Rumor Is Indiana Jones Planning an Adventure to Disney's Animal Kingdom?

Guys, say what you want. But overall Indy fits the design aesthetic of Animal Kingdom. It wouldn't stick out there like it would at whatever Hollywood Studios will become. And if this project is a rush job to be open in time for the new film, it's the only option to bring Indy to Florida. Disney doesn't build big rides that quickly. Dinosaur would be an easy re-theme, most of the work would be on the facade and queue and tearing down a couple walls. The ride interior is all scenic design and those props can be built off-site and moved in very quickly. Plus who says the scenes would be identical to California's or Tokyo's? There's this great projection technology that was used in Shanghai that could replace or enhance scenes. The possibilities are endless.

Now, do I think it's a great idea? No. I'd miss Dinoland USA. But overall, it's not that bad for the park. Zootopia would be an awful horrendous fit for Animal Kingdom's design aesthetic, and overall theme as well. At least Indy keeps the feel of the park in tact. We're not in the days of more one-time-use only attractions, we are in the days of the franchise. Might as well call them Movie Franchise Parks instead of Theme Parks now (and I hate admitting that, but it seems to be true).

Put yourself in Bob Chapek's shoes. Your boss wants an Indy ride on the East Coast. What are you gonna do to have it open in time for the new movie? It makes sense.

Well said (not saying I agree with how they make their decisions but we keep fighting against things that are not in our control)

So many pages of hand-wringing and bickering and worry.

I'd rather Indy than Zootopia (I'd PREFER to keep Dinosaur but it is what it is)

It's amazing to me how before Pandora opened, Animal Kingdom was a park where I used to be like in all my trips to WDW, "should we go there in the morning to ride Everest and Dinosaur real quick before going to (insert other park here)." Now with FoP there and if a whole Indy land is added, which includes my favorite ride from Disneyland, I will be there literally every day of my trips to WDW.

Whether Indy fits or not is opinion, I think. I agree with the original poster that the overall look and feel of Indy fits very well in Animal Kingdoms looks. I would welcome this happily.

And this is based on opinion too, obviously, but I can NOT believe some people prefer Dinosaur over Indy Adventure lol. Just baffles me. They are worlds apart! IMO of course haha:)

I just wanted to make something clear. We are discussing a RUMOR about a THEME PARK ATTRACTION. It is NOT politics and ideology, we are not discussing global warming or what ever heats up discussions nowadays to boiling heat (and hate).
We ALL share a beautiful passion, WALT DISNEY WORLD, the greatest place on earth if you are looking for an escape from an increasingly depressing and darkening reality in the real world. I don't want the hate, violence and increasing oppression from the outer world to enter my WDW sanctuary and the same goes with this incredible website and it's forums.
We all love WDW, why can't we discuss these harmless, innocent and cheerful topics without getting rude and aggressive?
Without insulting other commentators, because they have a different opinion?
Of course, everyone who even remotely prefers Dinosaur to IJA or finds anything positive in the Dinorama ist an out-of-his-mind, crazy and immature lunatic, but you don't have to tell them.:D

And I fully expect Star Tours to close once Galaxy's Edge opens.
I hope not, I love the new star tours, I get that where it is won't fit with galaxy edge but it could just be a ride outside of the area. I KNOW star wars land will have all the star wars stuff we can handle, but star tours has been great, and they could just keep adding scenes. But I am all for change if something better takes it's place

Lots of people riding their high horses on this thread. Disney could drop a bomb on dino-land and it would be an improvement. I'd only miss the play area for my kid to climb in. Otherwise, it's one of the worst executed "value-centric" lands in any Disney park. It sticks out like a sore thumb, feeling like a carnival (a bad one at that) has been dropped into the middle of one of the most pristine nature preserves in the world. I see the "need" for kid related rides and attractions, but they really dropped the ball on it. Good riddance if it goes.

It's gotten so much better over the years, but I'm sure they could use the new tech on the ride to be the foundation for another action/space/scifi/tomorrowland'ish story. here's hoping!

That's the problem right there. This is a THEME issue, not a design aesthetic issue. Animal Kingdom's theme is the intrinsic value of nature. One of Animal Kingdom's strengths and flaws is that it is something of an auteur park and reflects the interests of its creators. Joe and the team that built DAK have a particular affinity for Africa and Southest Asia. DAK can and should be more than the "jungle park" it is now. A design aesthetic isn't a good enough excuse to shove Indy into the park whereas MK's Adventureland is the correct thematic home for Doctor Jones.

But seriously guys, if you want to armchair imagineers the parks, don't you want them to build something like this?

It doesn't fit and that's fact based on animal kingdoms mission statement.

Oh yes and talking bout armchair imagineering, if they would want to combine dinosaurs with Indiana Jones and the existing EMV ride technology how about a mixture of JttCotE, IJA and Dinosaur with a little spoonful of Atlantis. It begins similar to the TDS ride but with an IJ theming, you go down through the underworld caverns, the dinosaurs enter at the Underworld Ocean scene of JttCotE and after you passed the dinosaurs you find Atlantis and while you drive through the ruins you encounter the Lava monster, the volcano erupts and you go back to the surface.

If you read what i wrote, I said the look and feel of Indy fits.. the story element maybe doesn't. I was just agreeing with the original poster that the look/theming of Indy Adventure fits Animal Kingdoms look/theming. I'm sorry, but if you don't walk around Animal Kingdom and feel like you're walking through an Indy movie then I don't know...

Errr...actually NO. He is not exactly preserving things, he is "organizing" them and he is payed for.

I disagree. I can see them finding a way to make it fit. Do I agree? Not entirely. But they've shown me they don't care, look at the convoluted backstory they're probably coming up with to force Guardians into Epcot. Again, not saying I agree but they've shown me they don't care.

I don't even expect some backstory for the GotG in EPCOT (actually a franchise I didn't even know about and I don't care for at all). They will just say "hey we finally have another thrill ride in EPCOT so why do you ask about a story, who cares, who needs it, enjoy and STFU."

Sad but true.

I like the Guardians movies but I don't think it belongs in Epcot. I know I should apply that same sentiment to Indy, I think it belongs in DHS or Adventureland but I see why the could choose to put it in AK. To be fair it could be worse lol.

Theme and setting are not the same thing.

Ok... I don't understand what you're trying to tell me?

When you are in Animal Kingdom, the look and theming looks exaclty like the look and theming around Indy Adventure in Disneyland. That's literally all I'm saying. I'm not saying an Indy Adventures story or the movies fits in with Animal Kingdoms park story. Just the theming of the ride and Animal Kindgom park remind me of eachother.
