Perlmutter dumps stock
"Perlmutter said in an interview that he sold because he doesn't have confidence in Disney's current management and expects the company's share price and financial performance to decline further. If Disney's shares decline to $65 to $75 per share, he plans to buy much of his old stake back."
He is not the only one not to have confidence in Disney management

In the World of Wall Street, close only counts in horse shoes, hand grenades, atom bombs, and urinals.

The fact is DIS has missed their earnings guidance four out of four quarters and the continued decline shows that. If the expectation of DIS streaming potential is so great, why is there the continued decline? If the powers that know have true understanding of the revolutionary potential of another streaming service, the decline would not be on the continued downturn.
Before this last report Comcast had hit their last 4 and yet were mostly down that whole time. Beating estimates is just part of the story.

Anything with the stock this week is all about Comcasts terrible report as all the theme park operators took a hit. Cedar doesn't share any of the other segments Disney and Comcast are in yet has been dropping since the troubles at Universal came out.

My point is that that there are a ton of reasons why stocks move the way they do and you can never just look at one thing. Also, for us fans, stocks are mostly irrelevant to what we want from these companies.

If Disney's shares decline to $65 to $75 per share, THAT would be a great time to get in!!

I am not sure if he has confidence as much as he is just playing the market.

Perlmutter is a moron.

There are plenty of reasons to question decisions from management, dumping him was not and is not one of them. About the only thing he has done since they took the MCU away many, many years ago is complain, whine and try and get any type of revenge he can. Well, that and say racist things.

That’s not what he’s saying

You are grinding Bob Iger’s axe…a stance that makes you look rather mislead on 7/25/24

Hardly.

He was a terrible CEO of marvel and only blind luck saved that company. Nothing that man says should be treated as anything but BS.

That he was kept on as long as he was is an indictment of Iger in my mind.

We know there’s old beef there…

But you can’t say Peltz is whining about getting the boot this time

The reality is he’s RIGHT. Disney management is failing and they are bleeding cash.

The reality is Bob has been embarrassed again…which is starting to stack up and costs alot of money

Here and now as it stands

Set aside the Bob hate for just a moment.

Perlmutter was a bad businessman who made many terrible decisions. He could be 100% right about management but it would be for the wrong reasons and frankly just dumb luck that his personal vendetta happens to align with reality for once.

We have TONS of examples of poor choices made by management. Removing a racist malcontent who was awful at his job was not one of them. He is not and should not be a trusted source of anything.

This also feeds back into my larger point that people keep trying to use the stock price as some measure of the world agreeing with us fans. It isn't. People are deluding themselves and living in a fantasy that the market even remotely cares about the same things we do.

Iger needs to go for doing exactly the things the market REWARDED him for instead of pushing back to protect the customer long term.

It’s not “bob hate”…it’s the reality on the ground.

I don’t know if you’re a Bob lover…so benefit of a doubt…

But what we saw for over 10 years was this bizarre Bob cult…he’s not high talent…and now the profit prophet has fallen.

He got credit for some good moves…mostly buying content…but the runway ran out on that as well.

In "useless tangential evidence world" -

It felt crowded yesterday and I can no longer get Guardians VQ after work like last year, so it seems to be crowding back up (much to my dismay).
Tinfoil hat securely on my head -

It makes you wonder the forecasts (hah, forecasts from Iger) about lower attendance, was it put out there for the public to say, "Hey Iger said attendance is down so we should go RIGHT NOW while its less crowded"

Its either that or all the broken attractions and the totally broken Lighting Lane system making it feel crowded. ;)

All I know is the longer Guardians is on VQ is the closer I get to lapsing my AP.

I can go to SeaWorld whenever I want and ride Mako multiple times with no wait. I can't even ride the rides I want to at Disney without being shook down for money. I'll try this new Fastpass system and then most likely switch to Universal if things don't change. It's clear regardless of attendance level, locals are not cared about.

Removing non-attraction things to do tends to make the walkways more full, as does the randomness of reserving ride times instead of focusing your time on a specific land, for MK purposes, and instead zig-zagging across the park (trust me, we did plenty of this in the paper FP days as well and it irritated us then, too), which was never the intent.
