This is a question that Iger probably gets all the time. It's one that he knows how to answer (unlike tough questions from kids named Gideon). Even if there was something in the works for Imagination (which I don't think there is) I would imagine we would get the same political response until they're ready to announce something.

Honestly seeing how he gauged and answered other questions I feel like he's confident nothing is happening at Imagination.

Now whether him being 'confident' actually means anything is another thing... It doesn't seem he cares too much about the parks.

Thought I'd resurrect this thread for some disappointing news. Just read on Twitter that the first question brought up at the shareholder's meeting was about Figment and Dreamfinder. The response? No plans at this time to resurrect the pair together in an attraction, although the Walt Disney Company is very pleased in the Marvel Comic Figment sales :(

Same theme different venue, Low cost venture makes money equates to no need to invest in a larger scale, It's all about how much can we extract from a 'mature no growth business unit'.

This falls squarely under the blanket of "there are bigger fish to fry."

Shanghai Disneyland - $6B
NextGen - $2B (depending on who you ask)
Disney Dream - $1B
Disney Fantasy - $1B
DCA Expansion - $1B
New Fantasyland - $400M (depending on who you ask)

No, with those things on the radar currently and in the last few years, I think it's safe to say that Bob Iger doesn't give a flying fart about a Journey Into Imagination refurb, nor should he. Even if a project like that was greenlit, it's something that would barely warrant any of his attention. Imagination is one piece of Future World, which is one piece of Epcot, which is one of four theme parks, which are one component of Walt Disney World, which is one piece of Domestic Parks, which is one piece of the Theme Parks & Resorts segment, which is one piece of The Walt Disney Company, for which Bob Iger is responsible in its entirety.

I think folks were just used to Mr. Eisner, who would care about one pavillion at a theme park, because the parks were on his radar.

The company's financials seem to be the only thing on Mr. Iger's radar because that's they type of CEO he is. And that was the type of CEO the company needed after Eisner's last stand.

With the company stable again, it's time for a more creative boss to take over IMO.

The CEO position at TWDC is much broader in scope than it was under Eisner. Specifically, Eisner didn't have Pixar, Marvel, or Lucas to deal with, and the company's international presence (parks and otherwise) was much smaller than it is today.

I am actually quite pleased to hear someone actually asked this question there.
This sends a clear message that these characters are wanted and the desire to see them back at the Park is important to some people...and not just 'foaming' fans.
Always good to keep the quest in the spotlight.

This holds promise for the future.

It doesn't send that message at all. All it shows is that ONE person desires to seem them back and that one person IS a "foaming" fan.

See also: Every other question asked during the Q&A. Those people are lunatics.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
I think people love what the character was and what he stood for. It seems that the majority of people are very disappointed in the current version of the ride BECAUSE of what it used to be. It's a darn shame. The whole thing. But apparently Figment merchandise has an extremely steady purchase rate, so people have most certainly not forgotten about him.
My 6' 4", 18 year old, uber-cool son only ever asks for Figment stuff every year.
Hats, key chains, vinylmations ... all Figment, all the time.

The new Disney March Madness changed their Imagination "team" name to "Imagination Institute Dreamfinders". Rude.

Actually...While a few returned....Many of these are mediocre..2014 teams were better..

I just thought of something!

What if Iger was lying and is actually just trying to surprise us? I mean, there's a whole thread about a "Mystery Project" at EPCOT, and the image posted about it mainly features PURPLE, the color of Figment...

That would be cool, but he didn't even know they were changing the name for Hollywood Studios. His knowledge about park activity seems to be scarce. Which is infuriating. He most likely has NO idea about what will happen with Figment. That being said, OTHER people probably (and hopefully) have some idea as to what his future looks like!

So the Big Thunder Mountain comic is out and this is the the art of the panel that introduces the Barnabas T. Bullion character they based off Tony.

It's like they found a file photo of what he does when he thinks about the current state of the Imagination pavilion.

Heh heh....
No hard drinking for Mr. Baxter when the topic comes up.....just a lot of choice words likely not repeatable here on a family friendly forum.

Good point. Ah well, guess we'll just have to wait and see...

On a side note, I can't help but notice a complete lack of Dr. Nigel Channing merchandise in the parks. Considering what I've read about him on this site, wouldn't Nigel Channing Dartboards sell like hotcakes?
