Honestly I am hoping this show is a total flop so it lights a bigger fire under their you know what's to get RoL fixed and opened! BUT I'm sure the total opposite will happen.

honestly regardless of all of those shows and attractions... AK is absolutely beautiful at night... takes on a whole new look and feel.

Oh I agree completely. I just don't feel the offerings will be enough to take people away from the other parks that have full blown nighttime spectaculars.

But RoL is a full blown night offering. You don't get much bigger than spending a fortune on completely rebuilding the area around the lagoon and installing all the show hardware, not to mention everything invested in the floating hardware.

Until Rivers of Light opens (which more than likely will not be until late fall) Animal Kingdom doesn't need to remain open until 11 pm nightly.

Longer park hours are a good thing, and DAK has plenty to do after dark. We are talking two hours here. Most people won't be able to do everything on offer.

Oh I agree, but unless demand is high for The Jungle Book show, the operating hours will return to normal.

Demand will be high, because it is a short run show, and people have already FP+ scheduled it through to its likely conclusion at the end of the summer.

There is absolutely no chance of hours returning to normal. DAK at night is here to stay.

I have to wonder how many of the "regular guests" will understand the Kilimanjaro Safaris will be different, and get in line for it, if they did it earlier in the day?
I mean, there are still a lot of people who don't understand FastPass+.

Disney will market the heck out of it, they'll get the message. Even if they don't, the very fact there is a FastPass available for it into the evening will be enough to get people in.

People will be there, no question. Everyone is going to want to see Kilimanjaro at night and Rivers of Light - at least once.

We'll see, but I'm very confident nighttime at AK will be a huge hit.

You seem to be very optimistic about DAK and all that's happening with the park. What gives? Why so enthusiastic?

I mean, I think many of us want to see the park and WDW excel, but the general thought seems to be that in order for it to really pick up, they need more attractions, and this is really just one new attraction/show, and then one re-themed attraction for night-time. I'm not trying to be negative, I'm just not seeing where that's enough. Perhaps when Avatar opens, it will be, but these few tweaks, still leave a lot to be desired.

I normally agree with your posts, but honestly that would be bad. As annoyed as I am that ROL has been delayed, rushing them is not the answer. We'll get a half-a**ed ROL, yes they could work faster but this is the speed of Disney's construction.

Even if there is nothing really new thats big, it will at least get people to hope there at night whereas they otherwise wouldn't have.

Maybe its at the expense of some people not doing 'a day' at AK, but by extending the night hours would it take some off the burden off the other parks?

DAK is the one park right now that is doing everything right. All of the additions in recent times have been top notch, and I think the nighttime offerings go a long way to completing the park as an all rounder.

Considerable effort has gone into both Kilimanjaro and RoL, and I think that will pay off. AVATAR is clearly going to be something special after dark, and this summer leads nicely into that for 2017.

Of course, the park needs another E Ticket and some Cs and D outside of AVATAR.

I just feel with DAK right now there can be a great deal of optimism.

I know that Expedition Everest is going to run through the extended hours, but do you expect them to close the ride (or not dispatch trains, I guess) while the show is going on? Or will they dim the lights on the mountain? I know that DCA closes a lot of Paradise Pier prior to WoC, but that's obviously in the audience's view as opposed to behind the audience.

My guess would be it won't impact Everest. They can't shut the ride down for an hour for the two shows, and I think the show audio levels and direction the audience are facing will mitigate the issue.

I wouldn't expect them to close the ride while the show is going on. They will probably just dim the lights.
