Is the clock ticking on the Sorcerer Mickey Hat icon at the Studios? YES!

Sure hope that you're right about the GMR, Dave..

Well I have the things I've heard. Lee has the things he's heard. Martin's had the things he's heard. Usually they all gibe together. But in this instance? We're hearing different things… And I'm sure as hell not putting out exactly what I'm hearing because I don't want to traced back. (It's so much easier when I can say it was an email from Tom Staggs) .

I honestly find The companies previous tenure history to be comforting in this thought. This company does not spend money they don't have to. That's their m.o. If they can get away with not spending the money on changing a façade, they will not do it. If they can get away with not changing any show scenes? They won't. For this company, it comes down to the almighty dollar.

Personally? I think some of the show scenes need updating. Some of the movies need swapping out. It needs to regain some of its relevance. But to actually see that happening anytime soon? No.

The biggest thing it has going for it is that it handles an insane number of people per hour. Capacity has been reduced by removing back lot tour. Assuming they remove LMA, we are really losing a lot of capacity. And if for what ever silly reason they decide to close epic? That is a lot of guest capacity removed all at once.

One Thing I can publicly say is that I have been told by a couple of different people that it is safe. And then they elaborated a little bit that I am not comfortable going into publicly.

That being said… Five years from now? When the studios makeover is finished? Then we might be having a different discussion. For the right here and the right now? It's fine for the for seeable future. From what I've been told.

Aliens 2...nice! One of my favorite lines from that movie.

And thanks....I'd hate to lose that great facade , now that we'll be able to see it properly again. Change out movies, add more to the end reel, but please leave it there!

Like I said… A bunch of us are hearing different things. But I'm willing to bet on what I'm hearing mostly because Disney is always going to take the cheapest and easiest way out… Cynical, I know…

That would require changing multiple facades. Thats more money then the mouse would likely want to spend.

Lemmie put it another way - I only see it happening if someone else foots the bill.

Interesting observation, but I don't think they would hire a steel contractor to just clear out the shop. I also don't see why the would split it into two permits if the same contractor was going to be doing all the work.

They MIGHT hire a steel contractor if they are going to demo the shop and create a support so the BAH can be moved - probably not in one piece since it's irregularly shaped at the base and the store hides the supports if it's to be moved they would need to create a support structure to replace the support columns.

dont kow about the timetable, but if they wanted it gone NOW, i would say a pair of excavators with shearing jaws could make short work of it overnight

I'm really thrilled that the hat is finally going, but I never did manage to take a picture of myself with it sitting atop my head. Guess I ran out of time!! :(

Thanks, I cannot imagine how I never noticed that before. I appreciate the picture, now I know what we are talking about at least. If I had to guess, however, I would say that they were taken down for reason not related to the BAH. If that is the case, I doubt that they will ever be back. To me, they don't really contribute to the ambiance at all.

Really? I think the spires are an integral part of Grauman's Chinese. It "ups" the overall "grandness" of the structure. Even the current TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood kept their spires

Maybe they could just close the park completely for one year... Blitz the park...make all the changes and in a year reopen, re-branded and complete... Construction projects wuold not have to work around guests...Guests wold not have to go through a park full of construction walls and shuttered attractions... Unfortunately until Avatar opens I don't think this would be possible... they need a little more capacity in the other parks...
