Is the clock ticking on the Sorcerer Mickey Hat icon at the Studios? YES!

Everyone is boycotting because of the removal of a beloved icon... :cautious:
Let them boycott until March 1st. Shorter lines for me! :)
Yeah, at first glance nothing looks different. I'm sure something had to be done, lol.

I agree, this thread is like a drug. I look forward to checking it every morning for the latest progress on the demo of the hat.
It used to be Facebook and email... Now I bypass that just to check my alerts here!
Same angle we have seen but the lighting is different - looks like there's nothing left inside the hat.

On a serious note, back on topic, looks like that since the weather was not allowing cranes to go up last night, they went back to gutting the inside, and got quite a bit done. there's the "Official update"!
It looks awful. Just awful. Another piece of Magic bites the dust. Sounds like a lot of people are happy - and I'll just keep to myself the famous DeGenX quote that I'd like to say.
OH! A wrestling quote? Do tell!

Of course it is. It's living rent free in the minds of all its detractors. Many years from now old folks will tell the story of the BAH and children will listen with delight. With all the photos that have been taken of the BAH and the in depth discussions on the net, the BAH will live forever. And, of course, various Disney historians will tell widely different stories about it's creation and its demise. It's always interesting to see how churlish people can be when discussing Disney topics that dredge up such emotion.
That's funny.

I don't know who this is or what he/she/it said - and Google is not my friend. I'm guessing you're going to miss the hat?
Wrestling term from the 90's Attitude Era WWF(WWE) by a group named Degeneration X. The group was known for lots of things that made organizations like the Parents Television Council gnash their teeth at the damage being wrought to small children. Lots of crotch chopping and innuendo laced promos.

The quote was "______ it!"
Think something you do to a straw.

So yes, the poster in question was basically saying he likes the hat and all the people who didn't can perform specific acts upon his nether regions.

How exactly will the stories be "widely different" when told? It's pretty cut and dry. 1. The hat was built as a temporary structure for 100 Years of Magic. 2. TDO was too cheap to budget for its removal. 3. Fourteen years later, clearer minds finally prevaled and here we are.

I will literally never be able to understand the attachment some people seem to have to a giant blue plastic-looking traffic cone shoved with no regard for scale or perspective into a space it had no business being. Imagine if they had built this thing at the end of Main Street. It's the exact same thing.

Thank you for that wonderfully PC response to my question. And the big giant laugh it gave me as well. :hilarious:

Look at how long it took for the myths about the hat being built because the rights to the theatre/MGM had expired/Disney couldn't afford them etc. to go away... there will be rumours among the next generation of why the hat they remember from when they were kids disappeared... was it a sponsor pulling the plug, was it about to fall on someone as a safety hazard... did they need the pieces for a new attraction... urban legends spring up over the slightest thing when it comes to theme parks.

Just wait until the truth comes out that the Hat is built out of irradiated baby seal pelts dried, hardened in the sun, and painted with dyes hand-made by the labor of any children who are lost at the parks.

Oh, can some graphics oriented fans out there get started on these now so there will be some google date stamp credibility to the stories? I'm still partial to the Rebel Alliance taking it down, but the hat falling on people makes for a good one too... in video form there could be dust clouds and people running & screaming.

You probably right, for people of a certain age the BAH will be like the Hat Box Ghost or Horizons, or the fountain in the lobby of the Polynesian, something Disney fans remember from their childhoods and obsee over because it's no longer there... how long before there will be BAH ultimate tribute videos on line I wonder?

Good golly - one day without progress and tempers flare. I shudder to think about the depths to which we will fall by Wednesday morning if they don't work through the weekend.

I didn't see any tempers flaring, but this sort of thing is best done quickly... like pulling off a band-aid. Unless you enjoy the process.

I myself have been responsible for producing an entire line of EPCOT pins from my tear ducts. Next time you see a "The Seas with Nemo and Friends" pin, know that I was a major part of their manufacturing process.

Why do you think they introduced MyMagic+? Pin supplies were running low.

I am so looking forward to that tribute video!

There's something almost quite sad to see the hat in such a way.

They should've just blew it up to put it out of its misery.

There is nothing sad about seeing the hat like this. I want it to suffer. I want to see it shamed. A quick death is more than what it deserves. I want it to pay for it's years of injustice by public humiliation & tortur...okay, I just realized I must be in a really dark frame of mind right now. o_O

Moving on.
