Yes, and more than I would be about the way it is in IOA....
Dragons wouldn't have been that difficult to theme to at least a small degree, instead of spitting you out of the castle and away from all theme, they could have built up crumbling "towers" around some of the supports that the coasters could have swerved through. They could have added sound effects so that you hear a roar or something when the dragons pass each other. One is themed fire and the other ice, they could have done something cool with hot and cold chambers - going through tunnels, sort of like the dragons lair... A lot of simple stuff like that which wouldn't distract terribly from the ride, the tower things (like the dragon - castle scene in the movie Shreck) would have actually made the ride more thrilling since it would appear like you were going to slam or bump against something every other second. With the expense and effort they put into the line, the things I mentioned wouldn't have been that big of a deal to actually implement on the ride itself and we would have had more than just a line with a theme... This would have made it more of a theme park ride instead of the amusement park ride that it actually is... BTW, Dragons and the Hulk, two (or 3) signature attractions are incredibly cheap by Orlando standards... You call up B&M place your order and they even show up to put it together. Bush Gardens has done it a couple of times to boost attendance and those kinds of rides and such things are expected out of them as a sort of second rate theme park that leans more in the direction of amusement park when it comes to rides... And what's funny is that even though their coasters are older, Bush Gardens FL, still holds a higher average rating in the top 20 steel coasters than IOA does and theirs were also made by B&M.People talk like DIsney is being cheap for not putting these kinds of coasters in but they don't seem to realize that these coasters are cheap (relatively speaking) with an initial proposed budget of $200 million dollars Disney could easily have stuck a B&M coaster in all four of it's Florida parks with plenty of cash to spare... Disney aside, I still think Universal Studios Florida is a better theme park than IOA even if the bulk of it's attractions haven't been kept up well over the years.
In defense of DD, the ice dragon does have a part where it almost hits the castle. DD is supposed to be two dragons dueling, so I don't see what is so wrong with them "dueling" outside. If they were actually outside a castle, which is what you are supposed to think, I think that would be pretty much what it would look like. As for the sound effects, don't you think that it would look, or sound, cheap? The only reason Disney does not go with the good coasters, is that they don't like B&M.
