Interim show 'The Jungle Book: Alive with Magic' confirmed to debut ahead of Rivers of Light

Quick thought: though the projections wouldn't work, I wouldn't mind them keeping the dancing/music aspect of this show around as a permanent daytime performance (think more like the streetmosphere at Epcot) a few times daily. Utilizes the seats more than just at night and would fit with the general location of Asia.

Alright here's my review of the new night time at Animal Kingdom.

The safari ride I got it right at sunset so that was great. Seen a ton of animal and the rhinos were so close I could literally touch if allowed.

The Jungle Book show. The show was good. The dancers were great, could be more coordinated (I'm a dancer, I know). The atmosphere was good but the actual projects were poor. I figured since they are superb at Fantasmic it would be on par but the weren't. I guess that's what a soft opening is for.

The tree awakening. It was really good. Felt a bit weird though since it's something totally new. I expect good things in the future.

Finally the nighttime smaller block dance parties. They were probably on if the things that the park needs at night. It honestly in my opinion fits the park.

Overall it's a good start to the night time of the park and I'm super glad I got to be there on the opening.

So..quick review from tonight. Nighttime safari was not as good as I thought it was going to be. It was cool to be out there at night on the safari and a pretty cool effect that I don't want to spoil but that's about it. I remember seeing concept art of the night safari when animal kingdom first opened and some of those concepts weren't included.

Jungle book alive at night was pretty weak like everyone else has been saying. Nothing new to add. But we got to see someone tonight that I don't think anyone has mentioned..

We left jungle book early because well it wasn't that great and my nephew wanted to hit dinosaur one last night before park close. We were the last people on it and as we were leaving guess who comes walking through the exit as we are leaving with a CM escort and his family(with a bunch of Disney bags)to ride dinosaur. Jon Favreau.

You're money baby. Good night.

Okay... wow! I just watched the video and I have to say... I liked it! More than just liked it, I loved it. It surpasses my expectations. I think the volume of everything is just right, things transition nicely, the lighting, dancing, instrumentalists and singers, and then the fire twirlers... are great. It's cool and unique.

Only thing that I think should've been better was the water screens.

But I am confused at many of the reactions on here. Why does everyone not like it so much? Is this some kind of planned disappointment in favor of RoL or something like that? What did you all expect from this show? I was hoping for a very decent show and I think this is far more than decent. It's not RoL. It's entirely different, and in a good way.

I'm not full of pixie dust. I think the Star Wars stage show is trash. I haven't been super positive toward Tiffins today. Heck, and here's a little secret, I don't think Star Tours is all that good. But this, this was far more than I expected, and about the level that I had hoped for. I had high hopes, by the way.

The audience seemed to enjoy it, and that matters infintely more than the opinions of a handful of posters.

Big congrats to whoever thought of this idea for the interim show, and to whoever put this together in such a short time. And to the performers, who were great. And to the people out there workimg each day on these barges/floats. I am very impressed.

I was there as well
tree was fantastic
Safari was really bad..lighting wasnt right and there were hardly any animals to see
jungle book was meh..projections were very fuzzy, and i honestly think the lion king puts on a better show
Everest at night rocks
dj in dinoland was loud and disturbing
street preformers in harambe were great as usual
Overall, a bit of a let down

The cast members were miserable tonight by the entrance. A lot of people talking about having to work longer hours and having to work out how to get home.

Hilarious. They (and we) complain about their hours being shortened due to the cuts. And then they (and we) complain about their hours being extended. LOL.

I can begin to understand why management doesn't want to listen.

Reality Check...weve seen the projections hit the mark in media previews..it was windy tonight ...wind blows water = projections no worky likey they should...i swear some of yall need a Xanax

I thought it was very entertaining for a rushed nighttime offer and i figure the kinks will be worked out

Safari has work to do but figue it will improve once the drivers get used to it and they tweak lighting

Always said the ToL show would be the Dark Horse of the new offerings

Check back in a couple weeks and then make your review

It's a really a shame avatarland isn't open for all of this because I truly think it would give animal kingdom that push in tandem with ROL to showcase why nightlife at AK is truly something unique and spectacular.

I agree but the same people would likely still have the same complaints. People were told to keep expectations in check and they aren't. Avatar won't change that opinion. Two rides won't change much even if the land is stunning. I don't know what more people want in a projection show that does what it says it does and a temporary water projection show. I mean watching a video folks of course projections aren't clear .... But I can't say the reaction in here is surprising.

It's not the rides but avatar's land at night is literally going to be an attraction itself.

and I said this in tandem with ROL not the jungle book which is a clip show that is meh but reasonably so. But I agree people shouldn't be surprised that nighttime at AKL isn't up to snuff without ROL. My point is that were avatarland open I feel the package would feel more complete all around.

I agree, it all should have opened together as one big push. They should have rushed Avatar or waited on the night offerings until next spring.

I expected a clip show for Jungle Book. I hope no one expected a brand new storyline for a recap of the movie on water? I guess I just didn't think it would be anything more. The fact that they are offering anything on the river right now is a nice thing, they don't have to do anything at all. I'm just not sure what some people expected with it? It's underwhelming but it was never going to be a 'wow' show on the water.

And if people don't like or appreciate the awakenings on the tree of life, then IMO they aren't a fan of this park.

I watched the video and woof. It honestly felt more like a tribute to Indian culture than a Jungle book story. I'm really not sure what was going on, and you really can't see much of the water projections. I would be totally on board with the Jungle book getting a permanent show which more closely resembled the movies, because it is a fantastic story, but not like this.

I think the other nighttime additions look nice though. Maybe they should just close the safari after sunset?

Bad is not the proper word for this. What’s a good description of something that has the production values of an elementary school’s Christmas play?

Wow so a ton of mixed reviews. There will always be people that love it and people that hate it but I'm still surprised at how many negative reviews there are about the total nighttime experience at AK thus far. Not good

I will be there next week to check it out but based on everything I've seen thus far from videos the tree of life projection is pretty cool but the other stuff may not even be worth doing

Not your favorite based upon a 30 second, out of context clip, from a 25 minute show.

I do not mean to pick upon you or anyone, but perhaps just wait to see the show before making such a statement.
Yep. If you are going to make a preview, you should include a few show highlights. And those moments felt really awkward. I could tell by that clip alone that it would be a rocky show. And judging by the full video I just watched, I was right. Honestly, I am glad because that gives me assurance ROL will still come. JB will hopefully improve in the weeks to come but ultimately, it feels temporary. Normally that's a bad thing but not this time.
