Ive noticed that with theme park insider it tends to favor the amusement parks over actual 'theme parks'. It also seems very biased towards Universal. It's a good site, but I never rely on their polls too much.

Alton Towers

Wow - Alton Towers = top park in the UK and even beats MK, Epcot and AK.

I really like Alton Towers, but beating 3 of the 4 WDW parks

I've stayed at many of the Orlando hotels listed, and find the rankings difficult to believe! Wyndham Palace outranking Grand Floridian and Contemporary (which didn't make the list)? It's a very nice hotel, and I had a wonderful time there...as well as at Portofino, but I'll still take AKL any day!

Must defend my favorite park!

Two reasons: Rockin' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror. They are the only reasons that people like MGM better, and the only reasons that MGM has been a success.

I gotta go back to this question for a minute -- MGM is my favorite Disney park, if not my favorite park of all times, for many reasons:
1. Best thrill ride (RnR or ToT, take your choice).
2. Best night time show.
3. The only stunt show on property, and it's awesome.
4. Best 3D show (love HIStA and TtbaB, but Muppets rule!)
5. The best themed restaurants -- Sci-fi drive-in and 50s Primetime (OK, Rainforest is awesome too, but the food's only OK and it's not really a Disney restaurant)!
6. My favorite hidden Mickey (Mickey & Donald carrying the Ark in the Great Movie Ride).

There are so many other amazing things in this park, big and small (I love the umbrella that rains on you!), I just can't imagine a better place to spend a day.

It probably would have been my #1 and I've been to 17 of the parks on the list. I love IoA, but it doesn't have the Disney attention to detail that really makes the magic come to life.

Not really. Like many people here, they are just tired of Disney's BS and are pleased with all of the improvements that Universal is making this year.

The list looks to me like it was a very narrow choice or one from a certain gender or age bracket.
I'm speaking from my background in doing surveys for research.

I agree with you. I don´t think it can be considered "valid". We don´t really know who rated them and most importantly, in terms of what.

As for hotels, I value AAA´s opinions, because I have been working in a hotel when it was visited by surprise by AAA agents "incognito"... we found out who they were when they made a complain... ouch! but I also know it costs a lot of money to the hotel to be in that list.... soooo... those diamonds could be a little objectionable too... :animwink:

That is so untrue. MGM Studios isnt just a theme park. If you actually took the time to notice that MGM just isnt full of rides. They have backstage studios for companies like the Travel Channel and other to use for extra space. They also have auditions at the mgm studios. And, RnRC and ToT are not the reasons for success.Well, if you took those two rides out, I would still go to the MGM Studios, why.......becuase its a place where you learn at television and production, except for ToT and RnRC. MGM Studios was very successful, at least in my opinion before those two rides came to town.

You mean the soundstages that they used for Millionare? The only real "production" going on at MGM is whatever the Florida Animation dept is doing, which is quite a lot at times. MGM is a theme park with a small studio attached to it, like Universal right down the street.

I think your mistaken! Millionaire is an attraction. DUH!

Yes, it is an attraction, but they used two of the three soundstages they had constructed for filming on Millionaire instead of building a seperate show building. The remaining soundstage is now only used for whoever is willing to film there. That is not really the park's fault though (but on the other hand, even when studios and networks were filming in Florida, they were filming at the vastly superior soundstages at Universal Studios), because Universal has the same problems in Orlando. Most studios would rather film closer to home in Hollywood (and in a few cases Wilmington).

Hey Pheneix...you're in the minority here...but I have to agree with you...

Universal really stepped it up a bit with Islands of Adventure!

WDW needs something SPECTACULAR! (Hopefully M:S will help...but they need more in EVERY park...or at least something needs to be done to EVERY park)

Universal steps up and builds Islands of Adventure
Disney stepped up and built Animal Kingdom.

Islands of Adventure = Voted #1 Theme Park
Animal Kingdom = Where's the rest of the park???

I think it is a good idea for Universal and MGM to make good use of their sound stages for attractions, because the future doesn't look to bright for either of them getting any big productions in them. I think they must have known that no one was going to travel all the way to the east coast to do filming in a sound stage they probably could easily get in Hollywood. Don't you think it would have been better for Disney to put a movie themed park in California rather than DCA? They could easily get more productions that way. They do have Hollywood Pictures Backlot, but I don't think there are any sound stages there. It is a relatively small area to put sound stages in, anyways, it seems.

Universal has the advantage in California, though, because the park is built right at the studio.

Whoever did this list obviously has no idea what they are talking about because, now people dont get mad this is only MY opinion, MGM and EPCOT are the 2 biggest wastes of space I have ever seen. And while I do enjoy AK, 2 rides (kali river rapids and dinorama) hardly makes it a theme park.
