Is the clock ticking on the Sorcerer Mickey Hat icon at the Studios? YES!

I know this is OT but with everyone focused on the demise of the BAH (Yippee!), I was wondering if anyone has checked to see if there is anything going on in the old BLT area?

So all the stars and moons are gone?
Yes, but we left you some hearts and clovers.

I just want to stand on that catwalk...

I wish they had someone just standing on there dressed as a Bond villain, or maybe have a chair and some monitors to imply that was a secret lair all along.

Boy, does it look like a Big Condom now.

Made gif of earlier hat destruction video posted here by BrerJon. Video owner appears to be ViewFromTheCheapSeats on youtube.
Tada:happy:

Awesome work! I could watch that all day.

In the eagerness to see just the brim this morning... I failed to notice the work on the 'ears' too. Some panels have come down yesterday. And overnight more of the skin of the hand was removed. The hand is basically just the skeleton now (sides gone now)

I assume they'll take that left ear's panel off in that big chunk they've isolated. We might see more work going on on the ears over the next few nights vs more work on the brim.

You know I have never known DHS/MGM without the hat. So, it is a little sad to see it go, from a nostalgic standpoint. That is how a lot of people remember the park, how they identify it from their younger years. But people need to look at it in context. It completely detracts from the theme of the area. It is quite the shame that people today, including my close family, do not comprehend theme parks as an independent art form. They are meant to encapsulate you in a sense of time and place, just as you are sucked into a book or movie for a certain period of time. Alas, I will miss it. It is what I know, and it's how I'll always remember my younger years with my family in the park. But I will be just as happy to see something finally done there.

It is interesting considering the rumor out there is a total re-do of this park. Will the theater take over as the center of the park (again) or will something new happen in this space more in line with the future developments of this park? Maybe the next visible changes in this area will simply be the re-branding of the Great Movie Ride with TCM. I have always been under the assumption that these two events will coincide with each other to some degree.
To make us wait this long having to look at the BAH, and then once it's finally removed tear down or alter the theater...would be like having a juicy steak waiting at the end of a giant maze which a hungry dog must attempt to find. After hours & hours of searching, the hungry dog finally makes it to the end of the tedious maze & can see the juicy steak waiting for him. Once the hungry dog lunges to take a delicious bite...the owner quickly reaches in & snatches away the juicy steak & replaces it with a dirty shoe.

We've served our time. Let us enjoy our steak.
