I'm actually curious about all the merchandise that still has the hat on it. Once it's completely gone, will all remaining merchandise be pulled? For example, they have an Alex and Ani bracelet with the hat on it...what about when it's gone?

It'll all be sent to Character Premier in the outlets. It's no different to other limited time merch, like leftover Food & Wine 2014 Duffys or inaugral cruise t-shirts that always end up in the outlets.

I'm willing to bet that the BAH is coming down not because of the likes of us (that don't care for it) but rather that it needed more work than it was worth, perhaps in maintenance - or Disney has something else up their sleeves... Just a hunch.

As for the tombstones @ EC, ugh. The sooner those ridiculous things go away, the better. I say screw the "legacy" and just refund everyone so they can haul 'em out starting tomorrow! Who's with me?!

If I were a betting man I'd say that it is being removed for the same reason that the hand and wand was removed. The sponsor of the attraction behind it wanted it down. That's what got rid of the SSE fiasco and I'm think it is quite possible that TCM had a big hand in getting the hat to go away. If they are going to invest in a Disney attraction, they want it to be seen and recognized as an attraction not just a building behind a hat. We just all like to think that we have influence on the decisions that are made at headquarters. In reality it is money that they listen too.

Yeah I'm pretty sure they may have had some issues with it...I mean look at the Disney Park Rubber bands Especially that purple one on the left bottom...

The hat in animation is a Disney legend. The hat in the street was part of Disney mistakes. There will still be pins available with the Sorcerers Hat on it at least as long as Fantasmic is still in operation. After that, it's up for question.

I stayed in a really nice hotel in Toronto once and the courtyard had a big heated fountain that looked a LOT like what the fountain does now...which, is pretty...but no lucite in sight...

It's not really surprising. It's been there for 14 years and for a lot of people it's the only way they have ever known the park. They have become very attached to it over that time. I have a friend on Facebook who just today was expressing her unhappiness with it being removed, but when I posted a picture of what it used to look like her reaction was , "Yeah, that does look better".
