Is WDW Security Serious?

The discussion has been mostly about MK's Security however i find it way less likely that MK could have something bad happen, especially since you have to ride a monorail or boat to get to the Magic Kingdom. I would think Epcot would be a bigger target for extremist due to its message of peace and unity.
Along with western culture excesses of food, alcohol and affluence. Unless of course they have seen the Imagination Pavilion lately, then we can drop off the affluent part.

No the security isnt being serious, in fact they're being incredibly sarcastic. Wait, that's not what you meant? Well this is awkward...

He took it out and placed it in the bin with everything else in his pockets and walked through the metal detector. The security guard passed the bin back to him without looking at it and said have a nice day. Soooo nowhere is completely safe no matter what, they do the best they can.

It has been well documented that Disney World does not consider small folding knives (blade under 3 inches) to be a weapon and will allow them in the parks. I even called and confirmed with Disney World customer service prior to our last trip.

1. If Disney does something right, nothing bad will happen.
2. Nothing bad happened.
3. Therefore Disney did something right.

This is false because it precludes any other reason that nothing bad has happened.

There's actually a Latin term - "Post hoc, ergo propter hoc", which roughly translates as "after, therefore because of". In plain English, it's as you said - a group of actions occur, and then there's a result, and that result is because of the group of actions. And this is the false thinking - the result might be because of the group of actions, or it might be for some entirely different reason.

Indeed. I generally don't use Latin phrases unless:

1. It is in fairly common usage, e.g. "ad hominem".*

2. I'm trying to be esoteric. :D

*note I used e.g. instead of exempli gratia because it fails #1 and I'm not in the mood for #2. :p

Why would anyone need a 3 inch pocket knife in one of the parks at WDW to the point of actually calling to ask? Most food wrappers are easily removed, its unlikely you'll be cutting open boxes or fighting off a ninja squirrel.

Because I always carry one and use it every day. I didn't attack anyone and complied with Disney's rules, so no need to worry yourself about it.

An adult pacifier. Defense against an assault weapon or satchel bomb. Or a defiant Turkey Leg.
You never can tell when you may need to cut somebody in a theme park. It's filled with angry, militant people especially those small ones cleverly disguised as children. Have you ever seen the way they act when they don't get their own way, talk about meltdown city. One must be cautious.

Cute, it is a tool, used for opening things, and cutting tags off things, and complies with Disney policy.

I have been assured that Disney security would have put a bullet in my head had I decided to go jihad with my little swiss army knife.

I don't really care, I just wondered how I have gotten along for 68 years without carrying a knife. All the things you are describing I have done with a simple pair of nail clippers. Even cut a 1/4 in. rope with it. It must be the MacGyver in me. Do what you want, as long as it is going to do no harm, it really doesn't matter even a tiny bit to me. To me it's like using a Sherman Tank to kill a gnat. But, that is your business and not mine.

I never said it was not compliant, nor that I was worried. It just seems a little overcompensating when you need a 3 inch blade to cut the tag off that 30.00 T-shirt.

MK would be a great target especially on holidays when the hub is full during a show or parade. Terrorists want to hurt the most people in the most efficient way possible.
