Is This The Real Life? Is This Just Fantasy? - All Aboard the Disney Fantasy 3/23/13-3/30/13

Hi everyone!! I'm back for one more trip report!! This time it's my journey on the Disney Fantasy. My family decided to cruise again with Disney (we cruised on the Magic in 2010) and they did not disappoint.

Our sail dates were March 23 - March 30th. We also stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge on the 30th since it was easier to fly back the next day. You can read about my 4 parks in one day solo adventure here.

Day 6: March 28, 2013 - Day at Sea

I didn't take many pictures this day mainly due to the fact that I didn't really get any shots with the characters and that I didn't really do many things worth photographing.

Our last day at sea started off with a fairly easy morning. I started the morning off in the room watching Toy Story with my sister. We then went up to Cabanas so we could grab a quick bite to eat before our last detective mission.

We still had to do to the case of the missing puppies, so we signed up yet again at the station on deck 5 midship. Throughout the mission we ran into Daisy and we also made a stop at the store so we never really finished it. My sister got really into Chip and Dale this week so of course she wanted the plushes of them in their ship attire. I wound up getting a pin and a vinylmation.

My sister wanted to see some of the characters which she missed the day before so I took her around to see Aladdin/Genie, Snow White/Dopey, Stitch, and Chip/Dale. Chip and Dale got really excited when they saw the plush version of them! We also ran into the character dance party along the way.

It was nearing 3:00 so we headed toward the Walt Disney Theatre so we could see the matinee of Believe! Luckily we were able to get a seat in the front row which was awesome. The only thing I did not like about being up so close is that the smoke (which was used a lot) smelled awful and often drifted out into the audience.

Overall, the show was great! I really enjoyed the Circle of Life and the scene featuring Princess and the Frog. It was all a lot of fun and both my sister and I liked the show a lot. My favorite show from the week was still Aladdin though. I liked it more since there was more of a story to it. The other two shows did have story lines, but not as strong as the Aladdin story line.

After the show we hung out at the pool for a bit and then I took a little bit of a nap. Dinner was in the Enchanted Garden yet again. I wasn’t really in the best mood mainly because the reality of having to go back to school and to make a college decision was approaching fast and I didn’t really want to think about that while still onboard the ship.

I got mashed potatoes as an appetizer because I’m a difficult eater and because I didn’t really care for any of the appetizers that were on the menu. For my entree I got both the pork and the chicken. I really enjoyed both of them! The pork had a nice sauce and was served over some kind of creamy potato. The chicken was amazing and was served over pasta! I ended up getting a side order of the pasta in addition to what was on the plate. So I ate quite a lot for dinner. I wasn’t really feeling desert, so I just got a mickey bar which I barely ate.

After desert I went to the tube with my parents and we watched “Match Your Mate” which is similar to the Newlywed Show, except none of the couples were newlyweds. It was really funny so that was fun! We also saw the cabaret show of a juggler that was on America’s Got Talent (I forget his name). He was a really good juggler and was very entertaining.

Afterwards we headed back to the room so we could get some sleep to prepare for our fun filled day at Castway Cay!

I think for the Fantasy they had Mickey (3 outfits), Minnie (4 outfits), Donald (3 outfits), Daisy (3 outfits), Chip and Dale (2 outfits), Goofy (3 outfits), Pluto, Snow White, Dopey, Aladdin (street rat and Prince Ali), Genie, Jake the Neverland Pirate, Captain Hook, Mr. Smee, Lilo, Stitch, Peter Pan, Tiana, Cinderella, Aurora, Ariel, Phineas/Ferb, Woody, Jessie, Buzz, Tinkerbelle, Pinocchio, Jack Sparrow, and Max.

The only ones that I missed were Max and Tinkerbelle. I was bummed that he never appeared in the atrium although I wasn't too upset over missing Tink.

Yep, I was able to get all of those for the VIPs (my favorite would probably be the Formal-Night outfits).

Wow, I am so impressed with you. And to "get" the magic at a young age is great. You will have a lifetime of fun with Disney.

Great TR. Makes me think we should take a cruise!

Thankyou!! I definitely recommend cruising on the Fantasy!

Awesome!! The formal night outfits were great! I think Minnie's was my favorite. Unfortunately I only got Chip and Dale in their tuxedos. The lines for the other characters were too long to wait for. Hopefully next time!!

Thanks so much!! I definitely plan on having a lifetime of fun with Disney! I want to do the college program so I'm hoping that will allow me to network and possibly secure a position with the company later down the road!

