We grabbed some lunch at a local pizza shop which was great, but it took forever. I think we were in there for a total of two hours. I was getting really annoyed and antsy, but that’s how it usually is at that place apparently. The pizza was really good once we got it though!
After lunch we started to make our way over toward the shops and browsed for a while. The sidewalks were really small and it was crowded so that wasn’t pleasant, but it was fun to look in the shops. We saw some more nicely colored buildings, one of which was in the Rum Diaries with Johnny Depp!
We didn’t have anything else planned after looking in the shops so we headed back toward the gangway and said goodbye to our friend and then went back onto the ship.
Oz: The Great and Powerful was playing in the Buena Vista Theatre so I decided to go and check it out!
First thing is that the theatre was packed so either a) many people skipped out on it the night before or b) many people just loved it so much that they had to see it again. I was shocked that many people were there considering we were still docked at the port and had at least another 2 hours of being in San Juan, but luckily I was able to snag a seat on the aisle in one of the upper rows.
The movie was really good but I wouldn’t say that it was great. I thought that the use of black and white at the beginning (similar to that in the Wizard of Oz) was a nice effect. The land of Oz was also really neat. I did think that the first half of the movie was slow and boring. The real action of the movie didn’t come until the end. So I would have to say that the best part of the movie was the last 45 minutes. I’m glad that they were showing this onboard the ship since I don’t think I would have been too pleased if I had paid the ridiculous price to see this back at home.
After the movie let out I went back to the room to grab the camera and then went out on a character hunt. My mission was to see Lilo and Stitch, Snow White and Dopey, and Aladdin and Genie. My absolute must see was Dopey though! I’ve always loved the seven dwarfs and was very fortunate to see them all on Main Street USA at MK in WDW back in 1998 when I was three. I still somewhat remember meeting them, although seeing home video has really helped me remember it more. I had such a great interaction with all seven of the dwarfs and I was really sad when they pulled them from the parks and only brought them out for special occasions, which I think is stupid... but whatever nothing I can personally do about that.
Anyways, I hopped in line for Lilo and Stitch who were a lot of fun. We all pretended that we were surfing on the Hawaiian Roller Coaster ride. One thing that was kind of frustrating is that they changed up their poses on me mid photo so I was a little confused, but other than that they were a lot of fun. At the beginning of the cruise I was a little annoyed that Stitch had so much attention onboard (he was in the welcome aboard show, he appeared multiple times a day, etc.) but I really warmed up to him by the end of the week! So yay for Stitch!! Still no yay for his ride at WDW.
It was almost time for Snow White and Dopey to come out so I went over into the atrium to hop in line so I could guarantee that I saw them. I was able to see them and Dopey was really awesome! Mission accomplished there! I think I probably would have flipped if all seven of the dwarfs appeared onboard. That would have been great!!
After seeing Snow White and Dopey, I headed up to deck 4 to catch Aladdin and Genie who I also was successfully able to meet! I was kind of hoping to see Aladdin in his Prince Ali outfit, but instead he was in his street rat clothes! Oh well!! He did randomly appear in his Prince Ali outfit the night that “Aladdin: A Musical Spectacular” was being performed in the Walt Disney Theatre.
