I’m not sure what the “entertainment press” estimates have to do with profitability.

Based on current trajectory, TLM will struggle to reach profitability. If Indy opens up with those expected numbers, profitability is highly unlikely for that film as well.
I think they’ll both end up flat, so just kicking the IP can down the road for Bob. He’s probably ok with it

“might” is as far as we can realistically go…

Don’t think fords Star is as bright as it once was. He’s spent 25 years saying “yes” to anything…a facsimile of himself.

Crashing planes in the Medicare age is expensive
I usually disagree with you on almost everything but $300M is a steep hill to climb.

I still think Harrison is a draw in certain roles, such as this one. So we'll see how it turns out.

Don’t actually think ford will be the problem here if it fails and the rumors are true…

I heard a very disturbing rumor that suggested “cowering in the corner as his non-famous cast “neice”…or something…saves the day”?

…I think we can agree on more than one thing today if that’s true.

“I cannot have been better served,” Ford said. “With the script, with the kind of actors that we have been lucky enough to get, the passion and skill that Jim brought to it — everything has come together to support me in my old age.”

Does this mean Ford gets a cut or he was just paid really well for his retirement?

I don't think Ford is hurting for money. He must be board. I wonder how much goes to his ex-wives and how much his wife spends.
Ally?

Don’t think she’s poor.

His first wife he was poor for…the second died of cancer about 5 years ago? That was the screenwriter for Spielberg.

Now we’re really off course 🤪

Actors of his generation have been coming back to their old roles to revive them to the new generations and sometimes to be seem relevant again. Sure there is money in it, but overall just look at all the old actions stars that have come back to their old action roles. You can't say its all for the paycheck.

So just because an actor said one thing back 40 years ago doesn't mean it still applies today.

Yeah…

He also has made 600 complaints/jokes about how he never got paid over the years.

For 15 years complaints…then 15 years jokes.

So I don’t know if it’s a “change” of heart?

…so what kinda dance are we gonna have on Indy? A samba? I love the samba 😎💃
If you believe everything that has been said on Late Night I have a golden bridge to sell you.

It’s not just late night…he expressed his displeasure with Lucas consistently

Almost like he never made a Buck off him
🙄

Basically his entire career…but that’s all.

Shoulda gotten magnum PI 🤪

Anyway…no need to morph this thread with the others off the rails.

Movies coming out and we’ll have to see? Everybody has got an opinion.
My point is that older actors from his generations have been coming back to their iconic roles in droves, even those that said they would never play a specific role again. And its not just for a paycheck.....

Of course they have. The Stones keep touring.

Hard to make the paycheck point though…

I can fully believe that ford did Indy cause he wanted too. He’s never shown the same kinda vitriol for that (wonder why?)…

Solo on the other hand? Yeah can’t bridge that gap.

Reportedly $51 for the farce awakens (hard to tell because of a percentage deal)
$65 mil for Indy Jones gets stuck in a fridge…by the way

I will admit I am nervous for this film… the reviews are not instilling confidence… Indiana Jones is my 2nd favorite franchise with The Last Crusade. Being among one of my favorite movies of all time… I will go see it as I have seen every film in the theater since my dad took me to see Raiders when. I was a kid… hopefully it is still a fun adventure… since reading some of the reviews seem to complain about being too generic and not changing it up(which I am ok with)until the 3rd act which gets bonkers

The only question is will it be a good popcorn adventure flick that is enjoyable, and from what I've read it appears it should be.

I’m curious what is making you nervous?

The box office? Forgive me after our box office discussions of the last week - which were officially settled today - leaves me confused?

Does financial success matter for Indy 5?

There’s an interesting aspect at play for the merchandising associated with this release. My son has bought many of the kids toys, but they are all associated with the older films in the series. Same with the Lego sets - all based on the original trilogy. I think there may be one premium figure based on DOD, but that’s it.
