Ancidotal I know but this week:
-I’ve waited 45 min for FOP at 1pm
-15 min for TSMM at 3:00pm
-Did the two Avatar rides + Safari at EE opening and finished with enough time to hit the 10am FotLK which was half full
-Reride on BTMRR
-SDMT, PPF, BTMRRx3, Pirates, JC, HM in 2 hours at opening
-Frozen, TT, Soarin and Rat in 90 min
Bob must be pleased his plan is working....
Now did you fulfill the vision and spend more? That is part of the plan.....

Glad it was good for you, last week was weird with wait times but the table service seatings were plentiful.

I recently received my first WDW survey in quite some time over here in the UK. Found the questions - and some of the available answers - interesting.

I was quite surprised to see ‘Walt Disney World isn’t worth the cost’ on a survey sent by Disney. Could they be starting to get the message?

Once you ticked the No I think it funneled you to a loss recovery portion which meant you were gone and the answer was more important than the diminution of perception of value so they felt it was OK at that point, I wonder what you would have seen if you tick Yes?

Agreed, but I’ve given negative answers on previous Disney surveys and I’ve always felt that the answers they let me select from are more positive than this. I’ve always had to use the ‘other’ option to give my opinion on value for money / decline in quality etc.

The link to the survey still works so I can show you the Yes outcome:

If I said that I didn’t go to Orlando I also get some interesting answer selections depending on if I said I’d considered it or not:

I did consider Orlando:

(Selecting ‘I didn’t plan to go to Walt Disney World’ in that final section takes me back to the section where I can select that it isn’t worth the cost).

I’ve been regularly visiting Orlando from the UK for around 20 years now and I’ve never received a survey like this from WDW. They must have seen a significant decline in UK bookings, and my feeling is that the question they’re trying to ask is if it that is their fault.

Which it is, at least to some extent - we’ve been to Orlando three times this year and we’ve only set foot on Disney property twice, both times to eat at The Bouthouse. Prior to 2020 we would normally spend 5-10 nights at a Deluxe resort every time we were in Orlando, hit all the parks, eat on site for every meal etc. Now we stay at Universal for the whole trip instead of splitting our time between the two resorts.

Disney would be very smart in summer of 2025 through summer of 2026 to offer something like 2-3 night stay packages that are heavily discounted. Include hotel/tickets/G+ but can not exceed 2-3 nights.

No idea what "heavily discounted" means, but something more aggressive than the kids half off deal next year.
Something like free dining would definitely make me consider a more even split between Disney and Universal, that or a significant discount on the monorail deluxe resorts. But both seem unlikely. I'm just not a big fan of Disney's values or moderates.

Regardless, there seems to be a debate about the level of decline in attendance right now. But there is no doubt in my mind that things will be a bit different once the new park opens (if its a good park of course).

Hey Disney! I'll have some money to burn in 2025. Give me some incentives to spend it there!

That survey seems very similar to one I got. It had the same list of other attractions/parks (we’d done Gatorland). But the “isn’t worth the cost” seems… interesting. Especially when “cost of tickets is too high for my budget” is also an option. It’s getting at perception and value, which, in my opinion, is the right track.

Yeah, "isn't worth the cost" reads to me like "I can afford it but don't think it is worth it" while "too high for my budget" feels like "I think the cost is appropriate for what is provided but I just can't afford it"

I know it’s not entirely fair, as it’s raining and will all day, but DHS today 8:00-2:00:
-Rise x2
-Falcon (SRL)
-Aliens
-Slinky
-TSMM x2
-Mickey
-Star Tours
-RnRC x2
-ToT x4

15 rides, 6 hours longest wait 20 min.

But locals aren’t important to Disney right? Not with all the vacationers who are here and paid so would still come right?

Why? The whole point of such surveys is get accurate information, including, and especially, negative feedback. They’re not just empty PR exercises.

Oh man, is he trolling or telegraphing a fact finding visit to the Kingdom and what he is identifying as the impediments to making Disney magical again? Maybe the spec is true that he has been approached about a position that is coming open......

As an aside, I was surprised to see an email with updated park hours for AK during my trip (Jan 18-25) from another site. Park opening has been moved back to 8a instead of 9 with closing remaining at 6p. I know the initially-posted hours are boilerplate, but wasn't expecting a change for AK at this point, as the other parks' hours had already been updated. While I'm anticipating low(-ish) crowds during our trip, the expanding of the least popular park's hours is interesting to me.

I also have been monitoring hotel availability with the VISA discount and am seeing more inventory pop up recently that wasn't there just a few weeks ago (and for a month or so prior to that). Doesn't necessarily indicate anything about park attendance, but I found it interesting.

Expanding of park hours could be on increased last minute reservations. Our firm’s performance bonus payout is at the end of the year and with some being rewarded handsomely , it’s splurging on future vacations including going to FL.
