Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

Yes, I’m serious.

I’ve seen people argue those things too, but then also have seen them criticize other aspects of Disney.

You listing one-off topics is not a rebuttal to the point.
If your point is there is no blind obedience on forums to Disney…I’m sorry that there is no point to be made

Here’s an example of the price part of the problem:

Today I expanded our December trip flights and booked vacation packages with both WDW and Universal.

WDW:
- 5 nights at All-Star Sports
- 4 x 4-day park tickets with “free”parkhopper
- $3400 USD

Universal:
- 6 nights at Cabana Bay (superior hotel)
- 4 x 5-day park-to-park tickets
- $2200 USD

That's crazy. When you factor in exchange if you're from Canada it's too much. For my wife and I it's hard to justify when you compare to our other October vacation to Myrtle Beach.

Flight and hotel for the week is $1000 Canadian. I can't say Disney or Universal are worth 3-4 times more.

It’ll only be our second trip with our kids. I can tell you they (and I) are 5-6 times more excited for this than we would be for Myrtle Beach.

No disrespect to Myrtle Beach or your vacation tastes! I’m sure it’s great.

But I sure would love a little more value from WDW.

Pretty sure they have had four close misses on revenue and beat on the last four EPS.

Having said that, segment sentiment, rotation and future guidance would all be bigger factors to market reaction after the initial numbers are released in my mind. Unless you are strictly looking at revenue to measure something specific, it isn't all that useful in a vacuum.
Not great in the backdrop of consumers spending buckets of cash like sailors

In the World of Wall Street, close only counts in horse shoes, hand grenades, atom bombs, and urinals.

The fact is DIS has missed their earnings guidance four out of four quarters and the continued decline shows that. If the expectation of DIS streaming potential is so great, why is there the continued decline? If the powers that know have true understanding of the revolutionary potential of another streaming service, the decline would not be on the continued downturn.

…I’m gonna have to check on that urinal one and get back to you…

None taken. I would love to go back to Disney too but not at the price point they are right now.

Especially when we have just as much fun going for a long weekend at Cedar Point for a quarter of the price.

I mean, the other side of that is more people would require more labor and maintenance. Not only is it diminishing returns, but it's a slightly more crowded experience for each additional person in the parks. I'm sure they've modeled it.

Relatedly, one reason why the Four Seasons Orlando is > $1,200/night is that they're not chasing 80% occupancy. They're satisfied at a much higher price point, with much lower occupancy, and loyal guests who like the relaxed vibe. I have a friend who's a 4S member, and occasionally I tag along on a lounge-around-the-pool day. It's glorious.

I don't recall what Disney was offering during the 2009 downturn. I'm sure there were hotel discounts. Ticket discounts though?

From what I recall, I was really impressed at how Disney was able to pull International folks in. The dollar was down which made the park much cheaper for Europeans.

I do not recall which year it was, but the only 'ticket deal' (outside of the FL res stuff) was that they gave a free ticket for one day in exchange for volunteer hours from any 5031C charity.
