Is Pop Warner that crazy?

We are going to WDW Dec4-9, 2 adults 2 kids 6-4. We are staying at AS MOV. I have read threads about Pop Warner and it sounds like a mad house. We've been to WDW at least 20 times, so we are not rushed to see everything. Is there anything I should know or do about Pop Warner

Typically, the parks are not that affected by them, at least when we have gone during that time. However, rooms are greatly affected by it and values are in scarce supply.

We've only experienced the Pop Warner crowd once, but it was enough for us to schedule around their trip. We will not be going back to WDW when they are there.

All that aside, enjoy your trip and post lots of photos when you get back.

When a whole team gets kicked out because a few of the kids didn't follow the rules and into a fight. Then some of the parents complained because they were kicked out, and all Disney said was the contract was broken, and they were within their rights to do so.

I was down in '01 during Pop Warner and I have to say that it wasn't bad at all. We stayed at All Star Sports which was where a lot of the Pop Warner teams were staying and didn't have any noise problems. The crowds in the parks were also fairly light. I'd say just don't worry about it too much and enjoy your trip.

Unfortunately, everything we wanted was booked by the time the fall promo came out, and only had a choice between AS Sports and AS Music. We are at ASMusic, and check out the day after Pop Warner starts. Hopefully, it will be quiet until the 7th.

The only thing I would be concerned about is where you are staying. The AS resorts house 99% of the Pop Warner kids so you may want to consider Pop Century or even bumping up to a moderate resort. The parks shouldn't be too bad but the random out bursts of cheering that happen sometimes gets really annoying.

Since you are only overlapping with the competitions for 2 days you should be ok though.

Thanks Tiggerific. We tried to get a moderate (any) or Pop, but all were showing no availability with the promo code. I'm going to keep checking, up to the 45 day mark, and I'm willing to pay for the the other family's upgrade (newly divorced, first timers). I don't think they care where we stay, they're just excited to be going -- but I know if they cheer through the night, it will drive me bonkers. :brick:

Pop Warner

My DW and I have stayed at Pop Century or Vacation Club every year since 2000 for her birthday while Pop Warner football is underway. If you can, ask for a room away from the main pool. The kids tend to hang out around the pool well past midnight and can get loud. You will notice a rush for breakfast when they are all getting ready to head to the Wide Word of Sports. You will only noitice the groups at the parks after the sporting events. Lots of "cheering", which is fun to watch, but otherwise nice slow time at the parks. Have lots of fun, and enjoy the "show".:sohappy:

Thanks for the help. I'm not worried about the parks as much the hotel being too packed or too loud late night. Would DW upgrade "for a fee" us to another hotel if it got too crazy? Or would it be too much of a pain in the but to move? one more thing, can you bring "refill muggs" to the parks?

You can count on the resort being noisy.

They possibly will allow you to move if there is an opening somewhere else.

The move is only as difficult as moving your belongings.

You can take your mug to the parks, but don't expect to use it for refills. It will only be something else for you to keep up with though.

One time we stayed at AS Sports during Pop Warner and Disney moved us and several other guests our 2nd night to Carribean Beach for free. The area of the resort we were in was particularly rowdy and a bunch of us from one building kept calling the front desk to complain. They didn't have any other rooms for us at the resort so we got moved.

I wouldn't count on that being a regular occurrence though. If you are that worried about the hotel and have some extra money to spend, upgrade yourself now. It will save you the hassle and wasted time of possibly needed to move resorts half way through your trip.

I'm checking into ASMusic on the 5th, leaving on the 7th.

I am going to MVMCPand The Candlelight Processional that weekend and was hoping for a relaxing, fun beginning to the holidays.:xmas:

The Pop Warner calendar says the events start on the 7th. I wonder when all the families will arrive?

I really hope the friday night Christmas party isn't overrun by rabid cheerleaders and ball players!

Just an FYI, some teams do stay at PO Riverside as well. A few years ago, I booked there thinking I would avoid them. Wrong! I was VERY disappointed by the late night noise (at 2 am) created by the teams. I avoid that time due to my own personal experience. You may have a different experience. Have a good time and make the best of it. Take earplugs just in case :)