Great report still! San Juan did look great!
I always put the popcorn in the soup! It is much better that way! :)

San Juan was amazing! I had a lot of fun there and I think it would be cool to spend more time there on a vacation. The popcorn soup was a lot better than I thought it would be. Totally out of my comfort zone since I'm a picky eater but I'm glad I chose to have it! :)

Day 7: March 29, 2013 - Castaway Cay

Today was Castaway Cay day, which was our final port for our week long adventure! I was really excited to spend the entire day relaxing on the beach. Being a senior in high school really takes a lot out of me these days so it was incredibly nice to lay on the beach without a care in the world.

Once we were given the announcement that it was okay to disembark the ship we headed down to the aft gangway. BIG MISTAKE. Almost everyone else onboard had that same idea since I guess it was closer to the island than the one forward was. The line was all the way up to deck 4. Instead we walked over to the midship gangway and got off in about 2 minutes as opposed to the 30 it would have taken if we had waited for the aft gangway.

As we were walking off the ship we literally almost ran into Chip and Dale. It was a bummer that their set was done, but we were able to see Stitch since he was just hanging there. I also saw Donald standing there (my favorite) but no one else wanted to wait... so we continued on, until we saw Goofy and of course we stopped, because who doesn’t love character interaction?

I went to take my brother to where the Edge kids were and then went to find my dad. Of course I didn’t have a working wave phone with me so it was a little difficult. Along the way I did stop to say hi to Pluto since I hadn’t seen him at all this week.

I quickly found where were sitting and took up one of the loungers which was great. I sat out in the sun for awhile and read some book about working at WDW. I learned a lot interesting things, which was neat since I would love to do the college program in the fall of 2014!!

I was feeling hungry, so I went over to Cookies Too for some lunch, which was fantastic! I had a cheeseburger, cookie, chicken, and some corn on the cob. All of it was very delicious! After lunch I layed out in the sun for a little bit longer and then decided it was time for a bike ride.

My dad and I rented some bikes and off we were biking through the island. We passed some of the cabanas, which looked incredible. I would have LOVED to have gotten one of them for the day. We also saw the adult beach and found a pelican in the water which was fun.

After our bike ride it was time for the stingray adventure which was fun. It was cool and everything, but I would not do it again. We had booked it last time we were here but unfortunately it was cancelled for some reason. Basically we learned a little about stingrays, got in the water and fed the stingrays (which was odd, the way they took the food from us), and then we could snorkel. I’m not a big snorkeler, so naturally I passed on that opportunity.

We made our way back to the boat and I got ready for See Ya Real Soon since I wanted to see what it was. I thought maybe it was going to be really crowded, but I was completely wrong. I was able to see almost every single character that was out. I did not see Cinderella or Tiana which is okay since I had seen them already during the week. I didn’t even have to wait for some of the characters which was awesome!

I went back to the room to watch us sail away from Castaway Cay and then went to the evening show which was An Unforgettable Journey. It was similar to the show on the first night. I enjoyed it, but got bored at some points.

Our last dinner was in the Royal Court for which I had chicken and a baked potato for my entree. I didn’t care for anything on the regular menu. After dinner, I went to the tube with my parents for battle of the sexes which was funny. Afterwards, I got my last late night snack up at Luigi’s and went to bed since I had a LONG day ahead of me the next day.

Overall the trip was fantastic and I would definitely sail with Disney again. I would like to try the Wonder or the Dream, but I wouldn’t say no to the Fantasy again!! Everything about the ship was phenomenal. The service was great, the entertainment was awesome, the food was to die for, and the character interactions were very memorable!

Hooray for another awesome TR! Loved the pics of Castaway Cay, I would love to be laying on that beach right about now!

Thanks :). Castaway Cay was just lovely. The beach was so relaxing and the wonderful characters were there as well. Definition of paradise island right there! :)

Yeah, it did require a lot of running back and forth. However, I didn't mind (as I am a HUGE character fan). Hopefully you'll get to see them next time

And definitely consider the CP! I did 6 programs, and loved my experiences

It definitely did! I wish they brought out the formally dressed characters at night like they did with Chip and Dale. They brought them out in their tuxes at the most random times which I thought was interesting, but if like Mickey was coming out at night it would be captain Mickey.

I plan on applying for Fall 2014 so hopefully all goes well with that! :)

On my last cruise, they only wore the formal-wear on the Formal/SemiFormal nights. The other nights for the VIPs were Halloween costumes (it was a Halloween cruise), Pirate outfits, and sailor on the last night. I don't believe they were out the other 2 (I think one might have been sailor as well).

That's awesome! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you

Oh I'm so jealous you got them in Halloween costumes! That must have been great.

Thankyou! I hope it all goes well although there's still such a long time until applications become available (February, I think), but I've been researching it like crazy.

Your pictures are amazing! I'm jealous that you got to meet that many rare characters on the ship, I wish it was like that at WDW more often instead of just for the paid events. I've been thinking about doing a Disney cruise, your trip looked like a blast!
