Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

I've never understood the value in the top tier Disney Hotels. How long are you actually spending in the Hotel/Room itself?

When we are in Orlando for 2 week holidays we wake up at 6am...do the 7am reservation shuffle and out the room.....we don't often get back till 11pm!!....so basically we are paying for a bed!!....and a $200 Art Of Animation bed ain't much different to $800 Grand Floridian bed.

For us there's just no value in paying for top Disney hotels. We only stay on property to get the (very few) benefits...hence why we stay at either AoA, Pop or one of the other off site affiliate hotels...as paying any more for us is just wasted money. But I understand everyone's situations are different.
Most of the appeal is for the people that are frequenters and don’t pound rides all day…wdw was not for that anyway…

You know what? They should start a timeshare for that type? Maybe slap em on the sides of the expensive places to guarantee full occupancy and reduce the cost to run them?

…it could work 🤔

Is that worth $600 extra a night? I can be at the parks in a nice cool air-condition car in 5 to 15 Minutes depending on the park.

Sometimes. Most times. Walking in an out of Epcot and DHS is the best especially with hoppers. Pop in for lunch, pop in another for a ride, back to another for dinner. The possibilities are endless. :D

(although we've never paid an extra $600 a night - maybe an extra $300 though).

When we stayed at Art last year we did find the Skyliner very convenient and a big perk to staying there.

Agreed. I have stayed at every resort level from Values to Deluxes and the experience can be very different, depending on what your party wants to do. For park commandos, it may not be worth it. For people who want to relax a bit more and smell the roses, enjoy the pools, the grounds of the resorts and the services that are available, it might be very different. For those who havent, if circumstances allow, try a more relaxed vacation at one of the higher end resorts and see what you think. Even if it is only for one day, you might be surprised! Marie

I like the Skyliner - but I'm sort of a chicken. Not of falling or anything, but getting stuck for a while after I've had a ton of water. 😂 So we just ride it for fun early in the day between Epcot and Riviera.

I’m an ambiance person - my physical surroundings impact my mood a fair bit. I love to wander and just soak in beautiful surroundings. That said, I don’t think that the more you pay, the better the ambiance at Disney. I thought the Contemporary was pretty “standard” in terms of surroundings - next time hoping to stay at POFQ or AK, both of which look amazing in terms of atmosphere.

I love Contemporary if just for the fact when I was a child back in early 80s, it really did seem so futuristic! You just could not top a monorail going through the building! :D
But that pool area is awful. If they could somehow fix that up I think it would go a long a way to improving the ambience.

I also have no desire to spend 14 hours at a Disney park. Anything outside of MK is taking that long, then it's just sitting in hour plus lines all day. And even MK, that is going to be a lot of lines and not a ton of rides. So having a decent hotel to spend part of the day at (or sometimes the whole day at) is important to us.

Latest data shows attendance way down from 2019 levels for the same time period around 4th of July.

Not looking good for the rest of this year for the Mouse. But I'm going mid-november and would love to see some lighter crowds.
Lighter crowds is not good for Disney. Do not be surprised that some offerings are not offered or tweaked due to slower business levels.

You will get your wish for sure this November.

2019 was the absolute high in attendance right? Before the really good APs we’re gone, before G+, before PPRs, before Disney formally took actions to limit attendance. Really a different world.

Each to their own I suppose.
The adoptive parents that raised me for a large portion of my life were extremely frugal. If you went to the bathroom you couldn’t flush until someone else went “two on a flush”. Every second of every day was about saving money.

Now I focus 100% of my time on making more money and absolutely none trying to save it.

I understand everyone’s situation is different but I could care less how much anything costs. Disney for me is about the experience that unfortunately is deteriorating.
