This news about the Sorcerer Hat at Disney's Hollywood Studios may be removed in the future is susprising, but not shocking.

I always knew one day that this gaudy yet spectacular icon would be removed, as it has been in the park for 8 years.

The good old days when Roger Rabbit still existed and the characters actually mingled in the park versus hanging under an umbrella.

As an icon it fits in much better with the others in WDW and DL (and those soon to be in DL)

That was constructed between March and April 2001 I believe. Here is a bit of a strange video, but it shows the timelapse of the hat being built.

It appears the entire blue cone of the hat would be fairly easy to demolish Extre Makeover Home Edition style. The harder part would be getting ride of the bottom of the hat.

It is much much smaller than the wand and I think it will be gone within a week of decontruction commencing if done at night. It is an easier project than the wand for many reasons including they don't have a SSE right undeneath it, thankfully :lol:

Its truly amazing to me that Disney let what could've been a very lucrative franchise just die out. Very sad. Hopefully Robert Zemekis will get back on board and give Roger Rabbit a Casino Royale/Batman Begins treatment.

Oh goodness. Like several have mentioned -- I never necessarily hated the Hat itself, but never liked its location, either. Would be sweet if they move/get rid of it, IMO.

Yeah, I liked the look of it, but was kinda bummed that it was blocking GMR.

Prolly a week or so if done right? Maybe more if they have to remove the stars.
