Is the clock ticking on the Sorcerer Mickey Hat icon at the Studios? YES!

In all seriousness... Was the Hat built to last how many years it has? If it was temporary when designed, was it engineered to sit there that long? Perhaps there's a number of factors to its demise.
Design spec is 15 years. So yes.

They will want this to move fairly quickly, I assume. The less photos and time this thing is cut in half, the better. I would not be shocked if the larger chunks were moved totally out of the park as they are cut. Also, I'd imagine the next ring will be cut in somewhat smaller pieces. Or squares. To make it be easier to lift, remove and fit. But who even knows.
You assume correctly. More importantly, the less time there's a large construction wall obstructing guest movement and street views, the better.

The fiberglass is being cut. There is no plan to save it.

The website lists 11. Part of those are shows...not rides...so...meh...I'd almost rather they shut the whole shebang down and start work on everything right off...that way it really would be almost like a brand new park.

90 some bucks DOES feel steep for three thrills and a classic...Disney or no...
but that is unamerican! it would stop Mr. Iger and Co from getting good capitalist money! :hilarious:

What I now see are two cranes, one medium sized and one tall one. Also in the picture is actually an extendable heavy duty forklift along side a scissor lift.

right where it says "Press Esc to Exit full screen mode"
you will notice there seems to be another crane on the top (behind everything). The metal bar goes towards the back of the right big crane.

Side note, the hat wasn't a real hat just like the theater isn't the real Chinese theater.

So here is the real Chinese Theatre behind Craig Ferguson, who used to work for CBS but before that was Mr. Wick on the Drew Carey Show on ABC, the network that Disney owns, and he comes from Scotland which is in the UK which is a lot like England in EPCOT, so of course it all must be connected, right? So it's obvious that the newest icon for the Studios must be a giant animatronic Geoff Peterson, because (after all) his arm works which is more than you can say for the Yeti.

And that, my friends, is how logic works on one of these boards.

I applaud you for using Craig Ferguson- the best (ex) late night talk show host :)

Yes sir, I took that into account. You can only see the boom on that one and then there is the smaller Sims one with the white and blue colored boom. Along side slightly in front of it is an all blue boomed fork lift (I can't read it clearly but I think it has the number 844 on it) used to reach for things higher and further away from it and just visible behind that is the green scissor lift.

Yes, there are two cranes on site, as well as a scissor lift and fork truck. It appears they have a man cage (yellow, off the right edge of the photo) that the crane can lift and allow workers to cut, torch and un-bolt.

Last night, the fake letter "S" fell off the box of recovered parts from the BAH...

In addition to the dumpster company using cheap glue to hold their letter's on ( ;) ), does the fact that the metal parts are being dumbed into a scrap metal container confirm that the Hat is not being saved for a move somewhere else, but instead will be melting down??
