Is attendance really down at WDW this or…

Because her music is extremely commercially successful, it is also very good (this is obviously subjective, but I like her music and so do most people I have talked to as well as critics). In genre, her music can be best described as at the center of a three way venn diagram between levitating bedroom balladry, unkempt psychadelic grunge, and uptempo pop-rock, although perhaps more instrumental to her musics success than the production is the lyrics and themes. She sings with honesty, specificity, and humor, conveying the abstract pangs of angst and heartbreak as a vivid image of the rebellion and sadness of youth.
Translates to a bigger payday for Taylor Swift than Iger. She's earning $13M per concert for 131 shows for her world tour that ends Aug 2024.

You know that internal screaming feeling you get when people in your life describe their WDW vacation and it’s full of bad decisions… I am experiencing that sensation reading about y’all’s Universal trips.

I figured out when asked on a Universal survey, since Covid vax, I have stayed at either Royal Pacific or Portofino 8 different times, and never paid more than $269 per night.
Can you find me a night at either for that price now?

Cheers

I'm guessing that he's talking about annual pass discounted hotel rates. We also have APs, so I'm having a look at the premier hotel rates whilst we're staying at Sapphire Falls in September as it's sometimes cheaper to book a night instead of buying two days of EP and I've found Portofino for $266.20 for the night on the 27th September:

I gotta ask, why?

USO definitely has ebbed and flowed in quality with ill advised IP shoehorning. But IoA is a well-realized park and HP blazed the trail for the past 15+ years of immersive attractions
This is all subjective of course and I can't speak for anyone else, but to me, IoA feels more like it is stuck halfway between a well-done reginal park and a true theme park. The Jurassic area and Potter are good but the rest just is lacking. At AK you have one area that feels cheap and badly themed whereas at IoA the entire left half of the park falls into that category. Also, if you aren't a Potter fan, their best themed area doesn't offer much to entice repeat visits. Sure, Hagrid's is great but the rest kind of stinks. Just a quick aside but I am convinced that whoever designed Forbidden Journey secretly hates all Potter fans and wants them to be physically punished. I have yet to ride that thing without getting a headache afterwards.

From a more general point of view, the food is awful with a few exceptions and there is little charm to the park as a whole. At AK I can find a place to sit and just soak up the atmosphere while that doesn’t happen at IoA.

I personally wouldn’t turn down a free day at IoA over a paid day at AK but I would take AK nearly every time if I was paying for it.

Hard Rock, and Portofino are showing prices right now for 700. I have paid upwards of 450 to stay at Royal Pacific and more for the H.R. Even during a down period you are paying a minimum of 350 for the Hard Rock or Porto.

Also, staying at the Grand Floridian this upcoming July, using one of those WDW time share rental companies, Im paying 250 a night. Not too bad. I go to Orlando frequently. Universal isn't the less expensive option to Disney. Thats my only point.

By many accounts she’s worth more than that now, and she will make more than Iger’s net worth on this tour alone.
Taylor better have good financial advisors to manage her millions. There was a pic of her at Whole Foods with her bodyguards. Eat and live healthy! Healthy foods isn't exactly the norm at the parks.

Went to Disney again (we haven't gone this much especially in the summer in years for some reason but the fact that it's noticeably slower is a big reason we keep randomly going) this weekend and it was very dead. We were able to get Topolinos breakfast reservations 3 days in advance and friends were able to walk in for dinner coincidentally last night. Our server lamented their change in cancellation policy to 2hrs really killed their numbers. Half the restaurant was empty so I assumed it was a staffing thing but they said they were fully staffed and that was not an issue.

On the topic of travel being down beyond Disney, we booked a Virgin Mediterranean cruise for 80k Chase points (for the two of us, not each) the other day. So that was a crazy deal as well. A lot of people in the travel groups for virgin voyages saying their ship has like 800, 900 people ...ships capacity is 2600.

I just love how everyone connected to Disney blames every other possibility as to why the parks are quiet....They all Bury their heads in the sand to the REAL genuine reason why numbers are down...and it is ALL their own faults..They are completely in denial about the whole thing - its quite scary really.

They created the negativity around Disney and they are not addressing it, but instead making things far far worse with each and every decision they make.

Disney are a car crash of a company at the moment. Clearly with a board room full of yes men who will agree with whatever the top dog says. I get the feeling all they care about is their pay checks and not how to run a park properly.

They should to a Disney+ series where they switch roles for a week and they film all of it
While a box office failure, Cats only managed to lose a small amount of money as compared to recent Disney films, since it only cost $95M to make. At least she knows her way around modestly budgeted films that swing and miss artistically.

I would like to hear Bob’s albums where he dishes on his ex-associates like Eisner, Pressler, Staggs, Chapek, etc

She. But yes, that $266 rate for Portofino is showing up mid-week on several days. And since I mentioned Christmastime in my previous post. This is for Dec 11-13.

The kicker is one person does need an AP. Over the last year, UO has been aggressive with its pass increases, so by the time you factor in the additional cost of a Power Pass over a regular ticket, it's not *as* good of a deal as it used to be. Renewal prices, are discounted, so if you've had your pass for years, like me, then it's closer in cost. The fear from UO passholders is that the best deals are behind us. It comes down to how much you value the Express Pass.

One of our users sent in a video from Hollywood & Vine's breakfast service at 9:50 a.m. yesterday, showing the restaurant maybe half-full. According to the servers, it's been this way all summer.

Granted, Hollywood & Vine is not the highest-rated restaurant. And 9:50 is late for breakfast. But still.
