Is the clock ticking on the Leave a Legacy monoliths at Epcot?

i assure you an internet forum is the last place i would seek attention. i like the tangible kind. you went on a romp because you have personal connections to a wall inside a theme park because i stated that they dont belong there. you took my opinion as some crusade against you and your loved ones when in reality there was no such thing.
Not seeking attention? Um, this thread sat dormant for six months until you ripped off the bandage.

I realize you are just responding to someone who quoted you but why just now?

Better yet, just leave them where they are. People aren't running into them. As for whether they are an eyesore or not that is a simple matter of opinion, I don't like the way China looks at EPCOT but that doesn't mean it should be removed. You walk past them and move on. Unlike the Sorcerers Hat these things aren't taking away from the park as a whole anymore than the entry gates take away from it. Complaining about them makes as much sense as complaining about the color of paint they used on a bathroom door.
I mean that's great about china , but china can't move since its built into that area and has been there since opening. Those monuments are newer and can be carted away into another area in which you can still enjoy them and everyone who has their pictures on it can enjoy them. I have my picture on it. I think if they moved them some where else it be best for everyone since ther wouldn't be any parties that think negatively about the pictures and they could stay there for decades. If they stay where they are there will be a movement to demolish them when the time comes just like the hat and then it will be gone for good

Interesting. With all of the rumors flying around, I'm finding it quite difficult to understand and pinpoint the overall vision for the future for the entire resort...

That is, if there is one.
That may be the announcement.

"Good morning guests. We are here today for an exciting announcement! We have decided to move in a new direction for Epcot. We just don't know which direction. Any ideas?"

I tend to think the naysayers will eventually stop yapping about them much like the people that originally said the Eiffel Tower was ugly... I expect they will grow on people overtime as much as the ugly golf ball.

The hat would have likely also been something that would have eventually grown on people but unfortunately it didn't have a legal foothold to keep it there long enough for it to become entrenched in peoples minds. Shoot... Now that you've got me thinking about it I think people that like them should start pushing to have them put on the national registry off historic places... Manage to get it on there and they would stay forever whether Disney liked it or not.

wasn't the hat there over a decade ? If that's not enough time to grow on people I doubt 20 years is enough esp if we are already a decade into the contract.

Well I think it officially ended in 2007 so the 20 year runs until 2027.... Given it started in 1999 your typical adult that would have remembered EPCOT pre-legacy blocks will be 28 years older than when they saw it naked... Odds are they will be in their 50's or 60's in 2027 and unlikely to be pushing for any changes in EPCOT then other than hoping for a senior discount. It will have been around for about 30 years when it reaches its contract date.... That's along time and enough time that I still think it will be as ingrained in people as the golf ball.

Disney needs to decide what their vision is for Epcot first and then start making changes. Sometimes i feel like there really is no masterplan or grand vision for Epcot and it just gets small additions here and there without anyone asking "where are we going?"
