Is Stitch's Great Escape REALLY that bad?

TubaGeek

God bless the "Ignore" button.
It's not as bad as Speedway, at least.
Honestly, the bad rap it gets is because:
A) It replaced something AMAZING,
B) It's not well maintained, so effects (which are the whole show) are constantly missing, and the harness system can be painful,
C) It's too scary for its target audience, most of who can't watch because of the height restriction.

The only thing I dislike about the ride is the chilli dog smell part. Just something about that smell that really does not agree with me. So I just hold my breath and wave the smell away during that part. Even with that aside its not a ride on our must do list. Its usually one we hit to take a break from the heat or duck into while the daily 30 min rain shower is going on.

I've never been on it, but from the threads it seems that NO-ONE likes it! :joyfull:
Can anyone enlighten me as to why it's so awful?

As a side note, I do remember going on Alien Encounter as a child and coming out completely traumatised, though! :hilarious:

It isn't awful... it is made for kids and small kids actually like it the first time... The problem is most people remember the Alien Encounter and if you had experienced the terror of it and then came back to find this in its place it would be a complete let down because the fear was replaced with silliness.

It's not really that bad, certainly if you never experienced it's predecessor.
Neither is it for everyone, neither was it's predecessor.

If you saw Alien Encounter, you will view Stitch as terrible, because they took a decent attraction and made it worse in every imaginable way.

A bit similar to what may happen with Maelstrom/Frozen ride....this time they're going from a much lower starting point.

I went to this over spring break and It was ok. I'm a huge Lilo & Stitch fan so I had to see it. I wish they would redo the entire attraction to something better to portray Stitch better.

Alien Encounter was awful, and Stitch is worse than that. I think that, much like with Journey Into Your Imagination, they have a hard time getting anything worthwhile in that location.

I think it is pretty bad, considering replacing it was basically a moot point -- it's still too scary for young children, it still has a height requirement etc. They may as well have just left Alien Encounter alone.

I think it is either the most or one of the most complained about attractions in WDW yet it remains intact. I don't get it.

Except the original Imagination ride was actually really good.

Personally we skip it without kids. We've been in it a few times though, and it's not awful. Just a ride worth skipping if you have to be choose between rides.

Compared to what was there originally (Mission to the Moon followed by Mission to Mars) it is now the highest of high tech. It isn't easy to fit something in a circular show room that is not only interesting, but, visible from every angle. Based on that, they have done a pretty good job with both. Alien Encounter was a little to intense for kids, though I have heard about adults have been scared by it as well. (A concept that escapes me, however, whatever) and Stitch which is much less intensive (and the basic body humor, belching and spitting) is more designed to make the younger audience laugh and relax. I don't expect "grown ups" to get all excited about it, but, I do think that for what it is worth, it's done pretty well. I have also heard that adults think that the race cars in Tomorrowland Speedway are to slow as well, isn't that surprising?

I love it when you chime in.... It's exactly what was missing...

Had our first trip to Disney a few weeks ago and I have to say that this was the worst ride of the entire trip. I was confused from the moment I entered and then when the harness came down and the room got dark I thought Okay, this is gonna get better, I am on a "ride" and then nothing. The harness was really uncomfortable too and I just don't get the point of it? The whole thing just seemed old & tired. It was truly the only attraction I wish I had skipped.

While not as good as the original IMO, it is certainly not bad. The problem most have is that Disney went and changed a more original attraction and Disneyfied it by putting one of their characters in it.

Guess you did not climb the Swiss Family Treehouse and really enjoyed the corny jokes and oohing and aahing at the animatronic hippos and huge plastic butterflies.
