Is the clock ticking on the Sorcerer Mickey Hat icon at the Studios? YES!

I think it's more likely because of the sponsorship tie-in of Turner Classic Movies and Great Movie Ride. Can't promote the golden age of Hollywood movies with a hat blocking the Chinese Theatre. The Chinese Theatre alone screams old Hollywood.

Not surprising. The theater was, is and always should be THE icon for DHS.

I'd love to see the fountain restored too:
Goodness, yes. I still feel like the entry plaza looks empty without the focal point on the ground, rather than just UP at SSE.
Found this web page about Leave a Legacy:

According to this site the agreement said:

"Agreeing that the image and/or sculpture may be replaced or relocated within Walt Disney World at any time, and that the image may be permanently removed on or after the twentieth anniversary of its installation. "
20?! Dang. 5 more years to go...

..unless they just move the plaques and tear down the tombstones.

It was 20 years from when it was purchased so they could start disappearing on October 1st 2019. Also when they were purchased you agreed that they could be moved anywhere on WDW property. I don't see them moving them though.

They could move the picture panels to the walkway on the right of the entrance plaza, near where Pluto does meet n greet. Then they would be free to remove the rockwork. Those that love the Legacy could still see them "near" their current location. They could even put a positive spin on it. Like "Hey, we moved them to protect them from the weather" as they would be in a covered walkway.

Then that would leave the rest of us to enjoy a much improved entrance plaza.

Anywhere? Meaning they could theoretically chuck them in a dumpster behind Soarin and just not have it hauled away for 5 years. They could pile them in the old image works. Perhaps they could retile the Epcot bathroom floors with the tiles. Save some money on the next bathroom refurb.

I'm willing to bet that the BAH is coming down not because of the likes of us (that don't care for it) but rather that it needed more work than it was worth, perhaps in maintenance - or Disney has something else up their sleeves... Just a hunch.

That was my thought. Maybe it was time to refurbish the hat and they thought: Refurbish or dismantle?

I'd like to think that some higher up said, "Come on, guys.. That really doesn't belong there. Fix it!" I tend to think that's not what happened, though.

As for the tombstones @ EC, ugh. The sooner those ridiculous things go away, the better. I say screw the "legacy" and just refund everyone so they can haul 'em out starting tomorrow! Who's with me?! :D

The one thing that they did do right at the time was the bricks outside of the Magic Kingdom. In the 1990s you could buy a brick and they made a nice pathway area out of them. It looks good.

I always think of those bricks and tombstones and think, perhaps morbidly:
- how many of those people are now dead
- how many of those family are now dissolved due to divorce

If you really think about it there has to be quite a few dead people and a good number of broken families (statistically over 50%) on those tombstones.

As mean and potentially insulting as it sounds, society has managed to convince itself that all opinions are valid, equal, and deserving of thought and consideration. This contradicts the idea of education, experience, and credentials providing weight and validity to certain opinions.

Which is why nobody should listen to me when I say that 80's rock should be the only music played on the radio.
any opinion is valid.
deciding which opinion is educated, useful and not stupid/rude/incorrect.. is a whole different thing ;)
