Ok, I don't like posting rumors because you peeps can be right out tyrannic. So take this info as you wish. Not animals where harmed for this info etc..

I was picking up my DW's copy of Thor (Female) #004 from the comic shop just 15mins ago. As I was checking out I asked the clerk:
Me- "Do you know the release date for Marvel's "Figment" digest version?"

The young clerk looks it up and then leaves to ask the shop owner. The shop owner comes back in tow...

Shop Owner: - "Marvel pushed it back I think til March....no wait, May...They are releasing it to coincide with something to do with the theme park in May."

Me: -"wah??" I asked "Do my mind if I asked where you got that info from?"

Shop Owner: -"The Marvel Rep."

As I left I was all a wonder..Could this be an announcement to go a long with Star Wars etc.. Who knows..But there you have it. Maybe the spirits can fill us in.
Could this be Jerry's "Mystery project"?

EDIT - After watching that video of Tony Baxter, I am now convinced they are working on a new Imagination attraction to be announced in May.

One of the possible reasons that the hardcover edition of the 'Figment' comic series has been delayed is because Tony Baxter will be writing the books forward.
He happened to mention this in that video clip shared earlier from the recent 'Destination D' Event this past November.
His comments in that forward will definitely be worth waiting for, and it is worth holding back the release until he has the time to put some thoughtful words to paper.

The delay may also have been pushed back to insure enough copies of the book are printed to meet demand, as the five standalone issues of the comic have proven to be very popular with fans and collectors.
I think Marvel ( and maybe even Disney ) have been very surprised by that success.

I seriously doubt the delay has anything to do with wanting to wait and release the book to coincide with a possible refreshing of the current 'Imagination' Attraction.
Really don't see that happening.

If there was indeed such a upcoming project in the immediate pipeline, i am sure we would have heard some whispers from sources about such rumblings by now.
News of a 'Imagination Re-Do' would be HUGE...and those privy to such info would probably have a hard time keeping it quiet.
Even if said contacts knew something was coming and could not say anything yet, they would certainly be dropping some major 'hints' that something was up.

MANY want to see that happen...and see a refreshing update that brings back the whimsy and creativity of the past, but entails a entirely new immersive and imaginative experience that today's Guest can cherish.

I would love to see that happen....and it will eventually, but we are all just going to have to wait a bit longer.
Watch that video very carefully. Tony is almost telling us that something is being worked on for that attraction. I would bet any amount of money that this is the same project Jerry R. is working on. In fact, since Jerry's specialty is directing, Jerry may have directed the 3D movie part of the new attraction.

Or it could just be a new figment 3D movie coming in and not a new ride, but my wishful thinking says it will be both.

May could also be when they announce Star Wars Land for DHS. It could be a multiple project announcement, like they did over ten years ago.

He is saying he would love to see something come from the marvel comic, not that something is coming due to the comic. I remain super skeptical about all of this because I feel if there were any wind towards something as major as a possible announcement or any inkling of an imagination redo we would have heard of it by now. The latest news I think was a rumor about a possible inside out redo of the pavilion. Unless that has gained traction which would be rare considering the film isn't due out till july and iger and co like to wait at least a year before deciding if a film is worth the tie in. But the pavilion was supposed to go down for a hard close with a possible redo last year. However once Frozen gained traction all that got canned. I just can't see iger investing in two different attractions opening within the same park within a short time span of each other. Just not his M.O lol

I do. I think NexGen had dozens of projects delayed until that project was done. Now that it is done, they are playing catch-up.

EDIT - We all know the current rumors that billions are to be spent now between the parks.

Here's the Tony Baxter video I think people are referencing, start at around 8:00 to see the part about Figment.

Notice that he keeps staring out into space as he is talking about this, as if he wants to say something but just quite can't. Finally, he grips his hands and stops staring, ends what he was saying in mid-sentence, looks the interviewer in the eye, focused, and says in a commanding posture his statement about the foreword. It was like whatever he wanted to say he can't say but he will say in that foreword.

