I had to sign up too, it's required by law within a month of your 18th birthday. I don't think I'd make a good soldier, tho. I've never been good at doing something just because someone told me too. I want to know why, dammit!

I don't object to the whole recruiters being at high schools recruiting who wants to join the millitary, but when you get tons of mail and 100's of phone calls asking if you are interested in joining the millitary, it gets a little annoying. If someone were to sign up to get information about joining the military and show an interest toward it, then you can call them and send them information.

Just thought I would let you know how it is here:

When guys turn 18 they have to go to a draft (there is one once a year) and if you get chosen, you will have to do the "military service" every saturday for a year. If you are not chosen, you are given your papers and you are free! If you were chosen and didn´t complete the service, then you can´t get a passport, or an official id, and without it, you are a nobody. Sooo... that makes it obligatory.

Just last year, they started making it "optional" for women. They choose if they want to do it or not.

The world isn't a Disney attraction. My goals and such in life I don't want ruined by the goverment because of some law that is an invasion of privacy.

I think he's meaning the draft. Aren't you TestTrack? The only reason they're getting your info is to send you crap in the mail to get you to join the military. Am I right?

Both. Having my number and where I live so they can get me and the draft. I'm going to use my imagination when I work, not brute force and killing, even if you just feed people or help with their computers.

They're going to get your info if the school gives it to them or not. I just stopped getting the stuff (I started getting it my sophmore year and I'm now a freshman in college). My school didn't give them the info, though... that I know of :veryconfu

They can find you anyway. They found me and we weren't even listed :lol:

Part two- those things are very important, but there are unfortunately times when we NEED the "brute force" to protect our citizens. I am very grateful to those who are willing to go because I know I don't want to do it! A big hug to those in the Armed Forces and to their families who miss them.

Beleive me the government knows more about you then you can ever imagine,you have a social security number right?
This law only makes it it easier to compile a list. And I Don`t think we will ever go to a draft so you have nothing to fear test track! All this law does is let the goverment have the same access that businesses around the country allready have.

Alright, let me get this straight. A lot of people are complaining because the Military, which is a branch of the government, wants to go into public schools to recruit people, and public schools are government funded. So I ask you, how can any sane person believe that this is invasion of privacy? Oh yeah I know, because CNN lies!!!!!!!!
