Realistically, how much weight does the Lucasfim banner actually have anymore anyway? I could see them just folding the Lucasfilm IPs into the main Disney banner.
As I said…all I really care about is good movies, but with that being said I doubt Star Wars and Indiana Jones would ever be separate from the Lucasfilm banner

LucasFilms is just like Pixar, a film studio under the Disney umbrella of studios. Having the additional branding of Walt Disney Pictures doesn’t take anything away from LucasFilms as a studio or a brand.

Think of it like all those films that have multiple production company title cards at the beginning of the film. This will be no different if that is what they decide to do.
That’s why I don’t want WDP as part of the additional branding for Indiana Jones 5! Just Lucasfilm and Paramount. Having WDP involved as well would make (and/or confuse) Indy 5 a full-blown Disney movie.

Well there we have it. If the Disney logo is just for the soundtrack as was pointed out, and the Paramount logo is there the one person who was deeply concerned about the Disney logo appearing in the theater can rest easy and we can all move on from a rather pointless topic.
The Walt Disney Pictures logo with the castle is on the poster for Indy 5, next to the Lucasfilm logo though, and the credits on said poster say "Disney and Lucasfilm Ltd. present". That’s part of my problem.

Well I understand your point of view. However no way you slice it Disney owns LucasFilm making it effectively a full blown Disney film.

One last thing I forgot to mention on why Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny shouldn’t be co-released under the Walt Disney Pictures label is that the Indiana Jones franchise is known for having rather dark and gruesome moments, and Dial of Destiny is likely to have some scenes that are as dark and gruesome as this:

I think most of us here understand your point of view even if we don't agree with it.

The movie is rated PG-13, so I don't think anyone going to the movie is expecting a bright and cheery adventure for the 5th Indy movie in the franchise, no matter whether WDP banner is used or not.

this is reminding me of back in the mid-late 80’s they started to release R rated movies though touchstone pictures geared towards more adult audiences

I know that, but I don’t think a movie made under the WDP label should have gruesome scenes such as flesh melting, heads exploding, and whatever Indiana Jones 5 will have that’s in a similar tone.

Well its a good thing those other Indy movies with those "gruesome" scenes are you call them were done under Paramount and not WDP. We don't know what will be in Indy 5, so lets not assume. Its very possible, given that WDP is co-producing the movie, that there won't be those "gruesome" scenes and it'll be just fine. So let's not panic and just wait and see.

We all appreciate your opinion and this discussion.

See, if you have a child encouraging you to cover your heart so that it's not ripped out of your chest, then it's perfect fine family fare!

That is a caring child! to be concerned that you cover your heart and protect it. As for the movies the so-called gruesome scenes are not, actually in many aspects less gruesome than a lot of the other movie fare out there. It will be interesting what will be the Indy cringe moment in this new one. There have been snakes, bugs and rats all in confined spaces so yeah it will be interesting.

Then it sounds like to me they had those kinds of scenes filmed but Disney wanted them to be deleted, which would be unfair to Indy fans, and forced the film to be co-released under the WDP banner.

The film has not been released yet. No one here, including you, knows what scenes are in the movie. So you don’t know if Disney forced LucasFilm to do anything. You’re making a lot of assumptions all because you aren’t liking that WDP banner is being used.

This topic has probably run its course, I suggest waiting until the movie is released and see what’s actually in it.

It is interesting the different reactions. The new trailer made me less interested. I'm a sucker and will see it in the cinema, but my expectations are low.

I don't like Indy being lectured he's failed and now can finally triumph. That's so disrespectful. Just a sign of the time when they have to disrespect the heroes of the past. Why is it in everything now?

Which I think ties into the cringe-inducing "capitalism is just stealing" thing. These people don't understand the notion of creating. Everything is taken and borrowed. So they just can take it, do whatever. No ownership. No care. Just crap on it and pass it along. With contempt for those that created and came before. As they can't do it and seem to lack the idea that it can be done. The lack of ability to understand creation, care and ownership is core to the problem facing legacy franchises in Hollywood these days.