Something new or old is coming to the Imagination pavilion and my bet is that this project is what Jerry Reece has been talking about and this will be announced in May.

Anyone want to bet?

One project that is very near and dear to the mans heart is to see the Imagination Pavilion return to it*s former glory.
I am sure he would love to be involved in making that happen.
That has been a unquestionable long term desire.
So his reactions here in the referenced interview video clip have much more to do with that deeply rooted desire within him to one day see that happen....and maybe be actively involved in making that happen.

I think too much is being read into this interview, as here he is simply expressing his hopes that the success of the comic series might help re-introduce these characters and concepts to a new generation....the generation that totally missed experiencing the Original Attraction....and perhaps drive a interest in bringing these back into the Park(s).

There has been a lot of talk over the years about how much Tony would love to be involved in helping make that happen, and i would be willing to bet that it is one of his top items on his wish list of projects he would like to see made reality.
He has several such projects on that wish list, and i wish the higher ups within the Disney organization would have *allowed* him to build them!

Yeah, me too. But, he did emphasize that foreword. Add to that the planned announcement that will coincide with its release and you have a strong case that sonething is up. Add to that the whole Jeery Reece thing and even more credence is added.

I also read a bit into his whole discussion about the "three acts" and that WDI was into the third act which is an act "in progress". Avatar is part of that act in progress. Star Wars is also definately part of that act. Consider how these attraction will embrace new immersive technologies, I'd say I understand where Tony is coming from. Whatever is planned for Imagination is a page of that chapter.

Wasn't there a rumor that it'd be refurbished into a new version with Figment teaming up with the cast of Inside Out? I'm confused...

He likely emphasized the foreward he is writing simply because it is something he is pleased to be doing, and is expressing that pleasure with fellow fans who would likely find it delightful to hear.
You have to remember that dear Tony is a self-confessed major league *Disney Fan*...and as such, would naturally enjoy talking about it with others that would likely appreciate it.
I know i found it pleasant to hear when i learned of his involvement writing the foreward for this release a few months back.

The *three acts* bit....i am not reading any more into that except Tony expressing his desire to hold off on writing his book.
He likely wants to wait until he feels he has lived through the *three acts* so he can better tell the story he is wishing to tell.
More a personal view of his own perhaps, and not just simply a history of WDI *book report* type of story.

I don*t see the apparent hidden connections you are picking up here...but i still find your alternative impressions interesting.

Did you not read my first post? "I don't like posting rumors because you peeps can be right out tyrannic. So take this info as you wish."
Glad I was right about something. Who runs this forum? The Skeptics? Troll on by.

Oh for crying out loud.....

"My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who saw Ferris pass out at 31 Flavors last night. I guess it's pretty serious."

Someone here has to be the eternal optimist. That's traditionally been my role. Even when things are bad, I'm optimistic about the future, especially when things are bad because they can't get any worse!

My take is the slowness in recent years is the fault of the NexGen project going over budget and preventing new projects from starting. Now that that mess is over with, I believe all those projects that were on the backburner are final being prioritized with an upped budget to make up for lost time.

We shall see...

The other NextGen project was supposed to be expansion of the monorail system. A replacement for that may finally now come into fruition once they are all caught up with the backlog.

Jim Zub was kind enough to reply to me and as I would have guess has no knowledge of corporate level stuff. He did mention the Tony Baxter is writing the introduction to the hardcover info and that if orders are strong on the collection Marvel may want to do more Figment comic stories. So I hope it is.

The actor playing the Hulk got replaced. You wouldn't like him when his ride gets ruined.

Only park getting that kind of investment has always been Hollywood Studios. I don't know where you are reading all of this but it's definitly news to many on here.

There is no expansion to the monorail system coming either. Monorails that drive themselves yes, but no new beams. I get that you're an optimist but there is a limit to what is believable. Now something new such as a 3D movie headed to epcot possibly taking over captain EO? That's something we have to look forward too.
