also get it with ham.

China: pan fried chicken dumplings and a crispy duck bao bun. Both were fantastic and I went and got another bao bun because it was so good.

Tostada with pork something... I know there were beans, and some sort of cheese, and I think chives? I loved it, but would get it without the avacado or guac Mousse, whatever it was. It had cilantro in it and I hate cilantro. Without that, it would have been perfect.

Baguette has no place being served with raclette. 😉

It's been a morning. We had issues getting into the park. Note to self, don't go at park opening. Do early entry right when it starts, or go later in the morning. The general public opening is not efficient!

Vanilla Crème Brulee with strawberry jam. Disappointing. There's not much vanilla flavor and the strawberry jam is a bit bland. Not a great dish.

Watched a couple of voices of Liberty shows. A few familiar faces. Aaron is still here, Elodie, Kelly,... Krista and Kyle were both here the other day, but not today.

Apparently Kate only subs now, which is sad, but they have a new soprano who is pretty good. I noticed a couple of new ones who have some trouble with the higher notes, but I'm sure they will get there. They hit them, but I could tell it was a bit uncomfortable and they really had to push. But when the practice, they'll get it. I have such a hard time not singing along!

Not a thing there? The potatoes were really good, but the cheese got gloopy really quickly. We discovered it was best not to get a LOT of cheese on the potatoes and I didn't eat it with the bread at all.

No, not with raclette. Raclette is always melted cheese poured over potatoes. The cheese can either be from a large half wheel, which is heated on one side and then the melted cheese scraped off (hence the name raclette, because to scrape is “racler" in French) or now you can get machines that have little spatulas that you put a slice of cheese on and then slide under a heating lamp.

And cheese fondue is normally served with bread that you dip into the melted cheese (which stays over a burner/flame to keep it liquid. Many restaurants here will now give you potatoes if you ask (I would imagine because of gluten allergies) and I like having both.

The cheese used for raclette is not the same as the cheese(s) used in fondue.

That's a nice photo of you and your daughter with a few of the singers. I've always enjoyed the Voices of Liberty. (Since I haven't been down to WDW in over 5 years, I was wondering if the women singers don't wear the longer dresses anymore, or if they just wear regular dresses in the hotter months.)

No, they stopped having them wear the period costumes around 2021 if I remember correctly. I actually miss the old costuming because it represented the USA during the colonial times which so many of their songs are about.

During the pandemic, they had to move outside to the big stage, so they couldn't wear those big heavy dresses. Now they are back inside, but the new costumes are still being designed. They lost a lot of their singers when they closed for Covid and they have a bunch of new singers, but now they need new costumes.

I know most people like them better inside under the dome but I liked them (and Mariachi Cobre) better when they were on the stage outside. I liked having a nice bench to sit on and relax and listen. Don’t get me wrong I will still listen to them wherever they are.

Side note: they is (was) a singer in Voices of Liberty that looks exactly like one of our librarians in our town. When I see her perform I always think “hi Laurie!” As that is our librarian’s name. I showed Laurie a picture of the VOL singers and she thought it was funny and that they did look alike.
The look alike is the lady in the sleeveless dress.

Krista told us they are going to get period clothing again eventually, but it takes a while and it's expensive to redesign. But they will eventually go back to something more old school.

We are now at POR to see Yeeha Bob. When VoL were finished, we headed for SSE. FANTASTIC pictures of our future.

For your amusement:

It's a good look for me, don't you think?

Then we went across to LWTL and Soarin ' which was awesome because we got first row middle. It was so cool. There was a little boy about... 4 or 5 maybe and he jumped every time there was a transition and then as soon as the ride stopped he started sobbing. I didn't know what happened because he seemed enthralled, but then I heard mom say "otra vez" and my good friend Google says that means "again". So apparently he was very sad that the ride ended. It was adorable!

We were waiting for a POR bus when this large family was headed in our direction, with 2 kids in front around 5-6 years old and they looked like they were racing. They were running full-tilt, which is already a bad idea at Disney. Then the little boy used his hip and elbow to shove the girl aside, she slammed into the gate things and maybe a trash can next to it... At any rate she went flying and then hit something and she started screaming in pain. And then I got super ticked at the dad, who says "I'm sure it was an accident". And an older boy probably around 12 says "Dad, that was OBVIOUSLY not an accident!" and the dad is insisting it was when it was clearly not! And I'm sure he was trying to diffuse the situation, but that sends HORRIBLE messages to kids. You tell the little boy that he can purposely hurt someone (and she could have gotten seriously hurt!) and just say it was an accident and you won't get in trouble, and you tell the girl that it's OK for someone to abuse her and she's not allowed to be upset because we can't accuse people... We have to be nice and pretend it was an accident. Fortunately the mother seemed more on top of things and she went and had a little chat with the boy who then started having a tantrum because he was being held accountable for his actions. He starts screaming, runs away from her, shouting "leave me alone!" which she did not. They were not getting on the POR bus so I don't know how it ended. The dad had to pick the girl up and carry her, but I hope she's OK and it was nothing serious. She hit soooo hard.

And now we are freezing at POR River Roost waiting for Yeeha Bob.
